It's still based on the number of turns passed, but the conditions are much more lax on most missions, so you can slowly take out most of the enemies on the map and still get A rank.

That's part of the reason Minerva hates him so much though. On top of being way hotter, Kai's leggings are more practical for combat too. 'Ears' aside her look's one of the more reasonable ones. She's hot because of how her figure fills it out, not because it's super inherently fanservice-y or something.

It's not a sequel. It takes place at the same time as VC1, the events happen in parallel. Although VC4 does end some time later after the Empire withdraws from Gallia.

why is there no valkyria general on /vg/?

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that every squad traveled in their entirety to the coastline instead of sending a few scouts so the rest of them could stay concealed in the mountains rather than risk trapping themselves in the open with their backs to the sea.
Its not squad Es fault everyone died its the result of the incompetent leadership from every squad that took the word of a friendly soldier passing by while their entire force was being routed by the enemy as gospel and expected to be greeted by a full on invasion force that traveled over a body of water that is normally intraversable that time of year without so much as considering what would happen if their information was wrong. Had squad E been there they would have died as well since they were in such a tactically poor position with no supplies no winter gear and in the open with no line of retreat. Its a miracle (or rather plot armor) that ANYONE survived that battle because of Minerva and the other commanders lack of planning

Did you miss the part where they were on death march with no winter clothes, food, ammo, or anything else? They either reach the shore asap, or die hiding in the mountains while they wait for their dead scouts never to return.
The command fucked up too though, since their ships were late.

How the events SHOULD'VE unfolded there:

>the ships are already there and they protect them and take them in
>squad E is late and the ships have already left
>squad E freezes to death

Look, whose to say what help Squad E would have or haven't been. But ultimately the point was that they broke orders and weren't where they were supposed to be. They decided to attack a side base that would have been repaired before they even got too far from it and as a result the other soldiers where undermanned. They broke orders and people died. That's the simple truth of it all.

This is one of the biggest problems with the games writing. The game wants to insist Claude is super awesome but they can only show that by making everyone else super shit, which is especially grating when Claude's own actions are actually super shit too but the logic of the game world wants to ignore any logic that would point to him having fault.

His plans are bullshit, his wind whispers are completely fucking retarded and he whines constantly. He's not only unfit for command, he's unfit to even be in the army.

They where supposed to regroup with everyone else. And what if they all died on that side quest? What if they were all gunned down because the gun train worked like it should and not by bullshit game logic? The entire cruz of any defense Claude has is "It worked out this way, that means we were right." It's shifting the blame after the fact.

Ill concede that it wouldn't likely have been enough to save the others, but the fact remains is that he was reckless, made the illogical call that only just worked out by coincidence and isn't fit for command like the game wants to insist. It's backwards results based logic.

Arguably the most egregious decision was the one to travel to the mountains instead of following the rest of their forces retreat.
They were not ordered by a superior officer to make the march but took the word of random group of soldiers during the enemy's surprise offensive when friendly communications are in a frenzy, and willingly and knowingly abandoned their existing supply chains to march in freezing temperatures without winter gear to meet an mysterious invasion force that somehow crossed an incrossable frozen coastline.
Remember the ships were a highly classified secret and its unlikely anyone on their front would have known about it and yet they still expected them to be there.
Any logical commander would have continued to follow their allied retreat and even if they had to fight back to friendly lines atleast they'd be fighting towards both friendly positions as well as supplies.
Everyone who even attempted to cross the mountains should have died long before they reached the coast ether from exposure or from running out of bullets during their skirmishes along the way.

I fully admit the mix-and-match map system is weaker than large tailor-made maps, but it's still relatively interesting because your routes will depend on how the obstacles and enemies are allocated. It is the strongest argument against the PSP games, however.
But the core gameplay isn't any different from the console versions. You get significantly more customisation in the PSP games too (decking the tank/APC out is particularly fun). Console games also don't have area effects like dust storms, heatwaves etc, if I'm not misremembering.

They ALL traveled across the mountains. There's a mountain reach that separates Siegval from the sea. Those who didn't turn west were chased down by the main imperial forces. Just the fact that Squad F and the others were even on the shore should be enough proof.
And actually they were indeed ordered to scatter and turn to the sea by an officer before they all went radio silence mode.
Apparently Operation Cygnus wasn't so secret, since they did actually know about the ships. Well, not the ships, but that the Federation reinforcements were supposed to wait them on the shore at the very least.

Can't steer balloons. They also probably need to carry quite a bit of ragnite payload in addition to the valkyrias themselves, plus the equipment.

The valkyria-kid-bombs were made in Vinland. They probably don't have the valkyrian artifacts there, unlike in Europa.
