The first game does some things better than Hollow Knight already.

Very very little.

like what?

h

Ori had pretty good platforming (probably one of Hollow Knights weakest points to be fair). The first Ori probably should've been a precision platformer.

i thought it cancelled

Ori is cute and the music is amazing

art direction. hollow knight is one note as fuck in that regard.

Yeah, I am weak to cute animal protagonists and Gareth Coker's music for the first game

will this come to the switch? if so, im playing it

I liked the first Ori a lot better than Hollow Knight anyway.

And then comes silksong

I'm hype for it

art, soundtrack maybe but that's debatable (though ori is more memorable), platforming, pacing, physics, overall feel of the game is better.
I'm gonna play the shot out of this one and i really hope they took note from hollow knight's combat because if these two games could somehow fuck their child would be the best game ever made no doubt

Not being a total grind fest for one.

Better vertical levels. HK is mostly horizontal.

i've watched ever possible video on the music of the game plus every interview of Coker where he talks about the game. the dude is smug as fuck but god damn he's a composition genius. I don't know if they took him back for will of the wisp but i really really hope so.

You only have to grind if you suck and die a lot

nope, not in the near future. they have a deal with microsoft so it's exclusive to pc and xbone.
i really wish it was though so my gf could play it by herself instead of pleading me to play it when we're together lol

more of the same anyway

wayyyy better movement and upgrades
Hollow Knight has superior combat, Ori has superior platforming

Nah man, you have to grind to buy lots of stuff. Key items, stickers for the map.

I still like HK better mind you, but I recognize Ori does things better.

Those markers are optional though and most of them are useless anyway.
The game has some backtracking and if you don't avoid fighting everytime you will have the money for everything important.

They're not useless for a beginner. Not that I'm saying they shouldn't be there, I loved the game despite the initial grinding.

Ori and HK are different approaches to the genre, HK is more akin to Castlevania, Ori to Metroid.

i actually finished Ori, only played a few hours of Hollow Knight. I thought it was boring as sin, the most barebones, basic gameplay.
whereas Ori's base movement, even before upgrades, feels nice just to move about.
not to mention the art direction, HK is very one note and plain imo, like middle school sketches.

based

it is my tentative intention to play it barring any obvious signs of shipwreck

fuck yeah i will, seems they changed things after complaints about the first one

I gave up on Ori in the fire temple, but 100%'d Hollow Knight, so it's better. Ori's platforming gets really super autistic later on, I'm not too big on "die & respawn" precision platformers. Spike filled tunnels is not good level design, no matter the art direction.

i'm interested but i hope there's real boss fights this time
it felt like it had phenomenal potential for combat that it just didn't use, like there was absolutely outstanding platforming that then just went completely to waste because it felt like there was nothing for you to test yourself against

You're just bad, user.

and ori isn't? hk was way more diverse and had better visual storytelling by far. ori only competes in platforming

I hate the fact that not only there are people browsing threads like this right now who are this much of a brainlet, but they breathe the very same air as I do and wasting it all for such abysmal taste.
