Capitalist girls are cute!
CAPITALISM, HO!
The devs are dumb and should have just made a sequel, now theyre bankrupt or something.
didn't the game sold well?
It did very well, but the devs went off and made semi related games to Recettear which didnt fair well at all.
Octopath Traveler 2 when
MY
BLADE
IS
Recettear? Aren't those the bravely default guys?
BLADE
UNPARALLELED
THANK YOU
AW SHUCKS
GREEN PEA
SOMETHING THE OTHER ONE SAYS
The game sold pretty damn well.
But they're setting up a prequel sidestory on the mobile phone while the ACTUAL sequel is in development.
MY FOCUS IS UNPARALLELED
Adventure HO! L'Chaim!
I want the sequel to have an overarching story with proper party interactions, but I don't want it to lose that personal, down to earth feeling the original story's had.
Will you buy Octopath?
Yes I will on sale looks super comfy
Is this out for PC yet?
>draw your sword, erdhardt
Best part of the game, fucking fight me
MY BLADE IS UNBENDING
>PC Cuck
I don't know, but if/when it does, I hope you enjoy it, fren
Yeah this game deseved more love especially since i cant think of a nun sandbox game where you can trat soo poorly those inocent NPCs
But Primrose is the Best tho
FOR YOU!
Did you make that? It's pretty fucking good.
Nah, I got it a while ago around when Octopath was released
I'd love for that too. Hopefully they'll be able to do a better job with that in the sequel. Hell, I'd take Chrono Trigger dialogue any day over pretending that the rest of your party doesn't exist in story mode.
I'm thinking about trading in Sekiro once I finish it for Octopath, since I heard Sekiro doesn't have much replayability.
Buy my fucking book.
I need more MEMES
tressa is literally the only good thing in this game
I'm gonna have sex with Tressa! For free!
>For free!
Okay ped-
>Tressa is 18
It's not every day you see a Japanese game where none of the characters are in high school age
I don't have any money, is there any other way i can rep- why are you sitting like that?
Who's the one with the steel ball? I'm counting 9 characters.
ophilia is doing something important as the bearer of the flame but also has to babysit a group full of immature edgelords who hate themselves
>Cyrus is 30
>The game doesn't treat him like an old man past his prime
Practically unheard of.
>Final dungeon is only available after doing secret side missions and specific way your bound to get wrong blind
Who developed this
You can't get the side missions wrong.
Side missions in general are pretty terrible
>I need [something]
>Side mission accepted, with no clue as to where to go, or even what to find
Oh, I see.
How old is Olberic?
35, I believe. But the game likes to treat him like the wise old father figure
This is the most comfiest song
youtu.be
Although these two are close seconds

Shit, if Cyrus is 30, I would have thought Olberic was in his later 40s.
Tressa > Ophilia > hubter girl > gap > whore
This thread is even more embarrassing than the game.
youtube.com
this might be my favorite from the whole game
This except swap the jew and Haanit
I kinda wish I had enough commitment to finish Octopath, I really love the gameplay and aesthetic, but I only really care about a handful of characters, so asking to play any of these people Chapter 3+ just comes across as a grindy chore.
Hannit
>strong stats
>useful skills
>has a cool animal companion
>great cook
>and she's cute
>...but speaks in nothing but "thous", "-ens" and "-eths"
This alone kills her character for me honestly
I hope you guys play the game in japanese
Absolute homosexual
whateth a faggot thou art
Post the full.
I prefer the english battle quotes
i can't find a use for her in the party at all.
Alfyn has concoct which makes him one of the best easily. He's also one of the most likable characters.
Yes ot instantly turns Alfyn into a chad hot blood shonen protag.
Therion is the best sorceror in the game lmao
i hate how everything is quantified, i never want to use my Summons or Concoct ingredients or elemental spellstones or anything because i keep thinking "i'm gonna need all of this shit later when i fight the endgame stuff"
Already have it on switch.
youtube.com
This song is probably what got me into the game while playing the demo.
youtube.com
They give you that bp enhancing item like crazy though, and most stuff is buyable.
you can just go get the summons back
use them
you can buy and merchant and steal more concoct ingredients
use them
concoct especially you can be breaking shields like crazy
Give me some similar games lads. I need to fill the void.
