P-please don't bully me-e-e-eee
Still going strong 8 years later.
Got the 1060 and the other half of the RAM for 200 eurobucks sharp back in 2017.
>all these HDDs
user, what are you doing. Invest in some SSDs
Getting a bigger SSD, more RAM, and Zen 2 within the next few months.
Why not wait for zen3's?
NO WAIT DONT POST THEM OP WILL HACK YOU IF YOU DO
Just get a huge DRAMless SATA SSD.
Zen 3000 is Zen 2 user.
how shit is it?
>inb4 3gb
built this pc for 400$
user a i5-2400 is like $20.
Another 4GB RAM stick is $10.
A fucking good GPU is $50-100.
And a SSD is $20-80 for 120 to 1TB (SU650 120GB to SU800 1TB).
>amd
Also >49°C for a fucking sandy pentium
Time to repaste or a new heatsink (MX-4 paste $5 and $3 for isopropyl alcohol to remove old paste and Freezer 12 or 33 for a cheap but good heatsink).
You could upgrade it to be really good for really cheap.
Says the smooth brain with a prebuilt.
It's alright.
>windows 10
spoiler alert: it's trash
>Locked Skylake CPU
>No SSD
>Slow ass RAM
>1060 for 144Hz
Why user.
gunna upgrade to ryzen 3 and a 2080ti at the end of the year.
What do you keep on the 1024x768 display?
would I need a new mother board for the cpu since thats what seems like the hang up I had according to the friend who built this out of spare parts back in like 2015, only thing I ever upgraded was the gpu before
Not him but doesnt matter if the resolution is shit having a second monitor is always good.
3gb version it's fine for most games anyway
>finally got some cash for a full build with a 1660ti and a I5-9400f but had to pick up dual 8gb ram
>have to wait a week before the stuff arrives
I can't fucking wait to stop using my fucking FX-8320E and RX480 and playing some games under 30 fps no matter what because of my CPU
laptop
Looks like I won't need to upgrade for at least 2 more years. I feel bad for 4K fags. They need liquid cooled quantum tunneling particulometers just to get a solid 30 FPS.
I am looking forward to the upcoming POE league with my PC. I had a 6600k and a 1060 before.
You didn't need to upgrade your 480 desu, you were being mostly CPU bottlenecked.
>1660ti
why the fuck do people fall for this shit
a 1070ti is literally the same price right now
not in my shithole country sadly.
bought the new cpu few days ago
waiting on a new cooler because the stock one literally runs it to 100 degrees if i play anything remotely taxing
Bigger numbers are better.
>would I need a new mother board for the cpu
No, the I5-2400 is a sandy bridge CPU, the G620 is too, both use the same socket.
Both use the same socket but performance difference is huge, see: cpu.userbenchmark.com
And when it comes to the GPU you can either get a new GPU like the GTX 1660Ti($260) or a RX 570($120-170).
Or if you have money troubles a used R9 270 or 270X($40-70), any of them would be a huge upgrade from your current GPU.
When it comes to the RAM any DDR3 1600MHz still will work, look for 12800U in the name, avoid "R" RAM since its for servers.
I have a computer with a 1050 Ti but it's not for gaming.
recording software, calculators, task managers, sometimes other tabs
usually stays off until I need it tho
it was a prebuilt
ram speed is as high as it goes on the mobo
I have a GTX 970 and want to upgrade around when the new consoles come out. Wondering if I should go AMD or Nvidia next time, kinda only care about raw horsepower and not meme features. Also think an i7 4790k will last me another GPU upgrade? Not sure how much resolution effects CPU performance, I plan on going 1440p next time, maybe some 4K since my TV is hooked to the PC too.
Hate that speccy thinks my gorsair memegeance is unknown, Just upgraded my cpu ram and mobo from a FX-9370 it's nice to be able to run anything I want and not worry about stuttering. GPU will be upgraded sooner or later I don't think I wanna pull the trigger on a 2070 only to have it explode in a month.
Speccy hasnt been upgraded since 2016 when Avast bought the company behind it and fired all the devs that were unrelated to CCleaner.
Your SSD is a little toasty.
Ah, makes sense also doesn't say my CPU its a 8700k if it isn't obvious enough.
