I don't understand Nintendo. How, in the same company willing to push boundaries beyond reason for their two flagship IPs (Zelda and Mario), would they decide to keep their biggest franchise (Pokemon) and their fastest growing (Fire Emblem) 3ds quality? The world is at their fingertips with the Switch, they can put some damn effort into it and make something truly special instead of glorified 3ds ports.

Nope, looks like shovelware. Nintendo really shit the bed after a really strong 1st year with the switch and they’ve never recovered. It’s baffling that Nintendo scrapped Metroid but they let this slip through the cracks. I’m still mad Star Allies was an underwhelming game rushed out for Spring when it obviously needed another 6-8 months in the oven, and that goes for all the games they keep rushing out like Mario Party and Tennis.

Breath of the Wild had a bajillion dollar budget and enough manpower to make several games. Breath of the Wild isn't an "underdog", it's the result of Nintendo throwing so much money and manpower into a project that it ends up amazing.
Reminder that MonolithSoft only had 40 people around to make Xenoblade 2 because 160 where working on Breath of the Wild, and that's just one studio, multiple studios all sent people to work on BoTW on top of the actual Zelda team working on it.

Echoes despite having by far the best presentation of the 3DS games if not the entire series (and this is after me liking Awakening's improvements in that regard quite a bit) has its cutcenes looking FAR worse than the previous two games because they got a different studio who's work looks like crap compared to how great the previous games' cutscenes looked.