Sequel announcement at E3 please Square.
are you retarded user?
no you're getting your prequel mobile game and liking t.
bought it on switch, would buy the pc release if it didn't have denuvo
Olberic's Chapter 4 was fantastic.
>Aye, he has the right of it. We'll protect them, together!
So fucking happy I picked him as my main man
>when his pre-battle theme kicks in before the boss fight
My favorite moment in the entire game.
Why would I ever do that when Olberic is voiced by Patrick Seitz
This one is the best of the eight for sure
Literally who?
You have good taste. I'm mildly astonished you would recognize "My Quiet Forest Home" and put it second to Riverlands though.
I AM READY
ARE YOU?
release date is 7. June
I wish this game would get some DLC. Some excuse to re-play it.
Haanit is a gimmick character, but it's fun to capture enemies and then use them against other enemies, even though I don't think it's ever very useful.
But Dracula is Béla Lugosi
>Notte desiring to parten H’annit’s sleek, shapely legs and feast upon her ripe, unwashed piss-flaps
Oh, Anonymous, my good compeer. Tellen me; been thee the sort of man who prefereth the compananionship of other men? In this modern age, there is no need for one such as you to be ashamed of being a homosexual; indeed, if thou’rt truly worthy of such ridicule, the subject of which lies elsewhere. However, I would asken for thy silence when discussing the matter of attractive women in the company of others; thine opinion clearly is not quite as valuable as mine own.
He voices Samson in Skullgirls if you don’t follow dubfaggotry
I noticed a lot of you guys aren’t quite doing H’annit speech right, so here’s a handy dandy guide to oldspeak so you can shitpost better
You add en or eth to the end of a verb when the verb has an object and you don’t do it to past tense verbs
>character speaks normal Japanese
>DUDE YE OLDE ENGLISH LMAO
>Normal Japanese
Are you gonna educate us on her speech patterns or somethin
I’m glad this came out on PC so more people can enjoy it. When it came out, people really focused in on the negatives, like the lack of interaction in the party and some of the dungeon design. Its easy to overlook the fantastic battle system, the engaging customization and the interesting characters. I loved it.
Ahem
FUCK TRESSA
>Playing the meme localization
The battle quotes are fun.
Octopath is a very clear cut example of dub over subs
OPEN FOR BUSINESS
I will when I have the money for it.
Olberic?
Jew
>make her subclass warrior
>"I WILL CUTTETH THEE DOWN"
>"WATCHEN MY BLADE DANCEN"
Cursed image, do NOT open.
She is Italian
I still find it surreal that Kirbopher voices this twink.
There's jews in Italy, too.
>t. Italian
English Therion and Japanese Therion are basically different characters.
How so? Is he less brooding in JP? More?
I was talking more in tone of voice. In Japanese he's pretty quiet and subdued even in battle.
He needs to be snarky since none of the other characters are.
How would you like a sequel? Personally, I want them all to travel to another continent.
Interesting. I think I'd prefer the English version then even if I did hear the Jap voices, mostly because Therion always did insane damage thanks to his divine skill. Also sorcerer Therion is great.
(((petty asshole)))
Should I buy this? I need something to tide me over until SMTV.
New cast, new world.
I got it last week and I've really enjoyed it. Would recommend.
Are Warmaster and Starseer just inferior damage and supports compared to Sorceror and Runelord or am I doing something wrong with my party?
>Sorceror Cyrus
>Runelord Tressa
>Starseer Primrose
>Warmaster H'aanit
It'll presumably be a new cast and new world/setting. Although I'm afraid what they'll do it with it.
How the heck are you getting more damage out of Runelord than Warmaster. Just charge their final skill and let er rip.
I only found out that nuts permanently increased your stats after 80 hours
This would fix problems of engagement and helping everything not feel pointless but I feel like the combat system needs overhauling too. They basically just took what worked in BD and slapped it on Octopath without crafting a system around it so strategy goes out the window and combat never becomes anything more than stockpiling turns until you get a shield break and then using up everything at once for damage. The classes are all really good and interesting but there's just this fundamental game mechanic that isn't utilized to it's full potential.
