I thought I was supposed to hit light attack and low if they atttacked low or high if they attacked high. They do a terrible job of explaining that it's just whatever direction the enemy is attack is coming from

Platinum had become known for its hyperbole at that point so if anything people would have been disappointed if something like this didn't occur, plus in MGS4 Raiden breakdances to take out Geckos so we'd more or less seen the shark over the horizon we were due to jump.
I mean, Metal Gear has never really been all that restrained if you go over it.

You can facetank/run away from anything up to Monsoon. That one attack he just becomes a tornado of body parts that multi-hits and stuns fucks you hard if you don't know how to parry right.
