I think the stages could be big and open like the Tenkaichi games to open the possibility for multiple combatants and to put some emphasis on movement.

god why isnt there a sonic battle sequel? that game was genuinely fun as fuck and it was a nice take on the formula rather than just straight up make a smash bros clone but with sonic characters in it. and you had emerald who you can customize to have the most broken move sets in the game just adds to it
