Super Mario Run was a red herring they could point to to say single purchase mobile games don't sell and so they were forced to resort to gacha models for future mobile titles

God being a moralfag is killing me. All the gameplay I've seen paraded around is of 50cc with auto drift on. Going to 150cc and having manual drift makes the game feel and look much more like regular Mario Kart.

This isn't red herring since they're right, they dont sell. People who buy from these franchises on their console aren't gonna swarm to the app store to buy these games on their phone. Even if they made a full blown game at a decent price, that audience would probably just prefer them to remain on their gaming handhelds and consoles. The gacha free2play approach allows a quick free download and playable experience with optional pay options. If you dont like that, uninstall and go back to your consoles with your favored series that still exist.

I kinda prefer it being a gacha f2p game instead of a full on mario kart game. Why would I want to pay to play play a neutered version of a franchise I love? At least with the gacha shit it'll have the benefits of a gacha game with the large roster and level variety plucked from the entire franchises' history. Hell we can even get new Mario characters who haven't been in a MK game before. Ninty could even collab with Squeenix for Mallow and Geno. Also we could even get the arcade tracks as well.

Unless it has characters that will either be new to MK (Pauline, WarioWare characters, Dixie Kong, etc) or characters that have been ditched (Diddy Kong) I'm not into this one.