I'm not sure why, Sometimes it caps out at 50 as well and has been doing that for a while now
Welcome to plastic SSDs, my BX500 runs at 60°C.
Would 8gb of ram bottleneck me in any games? DDR4 if that makes a difference.
Just upgraded the mobo, saving for a 2080 or something now.
What's the smaller HDD for?
Probably not, but you want 16 anyway.
The Sandisk SSD Plus uses a plastic case, reason why it gets so hot.
All SSDs are hot by default but mid and high end 2.5" SSDs use the case as a huge heatsink for the controller which is what gets hot in them.
860 EVO, MX500, WD SSDs, etc use the case as heatsink, see pic.
did a bit of research before buying the stuff and not really.
But yeah if you can get 16gb eventually, do it.
16GB is so cheap these days you might as well just get it. You don't know when Samsung will start price fixing again.
Archived anime from the early 2000's.
And the backup for that HDD?
Bottleneck alert.
enable XMP, user
I have a collection of DVD-R's somewhere in a box.
>2070
It is sois. Wait until NVIDIcùcks drop the price way down.
>They'll eventually drop it after the consequences of their shit decisions, such as banking on cryptominer monies and memeTX selling like hotcakes, come bite them in the ass and they need to recoup losses before the next big fiscal year rolls in
ignore my low-budget storage, everything but the CPU/RAM/Mobo are re-used from my older cheaper computer.
the RAM is G.Skill FlareX CL14 3200.
yeah it's fucking horrible i'd love to grab a 1080/1080ti
>scaplers/inflation since nshitia discontinued it have made them 800 and 1200 dollars respectively
>GPU will be upgraded sooner or later I don't think I wanna pull the trigger on a 2070 only to have it explode in a month.
Wait for computex to see what comes out.
Both nvidia and AMD want to release something there:
twitter.com
If you want something like a 2070 class GPU just get a Vega 56 for $300 and OC the snot out of it. Navi ain't gonna be much better, best case.
Bit outdated, Built it 2 years ago.
>windows 10
>intel
>nvidia
>Vega 56
Obsolete since 1660Ti is a thing.
I tried to install Windows 8.1 on a 60GB SSD and it was a huge mistake. I was rubbing up at about 10GB just after the initial install, running whatever updates were out in the wild, then doing a disk cleanup. Shitsux.
2GB more RAM, and it's significantly faster in most titles. Also, I said $300 but that's just for AIB models, you can get a blower style for as low as $250, which is under the cost of a 1660 ti.
>Buying a blower GPU
>Ever
I see you enjoy jet engines and your GPU running at 90°C.
How'd I do?
Bought this Laptop in March of 2017.
It's so fucking slow please somebody buy me a new toaster
>double 4K
But why?
Here ya go.
I need a better gpu, but since there are no good demanding games coming out for a while i will just keep this shitty card for a few months. I also need to change my old psu too.
>something like a 2070 class GPU just get a Vega 56
I use my old Lynnfield computer as a storage server now.
It was a beast in its day, though. Core i5 750, Radeon HD 6870, shit was hype.
Buy a used haswell computer for $80 and move the parts there.
1050 isn't a terrible card.
It's trivial to OC a Vega 56 beyond stock Vega 64 performance, even with an undervolt. Real world performance if you're actually smart would be closer to this:
anandtech.com
In fact, with a Vega 56, it'll actually sometimes run very slightly better at the same mem clock speeds, since Vega 56's mem timings are tighter.
gamersnexus.net
GamersNexus used PowerPlay Tables to get a 56 beating a stock 2070 in most titles, but you can get close enough to that without doing something quite as reckless.
gamersnexus.net
One is a monitor and the other is my living room TV. I game on the monitor and only use the living room TV to watch movies.
It works but it just makes no sense when the 570 exists.
i play everything on ps4 because of trophies why did i even build this
This is the motherboard for that Lynnfield. USB ports out the ass.
It's getting a bit old now but it still does fine.
I'm thinking of upgrading to 4k next year and upgrading my GPU. Not sure though. It depends on how the GPUs available then perform at 4k.
The first pc I built had that same CPU. I was so excited when I put it together and booted it up.
