Where did these sort of people go? or are they the same delusional fags that think TP is better?

they are the same people who see mario's model stuffed into unreal engine and claim it's god tier better than ninty

twilight princess exists solely BECAUSE people didn’t want this gay shit

imouto cunny

People wanted an evolution of OoT's style, not a super stylized cell shaded style.
Nintendo's response to all the whining was Twilight Princess.

Unfortunately that ancient subject that died down shortly after the game was released still overshadows the far more important discussion of how bad Wind Wakers over world is, how shitty the dungeons are, how the game reeks of being half finished with cut content literally being plastered right in your face. Cubekiddies grew up with it though, so it's a sacred cow.

it kinda was. The "link looks like a girl" line was said more often for the spaceworld demo back then though and that comment might have been referring to that demo as well

holy fuck i forgot how ugly wwhd is. i still cant believe that was a thing that people thought looked better than the original.

>Wait was the backlash to Wind Waker's reveal really that bad?
Yep.

>Where did these sort of people go?
They are currently busy crying that the Link's Awakening remake looks awful.

WWHD is a fucking disaster and anyone who thinks it looks good deserves nothing

Yeah.

I complained too. I was like 10 years old or someshit and even I complained. Just compare the reactions to the TP reveal is all you need to understand

WW is the worst 3D Zelda. Dungeons painfully easy. And sailing gets old so fast and yet there is so much of it. Replayed this one recently, felt like a chore.

Wind Waker initial trailer was really shitty.

>tfw no third Hero of Time game

Attached: 2.jpg (605x453, 49K)

>They are currently busy crying that the Link's Awakening remake looks awful.
jesus it really is the same shit

I would have bought a GameCube if its premier Zelda looked realistic, honestly. I was 11 at the time and was excited to see where graphics would go after Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. I always imagined Zelda was supposed to be realistic so it was a shocker that it was less so in the next installment on new hardware.
Today I accept cartoony art styles more, and I consider BOTW one of my favorites despite being stylized.

11 seems about the age when every kid wanted super hardcore mature games instead of cartoony kidshit

LA remake does look like shit though...

None of the charm of this art style shows through until you get to see it in motion for a few minutes. Video trailers and previews weren't ubiquitous back then like they are now, we were mostly reacting to screenshots and text. Of course the reaction was poor.

You're probably thinking "it looks good in stills too". Yeah, maybe now, with the benefit of knowing that it looks good in the actual game. If you were fresh off of Majora's Mask and OoT and were expecting more of the same, seeing screenshots that looked like that was a jarring slap in the face.

It really isn't.

The original backlash to the game's reveal was justified.
youtube.com/watch?v=9rQkncmTITM
Actual game looks way better. Shame about everything else though.

yes it is

sailing in practice is basically 10 minute long loading screens.

Also compare with this:
youtube.com/watch?v=VE2Dc1sx71U

the only similarity is they both felt like a bait and switch, but unlike windwaker that swapped the garbage spaceworld shit with a good style LA swapped nice 2d animation for funko/phone app shit

the hype for this was unreal
it's a shame the actual game was mediocre

it's hilarious how correct you're proving this

TP is the best Zelda game to date, but Wind Waker follows (closely) in second

based

proving there point by making a stretch of a remark

lol

I bought the gamecube new with WW for $100 around 2004 honestly it's one of the best purchase I made in gaming.

Wind Wakers facial animation is basically an inferior version of Mega Man Legends.

youtube.com/watch?v=wBtAvX4Pkyk
The reason for the backlash was because this is what they showed the year before in their demo reel with Wave Race, Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime, etc. That's what people were expecting considering all the other titles looked like what was shown except Zelda.

Wind Waker was a shitty game with tons of cut content, and downgrades from the N64. It doesn't even have underwater mechanics, while the N64 did. And it's supposed to be about the ocean, yet you can't even go underwater.

Attached: ISA0TUf.jpg (1080x1166, 61K)

>no underwater mechanics
THIS is what angers me the most about Wind Waker, but WW was most people's first zelda so it's never brought up.

>you can't even go underwater.
good

If you could actually swim without drowning after five seconds then nobody would use the boat. Which should have made them reconsider the boat, but, well...

>It doesn't even have underwater mechanics, while the N64 did.
damn i just realized this. that's really fucking bad when you think about it, especially considering Zoro swimming was so cool for its time in MM.

The GameCube was the last time Nintendo tried to compete on graphical power. In a situation like that, exclusives aren't just good games, they're showcases for the hardware and a way to convince Team Nintendo that they made the right purchase.

Imagine if in 2015, Sony put out a new AAA PS4 game on par with and it had a cartoony artstyle. People would think the PS4 was an outdated piece of shit. Yea Forums would never let them live it down.

BotW also doesn't have underwater mechanics (outside of using magnesis to lift up chests). Which I don't think is a coincidence.

This. I loved WW once I played it years later, but upon release I thought it looked like dog shit and refused to get a GC for it.

correct

Use the fast sail you morons

They forgot to show the best girl on the reveal, so it was understandable.

Attached: 1554514297987.jpg (736x552, 61K)

>or are they the same delusional fags that think TP is better?
If by "delusional" you mean "based and not baseded out of their minds", then yes.

It's my biggest complaint with the game too.
Underwater is always fun, there's no excuse not having it when the most basic 3D console (N64) did it great.

Wind wake was the beginning of the end. Fuck everything about wind waker and cancer it spawned in later games.

underwater mechanics have literally never improved a video game

>Console Zelda in the style of wind waker never again
It's bullshit. Breath of the Wild should have had the concept style from the concept art that was more like Wind Waker.

Sailing in video games is fun. Being underwater in video games is literally never fun.

based

>Underwater is always fun
Literally a fucking lie.

>lol bright colors and small characters is gay as fuck
>dood this deviant art furry wolf link is fuckin cool!
TP fags are the worst. The arbiters grounds was the only good dungeon in the whole game
>MUH FINAL BOSS FIGHT
Was literally a rehash of OoC

>Where did these sort of people go?
We're still around, just quite because there isn't anything more to say. Also because Internet outrage culture and trying to make a bigger deal out of events makes complaints look ridiculous.