>game includes you as a character without your permission
she's a damage dealer with a decent amount of utility. I think some of her captures functioned as decent healing spells if i remember correctly. I need to go back and finish that game though, H'aanit was quickly becoming one of my favorites while was playing through the game.
I always thought that she was supposed to be a teenager but Square Enix said she was 18 to not deal with any Treehouse bullshit.
Seitz hadn't even gotten into VA work when that game came out. He did a decent job with dub Ragna so i don't hate him like i do most dub VAs, but lets not lie about his work to make him sound better.
user, thou shouldst realize h'aanit does not speaketh proper olden english either. so following that chart doth not produce a proper h'aanit accent.
that's wrong though. Primrose, Therion, and H'aanit are all better in JP, while Olberic is better in EN. the rest i haven't spent enough time with both languages to form an opinion on.
Make them like this, but mix up the teams cause this made phase 1 unbearably long (and phase 2 really easy).
Tressa is easily better in JP.
America can't into teen voices
JP Olberic is pretty good too though. He's just more serious and isn't hamming it up like Seitz.
Ophelia legitimately sounds autistic in English that's reason alone to stay away it ruins the scenes she's in
Best boss fight and why is it Olberic's chapter 3
Sucks that you have to do the boss gauntlet again when you fail.
What other recent purely-turn-based RPGs are worth playing?
I can't stand all this timing based (basically minigame) bullshit in all other recent RPGs I've seen. I want to be able to play entirely at my own pace.
Good to see other jap voice enthusiasts. Yea Forums is full of dub lovers but original voice is where it's at.
Tressa's character is fun, but her story has a fucking awful ending.
Olberic has a fantastic chapter 2 and 3, but then it has a real lame chapter 4 because thing need to be 4 chapters long.
Primrose has the most consistent story overall.
Therion's story is collecting Dragonballs with the lamest villains ever.
Alfyn is best boy.
I'd say most of the stories suck because they don't account for other party members. Therion's and Primrose's are affected the most by this. I hope that in the sequel, they divert some of that time they spent writing two-page biographies for every NPC in the game to making it so the characters interact outside a handful of three sentence exchanges at the tavern. You don't even get group conversations until you beat someone's fourth chapter.
It also causes major disconnect when you have someone like Tressa gleefully working with Therion or everyone just glossing over Primrose being a murderer out for revenge.
Checking out random NPCs in this game was actually useful since you could recruit the worthwhile ones into battle.
Therion has the best chapter 4 boss though.
Did anyone else never buy a single item the whole game? It was way too easy to just steal everything.
Make her a thief and she's pretty much untouchable in duels.
I had her as warrior and dancer most of the time though
I'd only do that for Therion since it's strange hearing Kirbopher in a legitimate game title
BUT OF COURSE
>warrior ophelia
Why?
The only things worth buying from actual shops are Concoct ingredients. The rest of my money went to NPCs, who usually have cheaper and better equipment, and also just to save time instead of savescumming the low% steals.
Tressa has the cutest
>lowers defense as thief
>"Be niiiice!"
I'm glad I found this thread.
I think I'll start a second playthrough this weekend.
I'll give the sequel a shot if they make some big changes but I sold the game after completing four character stories. I don't like the way it wants you to do all chapter 1s then all chapter 2s and so on because it all feels so unrelated. Even if you do only four chapter 1s and then go back to a chapter 2 there's this weird disconnect in the timing that throws off the urgency and makes me not give a shit about already boring stories. And it's almost inevitable the leveling curve with be thrown off for some of your characters at some point because of the disconnected nature of all the stories
Olberic's bombastic lines have their own appeal too.
>fighting Galdera
>have the wrong team composition
>H'aanit and Primrose were swapped
>Tressa and Therion had to carry the fights on their asses
I am so glad that Fortitude is a thing
I might start a new one too. I was thinking of going through with each character solo this time through.
Runelord feels more useful than Warmaster, and its relatively weak 35 SP skills on H'aanit means I can use three before I'm out of mana. By weak I mean they don't really hit multiple times or do significant damage. Not to mention no utility. Considering moving it to Olberic since Warrior feels like it'd work better with him.
