its pretty slow to get into honestly; the game only actually 'starts' when you get the third party member, and you only get to make meaningful decisions once you have the fourth party member and you get to the library. before that it's incredibly linear, as it's pretty much just "clear the dungeon, level up your guys, then fight the boss", but once you get to the library you actually are in a position where it feels more like a jrpg in that you can start effectively grinding and collecting cards and stuff. it definitely takes a while to get into but it's worth it if you can hold out. i usually replay it once or twice a year and each playthrough is easily over 100 hours