>TP better
Yes and no. In terms of having the same stupid handholdy bullshit? They are on the same level. In terms of world, TP is better, even with the horribly bland Hyrule Field. TP had the better dungeons, enemies and items. WW felt very plain, safe, made to literally be babies first zelda. Which was the original complaint. It looked like it was for kids, so people were scared that it would play like it was just for kids. Years later, we were still right and idiots keep giving all of WW faults a pass and trying to pass the blame onto other games.

Yes. I remember arguing with people about it online and at school because I thought realism was stupid and that cel shading looked really nice. Now almost 20 years later I still feel the same way. Wind Waker's visuals hold up better than most 7th and 8th gen games. Also
>inb4 someone tells me WW was my first Zelda

Attached: high impact.jpg (400x489, 65K)

>Underwater is always fun
Name literally a single game with fun underwater mechanics. I can't think of any.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

mega man since it makes your shit jump into a fun big jump

its mostly that it was ugly as sin, but that seems to be par for the course with nintendo nowadays

People saw the Spaceworld demo the year prior and expected something like that. WW's art style isn't bad, there's a bunch of stuff that game does a hell of a lot worse than just a cartoony art style.

>Wind Waker has a fantastic tier porn comic made by Passage.
>every single major girl in the game is fucked by Link
>even the goddamn Great Fairies
>nothing of Aryll

>tfw no Aryll H-doujin/comic depicitng her daily sexual life with the pirates from Forsaken to Outset.

All I knew at the time was that it was more Zelda and that's what I wanted. It ended up becoming one of my favorites too.

As opposed to the rest of the series where dungeons are painfully tedious and boring

Previous and subsequent dungeons in Zelda are great, WW were just awful.

>fantastic tier
You made it sound like the art was good, it's extremely mediocre.

Minecraft 1.13

>WHY DOES LINK LOOK LIKE A GIRL??

Attached: 1402656751315.png (327x316, 208K)

Yes people fucking hated Wind Waker when it was revealed, they wanted OOT2. People then realized it had perfect combat, great bosses and an incredible, ageless art style that never gets ugly. Then in the last two years people have started hating it because they grew up with Twilight Princess.

Holy soul Batman, that's pretty good.

Literally replaying it right now, it's such a good looking and comfy game. The story, setting and music have always resonated with me in spite of its short comings.

>People then realized it had perfect combat, great bosses
This is the brain of a GC baby holy fuck. And really you stupid faggot, "grew up with Twilight Princess" like it's not on the same damn system as Wind Waker? Maybe it's just a better game you child

Why didn’t they just tell them to Fuck off?

>People then realized it had perfect combat, great bosses and an incredible, ageless art style that never gets ugly.
The first two are definitely not true and third has overstayed it’s welcome.

>nothing of Aryll

That’s because people are psychotic monsters

Because they were right.

What a fucking lame video

I love both games, those 2 and majora's mask are my fav 3d zeldas, although WW will always be my top pick

I will never like the stupid Toon Style Zelda games. I'm not even against colorful art styles, it's just that I don't like this one. Now something like the artwork of Link's Awakening or Link To The Past? Not bad. But Toon Style? Visual trash.

But the LA remake looks great.

Nah I grew up with the SNES. Wind Waker made combat so much better than OOT. And yes, the bosses were fucking brilliant in Wind Waker.

>it's
underage detected

No, i remember a poll from 2003 were 95,000 people ended up voting it the GOTY

>And yes, the bosses were fucking brilliant in Wind Waker.
>open the weak spot and attack
They sucked mate, final boss gets touted as the best of the series but it’s easy as fuck due to it being a QTE.

>like it's not on the same damn system as Wind Waker?

twilight princess came out on the wii the same day it came out on gamecube. you played an inferior version.

While just about everything looks severely worse, the color palette choices on that were much better.

>tfw remember seeing all the bitching and crying in game magazines
I never understood. It was just kids upset that it looked too "kiddy"
the game was max comfy though and still is

>focusing this much on a simple mistake over the message
The point still stands.

>open the weak spot and attack

That’s how a huge number of Zelda bosses work. I might even bet that a majority of them throughout the series work like that.

> you played an inferior version.
Yeah, on the Wii.

Yes and since they did a 180 for TP, the first trailer reveal had the most hype reaction I've ever seen for a game trailer

>WW apologists
What a bunch of pathetic zoomer bitches

Attached: 1533693134735.jpg (950x475, 641K)

> It was just kids upset that it looked too "kiddy"
At a first glance, then you realize it’s worse than OoT in every major area.

Know your place Boomer

Attached: Averages.png (1002x566, 34K)

>OMG I LOVE KIDDY POOPY STUFF
Grow the fuck up

Attached: 1527816318517.gif (680x507, 310K)

Considering pic is the worst game in 3D Zelda, I’d hate it too.

Holy fuck get a grip

wow what a piece of shit game

>worse than skyward sword

You’re so angry that you’ve become delusional

>then you realize it’s worse than OoT in every major area.
what
its different, not worse. I enjoy both a good bit. The combat felt better in WW for sure.
I'm guessing you don't like the huge ocean and sailing?

Yes, the only time Link ever lost a best character contest was when Wind Waker came out.

Attached: 2003.jpg (1132x186, 27K)

Halo brought in a lot of cancerous kiddies and made people hate things that weren't gritty and mature.

Attached: Sats.jpg (368x356, 13K)

>You’re so angry
WWcuck is getting upset lmao. And no, despite SS being a shitty motion game it’s still better than WW considering it had descent dungeons, a few good bosses and side quests, a hard mode AND IT WAS A COMPLETE GAME. All of that is more than what WW had to offer.

>Wait was the backlash to Wind Waker's reveal really that bad?
Hell yeah it was. WW's art style was really unexpected. People wanted more OOT and MM, and they thought they were going to get it after they saw this thing >Where did these sort of people go?
I like to think the game won them over. People really seemed pleasantly surprised by it. It's totally possible that they were just placated by TP.

