To be fair, it's one of the rarest fixed drop items in the game. Not the rarest Unique, that goes to Atziri's Reflection. But definitely the rarest drop from shit like Atziri, U. Atziri, Shaper, Elder, U. Elder.
And man, it's probably not gonna get the nerf bat. It's strong, but rare as it should be. It's only trending in the extremes due to overpowered spells like Winter Orb.

Arohongui, Daughter of the Moon, was preparing for a feast to celebrate Tukohama's return from his war on the First Ones of the Ezomytes. Tawhoa, Son of the Forest, asked each of the birds to sacrifice one of their kind for the feast. He gave these offerings to Arohongui who cooked them in a great fire-stone pit.
Seeing all of those plump birds cooking made Kitava very hungry, and he offered to watch them, to make sure they didn't burn while Arohongui rested during the heat of the day. Arohongui thanked Kitava for his kindness, but while she slept, Kitava ate the cooking birds, flesh, bones, gizzards and all.
Upon waking, Arohongui was furious to find Kitava had lied to her, for saying that he would watch the birds when he truly intended to eat them all up. When Tukohama arrived home in his mighty canoe, Aohongui asked him to punish Kitava for his selfish gluttony.
Tukohama, our Father of War, agreed and pulled the sharpest tooth from his own mouth. He then asked Arohogui and Tawhoa to hold Kitava fast while he cut Kitava's face with the tooth. Two slashes that blinded Kitava and formed a bleeding cross upon his face.
From that day forth, Kitava would never be able to promise to watch that which he truly intended to consume.

I've played a couple of seasons of PoE now, but I never listened to the story. I don't know what the fuck is going on and why we're doing what we're doing in this game. All I know is that we got exiled to this place. But what happens, why we are in a settlement at one time, only to return much later to slaughter them all? I don't know. They tend to recton stuff every few major expansion. The old character selection screen clearly stated why each one got exiled but GGG thought it'd be better to make it more vague, change the location from the boat inside the storm to the inquisition halls as well as change the narrator from the character to the high templar because 3.0 was about Oriath. Similar things happenend back when Dominus became the final boss or with 2.0.

Although Kitava was blind, he could still cast his line and feel when a fish took his bait. So Tukohama and Valako took him with them on Tukohama's mighty canoe.
But while they fished, Kitava grew hungry and secretly ate all of their bait of grubs and worms. Disgusted and angry, Tukohama and Valako decided to use Kitava as bait instead. Valako used his own jawbone as a hook, impaled Kitava on it, and cast both into the sea.
Kitava sank to the bottom of the sea, but instead of the fish eating Kitava, it was Kitava who ate all of the fish that nibbled at him, flesh, scales, guts and all.
When Tukohama and Valako hauled a fat-bellied Kitava back up from the sea, they were even more furious, and knew that Kitava must be punished one final time.

And there Kitava remained, in the darkness of Hinekora's night-clad island for time beyond measure. There he suffered, waiting for the day that he could return to the world of light to slake his scorching thirst and satiate his ravening hunger.

What's the best season starter for the new league? Thinking of returning to PoE. Last time I played was during incursion and delve leagues where arc trappers/totems were the go to for an easy and solid season starter. are they still strong or gutted after being so good for so long?

It's the story that teaches you about mechanics, the passive tree and masters.
90% of the game is in the Atlas, which comes after beating act 10. The story is slow as hell the first few times you do it, then you learn how to blow through it.

Gladiator is the one who'll get the least value out of it with how easy it already is for him to reach block cap
It'll be better on jugg or other similars who get a bit of block chance but dont reach cap

Realistically speaking, how much investment does this build need to work properly?

it will depend on early pricing. i would assume around 50 - 60c once diadem falls to reasonable prices.
invictus solaris usually lands at around 10c pretty quickly, i personally wont pay more than 40c for a diadem, cast on skill craft is only 4c if i remember right but you can probably buy one off other people for a pittance as well before you have it unlocked
after that everything is just rares or luxury like a spidercraft item + fenumus' shroud combo

it is. you better wait for the new league to start tough. poe has this really neat release cycle where theres a new league with new mechanics and content every 3 months. the best time to play is in the first month of a new league since everyone starts over fresh so everyone is on equal footing. most people play solo but i found the ideal way to play poe is with a group of 3.

Spells will still be way easier to start out with because they don't rely on weapon damage. They're making all these changes and yet it's still going to take 10x the currency for a melee build to clear endgame content as comfortably as something like a cold dot occultist.
