Yes. The Chosen and mercs from the new factions are so laughable unbalanced, but it's worth playing through at least once; if only to experience the insane about of changes/fixes and improvements they made to the game.
I just pray you aren't playing this shit on console, because the Xcom 2 without mods is complete shit, especially on top of the game-breaking crashes the console version are still seeing.

MEC Troopers mod and Bio Operative mods are fun, they bring back the MECs and Meld as well as they can.