T. Schizo

>despite SS being a shitty motion game it’s still better than WW

Embarrassing. Not even your own people agree with you.

>its different, not worse
No, worse considering WW couldn’t touch OoT’s bosses and overworld, OST or side quests. However fluid the combat was, it was easier and a QTEfest.

It's the panic button, just like how FF7 Remake was Squeenix's panic button.

>literally no argument
Lel, dumb WWcucks.

Attached: E63AACF8-D1B3-4DB6-8A78-2BCCA5E06243.jpg (455x483, 42K)

People hated "celda" all the way up til release. They expected a game that looked like the Spaceworld demo, and the early screenshots of wind waker did not look great. People stopped making the complaint once the game came out because it turned out that they did a great job on the aesthetic and its actually the best thing about the game. Most complaints after launch were about the slow speed of sailing.

>WW is the worst 3D Zelda
Not in a world where Skyward Sword exists. I would argue Twilight Princess is worse too, but that's debatable.

>The "link looks like a girl" line was said more often for the spaceworld demo back then
I was pretty active in Zelda fan communities back then and I don't remember anything like that. I don't remember a single negative word said about the Spaceworld demo ever.

>They are currently busy crying that the Link's Awakening remake looks awful.
Nah, I didn't complain about Wind Waker and I think the remake looks hideous. Making your entire game look like fucking playmobil is not appealing.

Both SS and WW suck.

>right in the thick of the era where 3D is making huge strides
>'lol we make cartoon game'

everyone wanted the gud grafix

>playmobil
Holy shit. Spot on.

>Megaman Legends Chad

Absolutely based. Just finished 1 again so starting 2 soon again

streaming for my friends since they never experienced it

As a brazilian kid who subscribed 3 videogames magazines, 1 of them being endorsed and licensed by Nintendo, yeah.
It was. Everyone and they cousin wanted OoT with more triangles ( I know).
Played about 5 or 6 years after release and loved it, bought my WiiU because the HD version.

Attached: QUACK.png (373x210, 101K)

WW sucks less than SS. At least WW has some enjoyable parts, SS doesn't.

Rayman Origins

Nah it’s just so unbelievably obvious that nobody even cares to correct you, simply mock you. Twist that sentence any way you want, you’re delusional no matter what rebuttal you attempt.

Wasn't Legends that had the stealth parts?
If it was Origins, you're right.
Honorable mention to Sonic Colors, where you can run above the water and give a fuck it to the stages.

Wind Waker's style was about 5 years ahead of its time. In 2002, the pop culture trend was hyper charged dark and edgy stuff like the Matrix or super crazy XTREME stuff like Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Going from an epic adventure like Ocarina of Time to the proto-kawaii art style of Wind Waker was really jarring for everyone at the time, especially when the original trailer of the Gamecube Zelda game was a more polished version of OoT.

Then around 2006/07 the internet explosion happened and suddenly every teen was exposed to all the kawaii desu~ uguu shit which eventually supplanted the Linken Park edgy trends. So when we look back at Wind Waker, it looks like a cool and unique art style with some character. People had no idea how to interpret that kind of style back in 2002.

Well for me I was very disappointed when this was revealed, but I played it anyway, and turns out its my favorite Zelda. This one had a lot of heart and charm. Where TP had the opposite, it had grit and seriousness that rivaled the fedora man.

To be honest, I'm not sure if they could have come up with an aesthetic that would have worked, given how goofy some of the elements of LA are. But making pretty much the entire game look like cheap plastic toys is certainly not a solution that works for me.

I would have preferred they just reuse LBW's aesthetic though. It wasn't perfect but it looked way better than that reveal trailer.

You zoomies have to understand the context of the time. Back then "kiddie" games were the norm and "mature" games like OOT were a lot more rare and we were all under the delusion that Nintendo could totally make a live action OOT starring Leonardo DiCaprio hot off Titanic's heels and it would win all the oscars because OOT is just so adult and cool and then finally Dad wont tell us to get off our Nintendo and do our homework. So to see the holy grail of "mature" games revert back to kiddiehood was very disheartening for our 13 year old minds.

>Still no argument.
Kek.

Attached: 1B044B7E-4DE0-45C3-BE7B-26DE546092F2.jpg (400x225, 26K)

Pretty much this but not the whole story.
When the Gamecube was announced Nintendo showed a demo that was basically OoT with good graphics.
youtube.com/watch?v=SvE3yJv3fm0
People wanted that for years. But instead got a cartoon. WW is good on it's own merit but it wasn't what people wanted at the time.

pretty spot on. I do remember every publication defending zelda at the time though. we all got our first look via some awful screenshot in magazines and it scared the shit out of everyone. most people once they saw it in motion it was more 50 50 or even more favorable.

They ran out of time to finish it, they had more dungeons and put those dungeons in later entries like skyward sword.
And why would you want water levels? Those are the worst levels.

>it had grit and seriousness that rivaled the fedora man.
You never never played TP have you.

if you avoided content just to move the story forward yeah it is.

Don't try to rope me in your autistic battle. I think Wind Waker is pretty heavily overrated I just tend to think that Skyward Sword is absolutely fucking abysmal, with literally no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Couldn't even be bothered to finish that piece of shit, the only other Zelda games I can say that for are the godawful DS games.

Again, nobody needs an argument because it’s not an argument. We’re simply planting ticking time bombs of embarrassment in your brain when in a couple of years you wake up and realize how wrong you were. Imagine arguing with a flat earther, that’s how stupid it would be to take you seriously.

WW brought back the Jabu-jabu temple and that’s worse than the Water Temple.

Medli is hot

>bitch bitch bitch
Still no argument why this unfinished, rushed out the ass game is better than this game that had proper time and development. Lol.

Attached: 45A33F38-68C3-4422-A0EA-552A4430AB31.jpg (720x830, 89K)

yeah I have you flea grabbing goat humper

>OoT
>mature
Mate, back then "mature" games were Nightmare Creatures and Syphon Filter, Zelda was a kid game, a good game but the kind of game that you let your younger brother play while you rocked some C&C64.

