Combat wise it's one of the best but god everything else is such a fucking mess. Terrible story, massive amount of re-used areas, mediocre mostly unmemorable soundtrack (though there are a few great standouts), getting 100% is insanely stupid without a guide unless you play through the game like 5 times I could go on. Negatives aside it's still worth playing just for the amazing combat/job system but it's far from perfect.

The story would have actually been really fucking good if they just made the sad ending the only ending in the game. Imagine going through all that thinking you can bring back Tidus only to accept what you've refused to believe the whole game - he was never really a person and he's gone for good. Giving Yuna a final goodbye in the farplane would have been perfect.
Plus, the best combat system in the series. It legitimately could have been the best FF game to date. If only they didn't add those other fucking endings...

I've been playing this, and this sounds a bit weird. I've got everywhere in the world, and haven't found a high level area to get my ass kicked. Every location available to the airship. It's the same 5-6 enemies. Nashorn, mushroom, bug, wolf, iron giant, bird. Just the background changes.