I went from an old Dell that had a Pentium 4, 1GB RAM, Geforce 6800, with a 1024X768 monitor to an i5 750, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 5850, and a 1080p monitor. To say the performance leap was massive would be an understatement.
water cooling is for fags who like rgb
user, your Motherboard may be on fire.
i use it to boil water, turn a turbine with the steam, and power the block.
every other program says i'm at 43-55C while speccy says 100+ all the time. some compatibility issue with ryzen 5 i think.
>single-channel
>no XMP
>Ryzen
user, FIX THAT SHIT
upgrading as soon as i get a job
I have asus motherboard its usually at 100-120C faulty sensor or speccy bug I dont know but ive had my computer for 5 years and it hasnt broken or caught fire or nothing so I guess its just a bug like I said before earlier
She's still kickin'. If I want to upgrade though i'll have to replace half of my hardware due to compatibility issues unfortunately.
It was my third PC. First was an Athlon 64 3700+ followed by an Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (also a beast in its heyday) then the Core i5 750 as my first Intel build.
Computer that replaced it initially ran a 4670S then I upgraded that shortly before Tekken 7 came out to a 4790K, which it still runs and is my best PC.
Efficient. I like it.
do y'all fuckers even know what XMP is or what
>everyone pretty much still at 16gb of RAM
phew, I thought I was falling behind
No wonder I never heard of that CPU, it uses that LGA 2011 socket.
I plan to go to 64GB soon.
r8
I was at 16GB in 2013, now I'm ready for 32GB.
I feel you, it's really starting to bottleneck these days. Thinking about a rebuild.
Its not Speccy but ASUS motherboards have a shitty sensor that loves to die because they cheap out in them.
I am not the type of man to completely fill a chassis with fans. I prefer to have a CPU running at a reasonable level where I can just air cool it within standard spec (at worst with an aftermarket fin cooler).
>Water cooler for ATX computer instead NH-D15
>Horrible airflow
>Gigabyte mid end motherboard
7/10.
I plan on making a game on this btw
it's a xpg flame ddr4, speccy can't even recognize it
Do you really only have two memory slots?
Perhaps think about cooling it off first?
>HP Stream 11
user why, a used thinkpad with a GPU is the same price but way better.
It can tell the timings and whether it's dual-channel though. Seriously, fix that.
No, I think I see black slots, he's only using the red ones.
pls dont bully. Hardware in the third world is expensive.
it is speccy, misreads a lot of new parts, it needs an update
63c at Idle?
Intel Integrated GFX?
4GBs of Memory?
Less than 100GBs of storage TOTAL?!
user... I'm so sorry...
>getting mad at a Kaby Lake i7 and a 2080
You have some high standards.
Its an HP laptop, there is no such thing as proper cooling or good heatsinks.
That model uses the keyboard as a heatsink, Yes, welcome to HP.
Nope, even with old motherboards (Haswell ones which are properly supported by speccy) this happens.
The 114/115°C comes from the sensor dying and the motherboard reporting the maximum possible temperature, other sensors report 127°C for example.
My only method of 'cooling' it I can afford is putting it in a more open space.
I didn't buy it. Parent did mostly for school, it's all I've got and I've had it for more than 3 years.
>tfw bought 4x4gb instead of 2x8gb for easy future upgrade
Being dumb is suffering
Nice. Get more memory and a 2nd monitor tho.
I regretted it.
>I didn't buy it. Parent did mostly for school, it's all I've got and I've had it for more than 3 years.
user a thinkpad with a I5-4300m and a GT 730 is $200, you cant be that poor.
Even one without a GPU is way better than what you have.
read the thread autist, a lot of people with new parts have errors on this shitty software. if everyone posted hwm screens we wouldn't even be talking about this.
I had a celeron too. Things will get better soon, user, don't worry.
My computer doesn't even have more than 3 USB ports, I have a bunch of multi usb ports plugged into it. It's a Frankenstein's monster with tumors. I can't even play DOS games at full speed.
My next PC is going to be a Kaby Lake i7 machine but FAGGOT INTEL says that no Coffee Lake-compatible board will accept Kaby Lake CPUs.
Dab on them haters
Go AMD, friend.