Attached: 1471588955860.gif (333x250, 2.74M)

DKC Tropical Freeze

TP is still the best game since Ocarina, shotafag.

>On your deathbed
>”Th-they didn’t have a-any arguments”
>Heartbeat monitor flatlines and your defense of Skyward Sword is still respected by nobody

there was no Jabu Jabu temple dipshit

>I only play mature video games for mature gamers such as myself

NINTENDO HIRE THIS MAN

It was because the tech demo shown before Wind Waker had an adult Link fighting Ganondorf with an artstyle that looked like a more realized version of Ocarina of Time's. People were hyped up to shit so when they subsequently revealed what the new game would actually look like everybody got pissed because it felt like a bait and switch.

I’m talking about the Medli-companion temple, faggot.

Depending on where you end up in life, you forget these people exist. This is the kind of shit children talk about on the playground or on the bus to middle school, but people tend to keep this to themselves (at least with opinions like WIND WAKER IS SO KIDDY and the like).

The last time I met someone like this was through a mutual friend, kid didn't have a college degree and had no interest in getting one. Was completely convinced that twilight princess was the best because it was "mature". Not to say that TP isn't a good game, but fuck me is it weird to hear that it's mature. It's a kids game. The medium is designed for children and manchildren. His favorite game? Dragon age inquisition.

Attached: 1534039763939.jpg (226x223, 19K)

There has never and will never be a “mature” Zelda game
OoT and TP are as mature as Duke Nukem or Saint’s Row. They’re juvenile

>no argument
Based, just when WWcucks couldn’t get anymore pathetic.

you mean the dark demple? the one with the floor grabbers? bitch you must be joking to think that is worse than a water temple.

Pretty much. The main audience for Zelda at the time was kids, and kids always want "mature" media, where their interpretation of mature is just "blood, sex and cursing".

name?

Holy fuck he said it again kek. That must be a form of Tourette’s.

Back then I never actually saw the reveal trailer itself, I just heard people's reaction to it in Nintendo Power and then saw some promo material later, and I fully defended it

Years later, actually seeing the trailer, I can see why people were upset. The cartoon aesthetic isn't the problem nearly as much as the Looney Tunes tone of it; Link literally tricks a bunch of moblins into running off a ledge, where they suddenly realize there's no ground, tread air, then fall Wile E. Coyote style, and then Link looks right at the camera and winks. WW has it's moments of 100% Cartoon antics, but for the most part the game's tone is nothing like that trailer.

Attached: 1378787572703.jpg (634x874, 340K)

>people leaving the area thinking it's nothing
>everyone freaking the fuck out when they realize what it is

thank you. People who go off of visuals alone and think a design choice makes or breaks a game is probably clinically retarded.

Notice how "mature" was always in quotes and I was explicitly trying to explain the mindset of an early adolescent nintendo fanboy at the time

It’s worse because you’re held back by a companion while WT’s slog is all on the player.

>ninty

Attached: love.jpg (1024x569, 67K)

>God I’m just so MATURE
>I really FEEL like an adult, you know
>Bright colors? Vibrant art styles? Not in my video games
>I only play MATURE games about DARKNESS and KILLING
>why yes I DID just turn 13, how did you know?

Sorry desu, but you literally have given a single reason why WW is better than SS.

And you’re still in that mindset

>still posting tech demos as cancelled games
Retard

Don’t worry, people are retarded and read what they want to read.

*have not

>numales still think playing kiddie shit makes them more mature.

>8.8
I liked it

>Link literally tricks a bunch of moblins into running off a ledge, where they suddenly realize there's no ground, tread air, then fall Wile E. Coyote style, and then Link looks right at the camera and winks.
shit that didnt happen. All there was was slapstick. Like Link getting launched into the dark fortress while trapped in a barrel.
and again with the temple of trials being unlocked.

Your game still sucks WWcuck.

>adolescent nintendo fanboy
I didn't get this by your post, just average "mature gamer".
I can see what you were saying now.

never claimed it was a game dumbass

You arent held back when you can fucking fly and use her harp as a mirror to stop ghosts. Looks like you just sucked at it.

Windwaker HD was fun

Man, I remember being so excited for Twilight Princess, got a wii for it day one. And then you have to sit through fucking 5 hours of the most linear, boring content in any Zelda game before the game finally opens up and becomes fun. Alright game overall, but such a disappointment.

Mature people don’t get their rocks off by trying to act mature

youtube.com/watch?v=i1MrzjeR2NY
If you fucking clowns saw this shit in 2000, literally the same year Majora's Mask came out, wouldn't you be hype as fuck for a real fucking adult 3d zelda?

youtube.com/watch?v=moJEbZmC6qY
other games in this one

he has you simply ignore it out of spite

Nah, it’s just WW had the shittier of the dungeons. OoT’s were better and more memorable.

I don't care about society and reality, so yeah, I LOVE THESE KINDA OF THINGS AND I AM PROUD TO ADMIT, this makes me a badass xp

The media you consume does not dictate your level of maturity.

That was user's point. What you greentexted was part of the WW reveal trailer

>virginmales still think playing dark games makes them mature.

It was after Ocarina of time. Everyone wanted a game that followed Ocarina's footsteps, especially after Nintendo showed that tech demo of Link fighting Ganondorf. No one expected Wind Waker.
The irony is that Wind Waker is pretty much a OoT rehash anyway.

>Left: soulless
>Right: also soulless you fucking retard. 3D games was a mistake.

Nope, not a single reason.

windwaker is a kids game.
TP is a kids game.
being a kids game doesn't mean it's inherently unsuitable for people who are comfortable with that fact. Just don't claim that consuming any type of media makes you "mature"

Attached: 1536102064588.jpg (499x665, 240K)

I fucking loved Frozen and never liked any other Disney movie, so fuck you all.