As for starseer it just feels like a weaker support, I'm not really sure what makes me feel that way, maybe it's just too unfocused?
I haven't unlocked the final dungeon yet but I have sort of picked up on the fact I need all my characters for it, so it'll probably be a while before I do it. Alfyn's level 10, and I need to rethink my party setup to accomodate everyone. Thinking of splitting em into an elemental focused team and physical team with starseer to supply BP for Warmaster.
Also Cyrus marries Therese right?
Why are jew girls so cute
The power dynamic of being with a girl who has more money than you is hot.
I ran with Sorceror Tressa because she's the only one who can equip both Wind Damage Up weapons and has a worthwhile EAtk stat
Cyrus was the Runelord, Alfyn was the Starseer and Therion the Warmaster
I chose Tressa because Transfer Rune sounded like it would combo well with Sidestep and Rest. Alfyn Starseer sounds like a good idea, actually.
Tressa has cute feet
Runelord passes on the damage, whack an elemental rune on sorceror Cyrus/Ophilia and watch them do 18k damage a pop.
Surpassing power, then back to sorc unless you're going for meme potential.
>Steal with Tressa
Sooorrry
I'm not looking for 100% authenticity in a SE fantasy, but don't just slap an '-eth' at the end of every other word and call it dialect.
The real shame is that some genuine middle english would've made for some great dialogue - battle lines especially.
I want to mating press creampie soft girl Ophilia
>Therion's whole story is that he doesn't work with other people after getting fucked over years ago
>He actively tells others to in the very beginning to fuck off since he works alone
>THERION WILL NEED DARING ALLIES TO HELP HIM BREAK INTO A MANSION. WILL YOU JOIN HIM?
Also the idea of Olberic and Ophilia joining Therion to help him break into a mansion not for noble intentions, but just to satisfy his own ego as it's supposed to be impregnable, is really dumb.
>Savescum to steal the Golden Axe
>Give it to Alfyn
>Destroy Miguel despite my party's levels only being in the mid to high 20s
Equipment is fun
I think there's a disconnect, they're there for the battles, but the way you restart stories at taverns, means it's more likely they're just 8 buddies travelling the world together, and telling each other of their exploits at taverns, which is also why the banter scenes go back to the tavern rooms
>No fetchquest to bring her a seashell
>No superboss to get the seashell
>Not finding a child in her usual spot when you're bringing the seashell back
>No child telling you that his grandma passed away while waiting
>Not putting the seashell on her tomb
So much wasted potential
Miguel is one you can do easily I thought, pretty much the first chapter 3 I did, just needed to abuse leghold trap shackle foe, and double sidestep
Why waste two hours savescumming an 3% item when you can just buy it?
With Tressa in your team you get much more money than you can spend.
Do you actually use the steal money move or whatever it is in battle?
Olberic also has near batman levels of joy when curbstomping thiefts and burglars in general
I think Primrose it the reason why stories arent connected becouse most the other 7 character would look at hthe cargange whereber she goes and say nope and run away
>Cyrus marries Therese
He remains oblivious.
You don't even need to, Tressa has a passive ability that gives you more money for each battle. Plus she finds money every time you enter a map.
therion can run sorc with 3 fire weapons making him the most effective, many others can get 2xelement but only therion gets 3x
the other dude has the right idea with tressa, passing out free sidesteps with runemaster is busted
Sure, Transfer Rune + Sidestep is great (against physical attacks) but I really like watching my girl hit for 67k per hit on Ventus Saltaire
And she does it twice because Cleric's Ultimate Skill
This is why Therion works best as the protagonist over the others, you could justify him being a softie underneath his edgesterior and helping the others but you can't really justify 90% of the party joining him because they want someone around who can open purple chests
Darius did not deserve to die the way he did.
If I can pick between two high damage dealers and one very high damage dealer and one character that doesn't compare for a two-phase fight with two different teams,I'm gonna go with the former
>Therion actually stole 4 masks to sneak in
>When Darius' goons laugh and taunt Therion because he's outnumbered, but the party of four actually outnumbers the three goons
>Alfyn and Ophilia just watched Primrose bleed out in the floor for a while until the other guy walked in and saved her
It's funny when you think about it.
