None of them are bad entry titles. They're all pretty much the same game with a lot of tutorials. Platinum is a very good Pokémon game overall.

LeafGreen or FireRed would be a good starting point then Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, (optional: HGSS), Black (or White), Black2 (or White2, they are sequels), X/Y and finally Ultra Sun (or Ultra Moon).

For the newer battle mechanics plat/hgss aren't bad to get into the graphics are comfy and since they're your starting points the mon selection won't bother you. BW/BW2 arent bad either.

Platinum is great. The gameplay is a bit slow, but other than that it's a solid game.
BW2 and HGSS are also very good.
You can start with the GBA titles as well but gen IV games and beyond are more pleasant in my opinion, you can always go back to the previous titles later.

Just play the mystery dungeon games. Mainline series is same shit over and over again and the competitive scene is smash tier retarded autism. Gamefreak atleast makes good waifu fap b8 so if thats your thing over RPGs just pick the ones with best waifus in your opinion and beat your junk to it.

Platinum is great. Honestly though every Pokemon is okay to start with since most of them are pretty similar. But make sure you check out HeartGold and SoulSilver as well.

Emerald is the better Nuzlocke experience due to greater Pokemon variety but FRLG has the Vs Seeker for easier grinding. Both offer unique experiences and both are fun for nuzlocking, although Emerald gets VERY tough towards the end unless your team is well balanced. Tate and Liza are legitimate run enders and all the gym leaders have the potential to really fuck you over.
