Should cheating be allowed in online video games? Personally I think no.

What arguments are there even for allowing cheating in games?

So it feels inclusive for bad players :^ )

There's no way to have a conversation about this because cheat authors and game makers collude as well the mob is involved in it. Russian social engineering will sandbag any serious discussions about it. There's already stupidly easy ways from a game design perspective to mitigate cheating and that can be seen in ASSFAGGOTS. The idea that people won't give up their privacy for a cheat free game environment is pure idiocy. Anyone who knows enough about privacy knows they could run their anticheat client on a separate install away from sensitive data. You could also develop a platform for competitive gayms in a similar vein as a console system so that cheats couldn't run on it. There is a multitude of ways to defeat cheating and it's literally a crime that it doesn't happen.

Very few games actually disallow cheating. The few that do, have been called racist because it (obviously) caused mostly Chinese people to be banned. I think this has scared devs even more.

Absolutely. Cheating shows the flaws in a game's code. If the devs don't patch it, everyone can know they're shit devs with a shit game.
If the devs patch out cheating, you know they're competent.

Has there ever been a single game that actually stopped people from cheating?

Yes. It's racists against cheaters to not allow cheats. Online cheats should be build in to the game. It's the only way forward.

The good ones

Sure In Dedicated custom/private games unless map making. Halo did that pretty well.

multiplayer games for cheating? no
solo for fun like gta? sure

Sure. They're just games.

In pve grind like payday 2, yes

Game was fucking shit until I unlocked all the guns, mods, skills and just played how I wanted. Niggas were shooting with the basic rifle from cover while I was sanic'ing around with a no armor build and modded out twin handguns having the best time of my life.

like, for instance?

I'm not fucking spending several days months trying to farm several copies of an item that has a 0.000X% drop rate.

are you talking about MHW or some MMO?

and the definition of a game is a competition, played according to rules, decided by skill, strength or luck. cheating is against the rules, so as soon as someone cheats you can no longer define what you're engaged in as a game. which means you can no longer win it anyway.

For everything outside pvp, yes.

Yes. In a phantasy star online sort of way. Fuck the drop rates. Fuck the level 200 mags. I wanna insta kill all bosses at level 1 with aesthetics because fuck you and because I said so, also watch me telepipe through this locked door.

Cheating is only justified for something monotonous, imho. Sometimes devs do really dumb shit and put ridiculously low chances for optional key items or common equipment.
Wanted to try and complete Dark Souls 3 the other day and get the Platinum trophy, but the last trophy I need requires me to either fight AND win in PVP in the least summoned covenant or farm a mob with a literal less than 1% drop chance for one out of the 30 items I need.
And for Monster Hunter World, I have to farm monsters just for the chance of finding one that's larger or smaller than the average size.

These kind of things drive me up the wall.

then it wouldnt be cheating now would it