That doesn't make sense because tressa can still shit out damage as runemaster while therion shits out damage as sorc
Her damage as Runemaster does not compare to her damage as sorc
And Cyrus is a very good Runemaster on his own
You can say all you want, but this composition is what got me through Galdera's two phases at a much lower level than usual
ok buddy
I would say they didn't want to show Therion kill him, but they did want to have him die as comeuppance, tht said they let that happen to Miguel no problem.
Wrong. This is the comfiest.
youtube.com
Nah, he totally did
YEAH
I'VE BEEN DYING TO TELL YOU ANYTHING YOU WANNA HEAR
CAUSE THATS JUST WHO I AM THIS WEEK
He's voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi in the JP audio.
>All of the dancer artwork is of Tressa and Primrose
>None of it for H'aanit and Ophilia
I think Galdera is mainly about how you deal with the attacks, saving grace, hang tough, patience etc. + inferno amulets for phase 2, thunderstorm amulets for phase 1
Warmaster shits out 60k damage with very little additional prep work. Very useful to have against Galdera's final phase.
>Get evasive maneuvers on cyrus
>Get evil ward on ophilia
>Start exploring the entire world at a low level because I can just run from any of the few fights I encounter
Ive went and did every characters chapter 1, and my 4 favorite characters' chapter 2.
Should I try to do everyones chapter 2 at once or should I just continue with my main party and go back to do everyone else later?
here's your prepwork
>give character Fortitude and BP Eater
>have him die then revive him at 1HP
>feed him revitalizing jams and watch him cleave that asshole apart
Make sure you got someone else with Cover to tank the hits for him
>revitalizing jams
Meant to say Energizing Pomegranate
That sounds interesting, I might give it a try when I beat her chapter 4.
Do everyones chapter 2, then everyones chapter 3, etc. Keep some semblance of difficulty.
Grinding levels for my unused characters fucking sucks though
Then don't. The game gives you a lot of flexibility in tackling it however you want.
Just put good gear on em and take em through their chapter scenario without running from mobs, should get to the desired level on their own.
If anything the difficult is constantly skewed in your favor since your 'MC' is constantly overleveled
You know, it makes sense that other protagonists can beat whatever bosses that they end up fighting, but tressa doesnt.
She had to be saved from the pirates by leon, and yet somehow she can beat omar, who is supposed to be an extremely expensive and powerful bodyguard.
If you didn't smack bosses around with max boost mercenaries, you're playing Tressa wrong.
DId they really do that much damage, I never used hired help
What were they thinking with that voice. Total different in tone with the dub.
Not a fan of Greg Chun in general, he does nu-Ike and Eph and I'm not big on either
If the boss is broken and debuffed, it's competitive with some of the more damaging non-secret class skills, assuming your cash holds out.
He's great as Lucas in SoV but in every other role he's only tolerable. Though I would argue as Alfyn he's a bit better than Ike and Eph, mostly because he actually goes above a whisper at times
I think he's got the right voice at least, it's just direction that needs work. Ike's new yells in Smash sound absolutely great, but then he taunts or says a victory line and it sounds all wrong and too quiet.
I think his voice in Brawl was absolutely better.
I'll meet you in the middle and say it was better for RDIke, but I like Chun more for PoRIke.
How useful is the surpassing power passive?
It says that it increases the maximum damage that can be dealt to 99,999, but I don't know if I'll ever hit that to begin with.
No, but the old damage limit is 9999 which you can hit with 4* specials and pursuits, so you want them on your qualified damage dealers, that easily hit 9999
tfw you reach the 999,999 damage limit.
>Chadren voiced by olberic and artanis
its like pottery
Would you be okay with an Octopath in Smash
Which one would you want
Genuinely made me like Jiren more. For Dragonball at least the english dub is king.
Tressa, or H'aanit have the most potential.
Olberic would be a Cloudlike, Cyrus would be like Robin
How the FUCK am I supposed to go through the snowlands while /comfy/ bed playing without falling asleep with the switch falling on my face ?
youtu.be
Yeah right.
THE WINDS OF FORTUNE ARE HOWLING!