I'm planning to buy a 500GB SSD and another RAM soon, but I just changed two 23" 1080p for a 32" 1440p and I'm much more satisfied. Two monitors ticks my multi-task-but-actually-do-nothing syndrome.
Is it true that having two ram sticks is better than having just a single channel? I hear things about less efficiency and limiting bus width with just a single stick, but I have to wonder if it isn't overblown.
Speccy only has problems with stuff that came out after 2016 because that was the last time it was updated, ASUS has used shitty sensors in their E, A(Now Prime) and K motherboards for ages.
This is a problem for all programs not only speccy you fucking retard.
fix what stop being an autist
goddamn retard
I'm pretty sure it was deliberate. They don't like me playing video games at all and one of the things they got on to me about was even having chrome on it because I was watching you tube videos on it. I eventually got around the issue as I got older when they stopped giving a shit about my computer and I just now play emulators because almost all of my steam games don't run very well.
Examples:
>Fallout New Vegas
>Age of Empires II HD
>Psychonauts
>The Ultimate DOOM
HWMonitor in a Haswell (2013) motherboard for example.
Check your motherboard's manual and make sure, if you have 2 sticks, that they're in the right slots for dual-channel to work. Also, if your sticks you bought were advertised with speeds above 2400MHz (you have Ryzen, so you should have sticks with a higher speed) then go into your mobo settings and enable XMP.
i have a single stick where are you getting i have two and need to configure shit? ryzen 5 2600 and xpg flame ddr4 16gb work completely fine. you autistic spazz.
Hopefully going to be picking up a Razer Blade 15 soon.
>Gaming laptops
>Razer out all things
user you just need a GPU upgrade.
If you're using Ryzen with only a single stick of RAM you are completely gimping your performance. Even if you don't notice it, you're losing at least 30% of your performance. Even more since you're running your mem stick at a lower clock speed.
Yeah, you're good except for that 660. Get a 1660 Ti.
Get another RAM stick so you get Dual channel if you have one.
>Why
30-50% performance difference.
>Can't OC cause bios loop
it hurts
Dont you have a switch in your motherboard for that?
why did you buy hedt to not take advantage of your pcie lanes via nvme raid or massive amounts of quad channel ram?
It's more about the portability for college. And my entire set up could use a upgrade. 4th gen i5, 16 DDR3 at 1600 MHz, and a 660.
Explain
Then atleast look for MSI or Lenovo laptops with huge heatsinks.
Razer is expensive low quality shit in general.
>clear cmos
It's not a CMOS issue, every time I boot it false-flags un-identified new hardware and loads the default settings.
The ASUS Z97-A has a switch that allows you overclock from Windows without the need of touching BIOS.
VII Hero being "better" i assumed it would have it.
>Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) is a small amount of memory on a computer motherboard that stores the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) settings. The BIOS is the software stored on the memory chip on the motherboard. It instructs the computer on how to perform a number of basic functions such as booting and keyboard control. The BIOS is also used to identify and configure hardware in the computer.
>For no boot or no display issues, clearing CMOS may help recover the boards because that restores the BIOS default settings.
tl;dr: it resets your BIOS boi
A friend of mine has the mid 2019 Blade 15 with a 2080. It's pretty damn powerful and has surprisingly good temps.
user buy a used I7-7400 and another 8GB Stick.
I really need some ram
That's an i5.
Still good advice, though.
Sorry, i guess its time for me to sleep.
And yeah I5-6400 and I5-7400 are cheap and a huge upgrade from a pentium.
Maybe a new mobo and Zen 2 when that hits, too.
>That GPU
>No SSD
Ran out budget?
:)
Yes.
Will I need an upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077?
Probably not, but maybe budget for a 1660 Ti anyway.
the cpu is OC'd btw
roast me all you want, what should i upgrade?
You're good for now. Maybe the CPU?
>1070
>1080p60hz
don't hold back your GPU like this user.
Nothing that I can see. Skylake should be good for awhile.
As suspected despite being an old model of alienware...its shit.
got sort of "memed"(it was more a deal than getting memed, but yeah) into buying an GTX 1060 6GB MSI Gaming X+, which is supposed to be factory overclocked. How significant/insignificant is the factory OC? Slightly significant? Completely insignificant?