All games are kids games
Video games are primarily marketed to children

this is the true gamerpill

Attached: 1534815898764.jpg (934x776, 47K)

You’re memorable and better, asshole

WW sucks because its dungeons are fuck awful and the game was extended by that terrible Triforce hunt.

Hey guys look
An actual child posting

Wait, are you trying to compare all of the temples of OoT to WW? because yeah you are right they are more memorable, but the most memorable are often times the most hated, hence the water temple, which was my point. Water Temple sucked. And having a water temple in WW would have sucked ass.

This thread is full of autists
and that's fine since it reminds me of old Yea Forums

You know, it's odd, I remember seeing the Spaceworld demo, but I have no idea how I would have seen it back then. I doubt I would have gotten the video online and it obviously wasn't on TV at all.

Yes, and now that an e-celeb has said it you faggots might get it through your thick heads.

>the most memorable are often times the most hated, hence the water temple, which was my point. Water Temple sucked
Nah you probably suck at Zelda.

Got a link? I need to see this because there was no reveal trailer back then that I saw.

I remember reading archived magazines of Club Nintendo Mexico negatively comparing the artstyle to Powerpuff Girls.

finally an opinion

Based Mexbro cagando on shit games.

Mexicans tend to be edgelords for some reason so they disliking WW doesn’t surprise me

>shit that didnt happen.
It did happen, in the WW reveal trailer, but not in the actual game. You can see it here;
The goofy cartoon moments are few and far between in WW, but if that trailer was all you had to go on, I could understand being concerned for the game's overall tone.

ok found it never mind.

>mfw played WWHD instead of original WW
>mfw played OoT Remake instead of original OoT
>mfw played TPHD instead of original TP
>mfw played MM Remake instead of original MM
Cope, you fucking faggots. Enjoy your shoddy game design that every remake and remaster fixes.

Not anymore.
Depending on the game it can be targeted to adult or teenagers trying to be adults.
Games targeting children are scarce now and Nintendo still owns this market.
It is bigger than what it should be because of the brand loyalty and nonfunctional adults.

I’m pretty sure most would agree WW had the most forgettable dungeons in 3D Zelda. Also that Triforce Quest is complete ass.

I did just fine, it has been known and always known that water temple was the worst temple, and you are underaged if dont know this.

You know what? You're right.

1. TP is better. That ocean was mainly empty.

2. They bait and switched us with the Spaceworld 2000 Zelda demo, and got something that looked cheap in the demos.

>mexico
no fucking wonder those guys get bitchy at anything that isnt dark and cool.

>it has been known and always known that water temple was the worst temple
How to spot an underage fag 101

Was there any other loli beside Aryll?

I love the fact that ganondorf's taunt in melee uses the sword from this demo. They probably played with the idea before falling in love with the cel shaded look.

I enjoyed the temple with all the fucking mirrors and controlling medli. other than that, they were a little lackluster

Attached: 1537446661074.jpg (647x435, 44K)

For me it's OoT. Probably because it was the last 3D Zelda I played.

TP over world was more empty than WW, dont kid yourself.

You know who primarily buys M and T-rated games?
Kids
“Mature” games are the most childish of them all

TP didn’t backhand you with awful encounters like the phantom boat.

Seriously? The Forest Temple and Shadow Temple alone are some of the most memorable dungeons in the entire history. Jabu Jabu is too, though I wouldn't call it a good dungeon.

This
The ENTIRE Gerudo desert only had one dungeon and the cave of bullshit, and the entire ice area only had the one dungeon and a sledding mini game that isn’t even fun

>>mfw played TPHD instead of original TP
There's literally nothing wrong with this.

Me as Link

>implying autists can't find a way to nitpick a reason to hate it
I can see dozens of people disliking the removal of the piss filter the game had.

Yeah, I heard. Never saw proof and I was manager at a Gamestop on Atlanta. So, I don't buy it.

If you mean the obnoxious amount of orange hue in some scenes it's still there.

Why are modern games afraid of dark colors. Like im playing team sonic racing and the remade levels are less saturated and have more bloom or lighter colors compared to how they originally looked.

Because they fucked with character models.

OOT and MM remakes really fucked the artstyle. The other two are decent enough.

Hardly. The toned it down very noticeably.

Attached: Screen-Shot-2015-11-13-at-10.43.00-AM.png (636x275, 262K)

>the cave of bullshit
Not bullshit if you get gud.

Because the industry either hits too dark and gloomy or makes things colorful to counteract it. It rarely finds a middle ground

Goes to show how shit they originally were when upresing them makes them look like shit.

Man I remember when I was like around roughly 12-years-old. Being hyped for the next-gen Nintendo system at the time.. They released the Wind Waker trailer and every message board I frequented shat all over the colorful childish artstyle of Wind Waker. Everyone wanted to see a dark moody realistic Legend of Zelda game.. Not this "childish" game. Now suddenly it's a cult classic nearly over 16+ years later. Crazy how shit changes.

Attached: 1557458954284.jpg (1024x1024, 94K)

>Wait was the backlash to Wind Waker's reveal really that bad?
Yes, it angered a lot of people who were tired of Nintendo going against the zeitgeist.
>Where did these sort of people go? or are they the same delusional fags that think TP is better?
They bought PS2s and XBs and complained about Nintendo being run by morons for like a straight decade.

Not trying to be the snowflake, but yes.
I remember the well dungeon and the Fire Temple the most, aside from Jabu-Jabu, this is the one that is glued to my memory because, well, because it's Jabu-Jabu.
And I know this is going to sound more stupid yet, but SS temples come to memory instantly. The temples are very unique in my mind.

They hated the controller. They hated the type of games were on the system. It was over-priced. They hated the kiddie Legend of Zelda game. PS2 had built-in DVD capabilities and had a shitton of games to buy. The original Xbox was for rich spoiled children.

Attached: 1554649365829.jpg (850x1511, 266K)

Ironically I bought PS2 and Xbox because TP was so bad it turned me away from Nintendo forever.

>They hated the controller.
I'll have a McYikes.

