Something that confuses me a bit is that the original trailer showed a lot of stuff happening in combat that isn't appearing in this video.

The combat video doesn't show any sort of player control outside of selecting cards, but the trailer shows weird stuff like this "Bar" thing in pic related, as well as fights happening while everything else is time stopped.

So I have a few theories:
1. The original trailer wasn't actually gameplay and was just a video. (Potentially a tutorial for use in the full game)
2. As you progress through the game, you gain abilities that allow you to influence battles between turns. These are essentially small mini-games/quick time events. For example, pic related might be an ability that brings up the bar, and the character gains more damage depending on how far the bar is filled up when you click.
3. These are just fancy anime effects that happen when certain abilities trigger (Such as passives on equipment, cards, etc). They don't actually require player input or anything.

They're a special noon that pops up later in the game, so theyre somewhat tougher than the other noons
they constantly heal with corpses, but theyre slow and dont really do much other than kill clerks so you can bunch up everyone and take em on one group at a time

I feel like theory 2 holds the most weight. Looking at the gameplay footage it's clearl everyone has basic gear and the cards available are also basic. They all feature people in suits doing various things, but there's nothing seemingly out there like what's described in Lobotomy. Weapons and armour that outdo EGO, crafted in back alleys, or found in ruins. I'm putting my bets of this being relatively low-level.

It's definitely in the early game because the original trailer showed characters doing hundreds of points of damage, while the combat alpha only shows damage around 10.

It definitely looks like there's some sort of mechanic where weapons can grow into stronger weapons somehow (Possibly all the abnormality related weapons). I assume Hod's was either triggered from being the last one alive, but it could also be round based.

Admittedly the last bit with Hod(?) going full anime is a bit more spectacular than what we see up to that point, but that feels more like a teaser as to what is actually possible later in the game.

Do clerks actually do anything or are they just made to be bait for abnormalities? You can't really interact with them at all so I assume not, but I think I read something about how they actually do matter in-game. Then again, the awful translation makes it hard for me to figure out most things and I only just now learned that it's important to do missions.

Also, this might also be autistic, but anyone else have trouble paying attention to dialogue in games when there's no sound as the text goes by? It's one thing I noticed while playing that there's no noise other than the music during cutscenes, which bothers me. It doesn't have to be actual voice acting, but at least just a "dddddddddddddddddd" as the words are typed out. I have no problem reading like this when it's a real book, but I can't focus if it's a game. Maybe it's bluelight or something

Yep, if you're gunning to end the game, building a workforce of max statted characters is a thing you should probably do, but not necessary. Especially not something you should bother with if it's your first run from day 1 without any suppressions. You'd get more value out of simply doing the game quicker, getting a few key rewards then going back to the start of the game. The two big ones are extra lob points and all employees start at III in all stats. A super late game reward as well is increased stat caps.

The steam group was made on the time the regular server host quit and there was no alternative. Now there's a new host and the group is used for colonizations and pubcrawls because no constant thread no more. I see no problem with anons playing with anons at dedicated user server.

Given that it had a woman who looked way older than she actually was and a girl with a goofy horse face, I'd say no. The draw was more that they hunted stuff down as it was causing trouble, like a cane that would cause tremors in the earth, or stopped people from using powerful ones, like the aviator goggles of the man who dropped the bomb on Japan, which gained the power to recreate the destruction seen through his eyes if you put it on.
It was honestly a neat show but it petered out near the end.