A big cheap SSD for games, outside that nothing.
Outside that nothing.
just got that 6700k 2 weeks ago damn...
>GTX 745
user buy a real GPU.
That is a glorified GT 730 which is shit.
Factory OC is minimal (1-5% more) you should always do manual overclocking with MSI Afterburner.
thats next on my list dude dont worry, whats the best monitor i can get for around $200?
Its pretty good i got the pc for free from my friend :D
This will actually be superior once next generation is in full-swing. The catch-up will be very noticeable and not many games will be viable on 1440p or 4k.
all i play are indie games and rocket league
I'm not sure if I need manual OC(yet) though? How much extra performance could I get away with with my my 1060?
I really need more RAM
Planning to:
-Upgrade to an i5 9600k.
-Double my RAM to to 16Gb.
-Add a 480Gb SSD.
What do you guys think?
good news but also bad news i just got a call that my grandmother died and i'm inheriting 3000 dollar which parts should i upgrade?
Its a improvement but rarely more than 15% more performance.
If you are trying to get everything out your card or you are about to replace it its worth it.
Just star over from scratch
can almost run minecraft on fancy
>82°c
Time to repaste your GPU user.
>9600k
Overpriced for the performance, go Ryzen instead.
>Double RAM to 16GB if you have only one stick do it, if you have 2 then wait.
>480GB SSD
860 EVO>MX500>SU800
SU800 was on sale at 1TB@80 USD recently so check if its still going.
Built last february.
And that CPU temp must be a bug or something...
should i buy an amd cpu so i can still use my windows 7 ?
A friend of mine wants to sell me his 1080 for 70 bucks to buy a new game because he bought an 2080 ti so that's a good deal right?
I'm done upgrading for the next 5 years
See
Use HWinfo, Hwmonitor, Ryzen master, etc to check temperatures.
Totally, used 1080s are $400.
And yeah just get a Ryzen 2600 or wait for Ryzen 3000 series.
$300+ or don't even bother.
There's a nice $310 Dell 1440p/144hz freesync if you don't mind TN
amazon.com
Viotek also has a $300 1440p/144hz VA panel, but it doesn't have any adaptive sync
newegg.com
Acer has a nice $350 1440p/144hz IPS panel with 1ms latency, uncommon for IPS panels which usually have higher latency.
newegg.com
And if you're thinking about 4k/60hz, don't. Also if you're thinking about 1440p/60hz or 1080p/240hz, don't. 1080p->1440p and 60hz->144hz are both monumental upgrades, while 1440p->4k and 144hz->240hz are minor upgrades. Your 1070 can definitely handle 1440p/100fps+ with setting tinkering so don't handicap yourself and settle for a lower quality monitor or go full retard and go all in on only resolution/framerate.
Sorry m8, that's what happens when AMD forces Intel to finally add moar cores, and devs start actually expecting folks to have a minimum of 6.
Yeah but when that things launches it will be worth a fucking kidney here in the third world
Hopefully you got it used. A $275 6700k is the same as a $139 R5 2600 in performance. Unless you exclusively play 1080p, you paid a higher premium for no gain.
1080 for $70 is an amazing deal. That's a solid high-end card for less than a franklin. Your friend could easily flip that card on Ebay for $350+.
horizontal orientation = regret
thank you user! should i rather wait for the new 3000 series or buy the 2600 now what would you do
Thank you user!
>inb4 Tiananman Square
the gpu gives me buyer's remose
1050ti has like 50% the tdp. if you only play like dota/overwatch or something like that and want a quiet and silent card its not a bad choice.
Why? and what did you upgrade from user?
I can cook shit on it
what the actual fuck are you cooling that ryzen with that it's running that hot
it's not fx, they don't run noticeably hot!
I could've settled in for a 1080 for a little more cash and gotten nearly 1.5 times the benchmark.
speccy has issues giving temps for some ryzen, this is the actual temp
Might upgrade RAM soon, sticks are like 4 years old now.
The only reason to get a 1050Ti is if you have a SFF or 240W office PC.
Otherwise its pointless since 25W more is nothing.
its 75w vs 120w (in theory more like 140w) actually but i will agree the 1050ti is very overpriced