>"muh shitty textures are replaced with cleaner ones! Aghhhhh!!"
This argument is fucking stupid. For MM, I can see where people can argue that the game a little too bright and bosses are definitely shittier because of the focus on the already obvious weak spot but that is it. The convenience of the remakes absolutely makes it a better play. N64 games have not aged as bad as a lot say, but they do not look particularly great. MM, especially, looks incredible for a 3DS game.

It's true. The only game that they accepted over the years was only for Melee and Brawl. That's literally it. PS2 and Xbox controllers were the better option.

>right
>consistent lighting/shading
>everything blends and fits together
>Aryll has red cheeks and defined features
>left
>sky is foggy and almost blinding
>ground and grass are sharply contrasting
>Aryll's features are thin or nonexistent
Who thought this was a good idea?

I NEED MY SOMBRA WITH A DICK.

desu, before twilight princess reveal trailer, this seemed to be the future of Zelda games. We got wind waker, four sword adventures, and minish cap, all pushing this art-style.
It's not like anyone knew it would be temporary, so reactions were dramatic.

SS's dungeons are the only worthwhile aspect of the game. Though fi mostly ruins them. Ancient Cistern and the time travel ship were solid

I own all five relevant controllers from the generation and the Gamecube has the best one. Wavebird in particular simply has no equal and Nintendo wouldn't make a controller as good until the Wii U Pro controller.

>I own all five relevant controllers from the generation and the Gamecube has the best one.

I'm sorry you're part of the minority but that's simply not true. At least by popular opinion Gamecube controller was utter trash.

>I literally made my friend buy SS because the time travel dungeon shenanigans
I was in love with the game in this part. We still laugh about this shit.
But yeah, lotus and time crystals is what I carry about this game.

>at least by popular opinion Gamecube controller was utter trash
>was
We are talking about the past, correct? Not who you're responding to, but the GameCube controller is now hailed as one of the greatest, if not, the greatest controller of all time by normies.

It's just stylized. I think it looks okay.
I'm still disappointed, though, because it's not what I really wanted.

Gamecube's shit D-pad makes it inferior to the Dualshock 2 as far as I'm concerned.

The same people are complaining about the Link's Awakening remake right as we speak

>Who thought this was a good idea?

It’s simple, the people who made the original had passion and talent, and the remake was made by newly hired retards who don’t have the slightest clue what they’re doing.

>At least by popular opinion
Horrible metric considering the console wasn't popular at all.

Oh my fucking god. Look, for its standards back then it was trash. In my opinion it was fine for what it did. But it wasn't even close to the PlayStation controller. Xbox goes in 2nd place I don't really like it. Honestly normies just think it's a great controller because Nintendo.

Attached: 1552415611321.png (460x507, 256K)

>that low virgin count on Yea Forums
LM@O

>Everyone on Yea Forums hates the remake’s artstyle but I love it

I’m a shy boy

Dualshock d-pads are just as horrible, but they are atleast situated better for use. However by PS2/GC every controller except Sony's stopgag had the analog stick on the top left.

Calm down you autist, I directly stated that NOW it's being claimed as one of the best controllers.
>normies just think it's a great controller because Nintendo
Far better than thumbstick than the PS2 and Xbox. Also far better triggers than those as well. Xbox would have taken it but they decided for the gay Dreamcast placement.

>original Xbox was for rich spoiled children
I had all three consoles. Get on my "rich spoiled kid" level.

Fuck frank btw
also derrick is a faggot

WW still got to live on so it's not like they felt it was such a mistake
And they have preferred to go for more whimsical styles ever since
Even BotW is cel shaded

LA remake deserves the flak it gets tbqh

Attached: LAremake.png (798x1032, 1.08M)

>Far better thumbstick than the Xbox

those are fucking fighting words

It was people who grew up with OoT and MM and thought Zelda would continue to instead of refining their own tastes elsewhere
These are the people who want Link with a beard and Zelda with Dark Souls combat

>delusional fags that think TP is better?
t. delusional fag that thinks Wind Waker is better

I don't like the Dualshock d-pad either but the gamecube's dpad is just the worst fucking thing. It's even worse than the 360's dpad.

It's honestly super close. I really like the Xbox controller too.
I think the rubbery texture on the GameCube controller just feels nicer. You'd think the target design it has would be uncomfortable but I believe your finger just naturally adapts to the ridges.

>the Duke had a dogshit right stick which stopped it from being the best controller of the generation
SAD!

From would make probably make an interesting Zelda spinoff

>It's even worse than the 360's dpad.
Nice hyperbole or you haven't used the 360 dpad.

From is a company that has the creativity to not need to handle other people's ips

>These are the people who want Link with a beard and Zelda with Dark Souls combat
Or a good Zelda game which WW didn’t provide.

>From is a company that has the creativity to not need to handle other people's ips
This is coming from the company that is having George R R Martin consult on a game, kek.
Clearly not TOO creative enough.

Gamecube has such a tiny dpad. I have manlet hands and they were that much smaller as a kid and even then it was finnicky.

I really want a Zelda game with Link and the cursed arm he had in the one concept for BOTW.

I have a 360 controller sitting right next to me that I use regularly. The gamecube controller's dpad is the worst of any controller I've ever used. I know the 360's dpad is shit, that's why I used it as an example, but the gamecube's is even worse.

I can use the 360's dpad comfortably even if I don't like it, can't say the same for the gamecube.

Zelda games are about puzzles and getting new items to solve puzzles
There's a lot of backtracking in Souls and fetching items
But the items you get aren't often used to help to solve puzzles AND fighy

>Far better than thumbstick than the PS2 and Xbox
The n64's analog stick was objectively superior to any subsequent controller in terms of range of the input available to the player. There's a reason people who come to mario 64 via emulators don't have the same reverence for it that people who played it on the original hardware do, and it's not just due to nostalgia. It controls better with an N64 controller because the analog stick was strictly better.

Unfortunately it was also way too fragile, mine are still intact but I remember any time I went to a friend's house back then, their analog sticks lost their rigidity.

>The original Xbox was for rich spoiled children.
It was popular among college kids for the same reason that the N64 had been popular among that demographic a few years earlier, solid local multiplayer FPS offerings.

From would just make another formulaic fucking souls game. That's all they're capable of these days. The last thing I want from Zelda is boring ARPG shit centered around "builds" like I'm playing fucking Diablo 2 again.

doesn't mean that that couldn't be changed, especially if they worked together with Ninty

>what is Sekiro

I'd love to have just another BOTW with refinements to the formula, better combat (maybe ask platinum to help out, I'm sure Kamiya would jump at the chance), more enemy variety, a new world, etc. I liked BOTW a lot, and I'd love to see it get the same type of refinement that LTTP's formula got through every subsequent Zelda game til SS.

MM > TP > SS > WW > OOT
I don't count BotW among them because it isn't similar at all.
OOT's Child Portion isn't fun at all.
Dungeon quality and sidequests, as well as atmosphere, are the most important parts of Zelda to me.

>what is Sekiro
A souls game with tacked on stealth, and stamina replaced with posture. Sure it's a little different but it's still the same formula. Grim fantasy world with unforgiving combat, open level design, more lore than story, an obsession with death, and ARPG progression.

It's the exact same shit, with marginally different combat.

TP's intro is every bit as bad as the child part of OOT, if not worse and it goes on for way longer.
MM's dungeons are fucking shit outside of Stone Tower. Not to mention the fact there are only fucking 4 of them.

They abandoned the franchise and the kids and manchildren who loved the "Celda" thing remained and became the nu-fags with silly Zelda tattoos.

The game had a good story but lets be honest, Aonuma added too much shit he probably wanted for another Marvelous Treasure Island game in TWW and specially the DS games were it was obvious they were more puzzle oriented than action

>SS > WW > OOT
"No"

OoT, MM and TP had pretty neat dungeons

The Spaceworld showoff was honeslty the worst thing I'd ever seen in my life. Everyone had the right to be livid.

That fucking trailer made me invested int he Zelda games.

At least it had a big overworld and beautiful girls unlike the The Twink Wanker.

I'm not the biggest fan of Wind Waker, but really, you're going to claim its overworld wasn't "big" enough? Shit was way too fucking big for the amount of content in it. And I really couldn't give less of a shit about MUH WAIFUS.

Windwaker deserved the backlash because they took a major departure after showing us this awesome tech demo youtube.com/watch?v=i1MrzjeR2NY

>Where did these sort of people go? or are they the same delusional fags that think TP is better?

When the game came out we grew to appreciate the aesthetic. To be fair windwaker does look like shit at a glance on a recorded screen with 2001 camcorder quality.

>tired of Nintendo going against the zeitgeist.

I've always needed the words to describe what pisses me off about Nintendo and that's it.

t. gamecube kiddy

The first frame you see link he looks like a southpark character

>The n64's analog stick was objectively superior to any subsequent controller in terms of range of the input available to the player.

I wish someone would try to bring back the photo-wheel analog stick. Even Nintendo's design is fine with lube and choosing any other material than soft plastic for the bowl.

If I would call any temple the worst then it'd probably be Fire Temple

Fire Temple is the most boring but the way the Iron Boots are implemented in OOT makes the Water Temple worse.

>OOT's Child Portion isn't fun at all.

Better than TP's furfag portions

Okay, I can try and clarify some things.
First, the backlash to the Wind Waker art style. It was so controversial was because it felt like a bait and switch.
See Watch_Dogs E3 presentation and recurring fallout for another more recent visual backlash.
When the only thing you have been shown in regard to the next sequel is a more mature photo realistic visual style, then on release your given stylised cel shading it's a shock to the system.
Expectations > Reality sort of thing.

However, the graphical stylings were the least of my gripes with Wind Waker.

The lack of dungeons is a gripe it shares with Breath of the Wild.
The absurd travel times is a problem of its own creation, the addition of a swift sail years later doesn't rectify the issue, but offer a band-aid solution.
The amount of padding in the late game is completely pants on head retarded, the only other time a game made me grind for so much money was Fable 3, but Fable had the decency to not roadblock all progress and just gave you a fail state.

Because of the above and more, Wind Waker falls on dead last as my favorite 3D Zelda game.

>furfag
Ah, so your retarded then, next you'll say Okami was shit, just because it's main character was a wolf as well.

No... Sekiro is a failed Tenchu game that lost it's direction, so the developers went back to what they know, Dark Souls.

>Sekiro is a failed Tenchu game
In order for that to be the case, it would have to actually be a fucking stealth game, it isn't. It's a generic action game with tacked on stealth elements.

>Imagine if in 2015, Sony put out a new AAA PS4 game on par with and it had a cartoony artstyle. People would think the PS4 was an outdated piece of shit. Yea Forums would never let them live it down.
Gravity Rush?

to enjoy windwaker to the fullest emulation is truly the best option
dolphin has a hack that lets you disable that distant blur/heat effect. you can increase internal resolution and there is also a widescreen hack.
best way. and it doesn't even require a super computer.

I shit you not,

lmgtfy.com/?q=sekiro was tenchu

First result, Sekiro is legitimately a failed Tenchu game.

Fromsoft got paid to make the next Tenchu, and didn't know what to do with it, so they kept tweaking till it became a Souls-like

And people act like this is a somehow "creative" company. Creatively fucking bankrupt more like.

>Got paid to make the next Tench

they've owned the IP for years. Acquire went on to make Shinobido (Or whatever it's called)

It's funny to me that the things everyone worried about with WW leading up to launch are the things that it ended up excelling at the best. Sailing the ocean was fun and the artstyle has stood the test of time. The lingering problem, then, is that it's a subpar Zelda in nearly every other respect. I wish I could give WW's ambitions more credit but the meat of the thing, the actual Zelda game that's supposed to be the core of it all, is just consistently underwhelming.

Owning the IP doesn't really matter in this situation, corporate still has to divert the funds to greenlight any project. And they greenlit a new game in the Tenchu series, and were given back a new IP instead.

It's like ordering a pepperoni and bacon pizza and getting a buffalo ranch instead,Not what you ordered, but it's still pretty good s not really worth bitching about

>it's a subpar Zelda in nearly every other respect
You could say the same thing about Majora, and yet people love to suck its dick. The only things it does well are atmosphere and side quests. As far as traditional Zelda formula content goes, Majora is among the worst in the series.

>The arbiters grounds was the only good dungeon in the whole game
City in the Sky, Hyrule Castle (if only for the music) and Snowpeak are great.

I'll vouch for Great Bay Temple as a great dungeon but I'm a massive Zora Linkfag who doesn't mind valve management. Everyone also likes Stone Tower Temple, and Ikana Canyon in general was pretty neat. Woodfall and Snowhead definitely could've been more interesting, though. Even so, I still see more merit in MM's main quest than WW's, where engaging in the main quest from top to bottom left me in a consistent state of minor irritation.

Say what you will but I love all of TP's dungeons. Every single one.

this is unironically the worst series i have ever played. i played oot and ww and felt nothing. they are so fucking boring. why is this series so popular?

Temple of Time sucked ass except for the Darknut fight and maybe the boss if you like easy shit, the entire bullshit with the Dominion Rod after it was shit

Sky Temple is one of the shittiest dungeons in the franchise

Water Temple’s gimmick gets old really quick

Twilight Realm is too short and too much of it is running away from Zant Hand

The light bug thing sucks

Maybe you just don’t like puzzle/adventure games

OoT was a leap forward for 3D action gameplay, quite literally a revolutionary game. WW gets a pass on the goodwill of the series up to that point, more or less. That said, you should try ALttP and Zelda II before you give it up for good. The former because 2D Zelda's actually a bit different from 3D, and the latter because it's an action RPG that's absolutely fucking nothing like a typical Zelda game.

are we counting puzzles like catherine? or environmental puzzles intertwined with an adventure like banjo tooie? because i love both of those. its a difficulty and clunky thing. the games are braindead easy and you have to keep fumbling through the menus halfway through the game to equip items on your action buttons. i want to say the music is good but i remember almost none of it. i guess its just not for me but i always wanted to like it since millions do

You shouldn’t try to like something just because it’s popular
Like the things you like, as long as it doesn’t hurt or interfere with anyone else that’s all that should matter
Zelda has enough fans already, if you don’t like it the series won’t suffer too much from it so don’t feel bad.

>Temple of Time sucked ass except for the Darknut fight and maybe the boss if you like easy shit, the entire bullshit with the Dominion Rod after it was shit
I liked solving the dungeon forwards and backwards. It's also one of the only dungeons that doesn't straight up put the boss key in your hand so +1 for it there (and a standing complaint I have for TP dungeons in general). That said, the boss absolutely sucked dick. Not even worthy of being called a joke.

>Sky Temple is one of the shittiest dungeons in the franchise
Fuck no, it's one of the best. It's long as fuck and it's primarily a clawshot dungeon and I'm a hookshotfag. Boss is okay I guess, kinda indifferent to it.

>Water Temple’s gimmick gets old really quick
Much like Water Temple and Great Bay Temple before it, Lakebed dares to ask the player to employ some semblance of spatial reasoning in its progression. The central room management is decent enough puzzle shenanigans. Probably my least favorite dungeon but I still love it, though the boss here is almost as bad as Temple of Time's.

>Twilight Realm is too short and too much of it is running away from Zant Hand
I'll concede that it's a bit short but only the first half is running from the hands. The second half is light shenanigans. It's also the only other dungeon to not put the boss key in your hand AND the boss fight's actually alright in this one.

>The light bug thing sucks
I guess but 1.) I feel they're pretty short anyways and 2.) they're not dungeons.

Yes, it was THAT bad.
Even gaming mags joked that the next Zelda game will probably look like a stop-motion clay animation.

You gotta realize that at that point, most other devs were competing on who can make the most "REALISTIKK" looking game, and all the sudden Nintendo innovates with some very unorthodox visual style.

You seem to like tedious bullshit

That is an entirely subjective assessment. I like what I like.

How did you manage to struggle through MM remake? Everything in it feels like shit even just moving around in the water or as a deku.
youtube.com/watch?v=653wuaP0wzs

If you've never played the original you probly won't notice and just consider it a mediocre Zelda. You think it's a coincidence that so many people consider MM their favorite Zelda while zoomers (who only played the 3D version) consider it overrated? What's funny is how assmad they get when you point out just how butchered that version is.

This truly is soul vs soulless
They either 1: Didn't buy WW, or 2: Bought WW
That's all that matters to Nintendo.
It's likely that they don't even play videogames anymore. I mean they were what, 14-16 when WW came out? It's been nearly 20 years. They're probably married with kids and don't care about new videogames, or they're the kind of people that don't play games for a decade then come back and hail breath of the wild as some incredible 10/10 because they never played far cry.

It's damn bad actually. What's with all those girls having bigger breasts than in the game?

shitty art is shitty

I do remember a lot of complaints about the style when it was revealed. I saw lots of reader letters about it in gaming magazines. People wanted or were expecting a realistic, darker and more mature looking Zelda game because of the Spaceworld trailer and as a natural progression of OoT/MM. Dark/edgy stuff was really popular in the early 2000s. Getting a "kiddy cartoon" seemed like a step backwards.

NINTENDO

I was fine with it. I noticed the Deku Scrub thing, but it didn't hinder me too much. The Zora swimming didn't even register. I read about the ice arrow things and while it was a stupid change that I wish they didn't make, it just makes certain thing more obvious. Aesthetic changes have their highs and lows. The game running at 60 fps is an astounding improvement.
The one thing I'm completely baffled by and can't really forgive the remake for is the awful Gyorg battle.
>Everything in it feels like shit even just moving around in the water or as a deku
You just cherry-picked the two things that might feel bad, everything else feels much better (especially gyro aiming).

Glad we agree. Fuck western artists and their obsession with increasing breasts size to make it "more ok".

i love this game
