I'm special because I get to play the Nioh 2 alpha, and you don't.
I'm special because I get to play the Nioh 2 alpha, and you don't
You're special alright.
IS THAT A
What would you say if I told you that I'd already played the Nioh 1.21 patch so I'm not too fussed if you get to play the Nioh 1.22 patch.
When does that DLC come out?
what do i give the sudama??
What do you give the little purple fuckers? Anything?
Hatchet low stance combo spinning right into fire killing myself in the process. Fuck that move.
Are they still sending out codes? Anyone get them recently?
is there a Mark of the Conqueror this time around?
any vids of people playing around with spear? does it have any new techniques?
Is this going to actually improve upon what 1 lacked or is it just DLC tier ?
Do we learn anything new from this Alpha that's not character creation/new weapons ?
So far it's basically just the first game, but with some tweaks. No more living weapons, instead now you get soul cores as random drops from enemies and they give you special abilities that you can imbue onto your spirit. No story info either.
I played a little bit. I'm enjoying it, but it feels like less of a full-blown sequel and more of an expansion pack. Lots of the UI is the exact same, combat is mostly the same except for a few new weapons - etc.
Now, I'm not complaining. I loved Nioh. Got the platinum trophy and everything! But man, does this feel iterative.
THANKS FOR BETATESTING
flying bolts are still cuter (hope they're there along with all the great Nioh 1 enemies, teamninja only needs to adda alot more cool enemies while keeping the old ones in)
So far it looks like it addressed the casual complaints very well. There's been many new enemies shown which will be added onto all the old ones that get new moves, most armour types all come with at least one locked effect and the yokai skills give more variety to the stuff you get. But as far as the minutiae is concerned, stuff looks quite similar and many opportunities to fix or revert things are of course unused. Stuff still hits hard as hell so Ki is still less pronounced as an example. I would know more if I could play it
The yokai form is the Living Weapon now.
CRAB SPIN
Can't wait for Sony to censor this.
>loot and crafting is the same as 1
souls brainlets on suicide watch
>they didn't change the UI at all so you still have a 5 mile long list of shit to sift through
i'm on suicide watch
Is there going to be any reward for completing the alpha like there was with some of the tests for the first game?
Wew, just beat that first level. Didn't die at all, but the boss took me like 20 minutes to beat because I was taking it real slow.
The game seems just a minor improvement over the first game and since I already enjoyed that I'll for sure be getting the sequel. I don't really want to play anymore of this alpha though, I think I'd rather just save the experience for the full game.
They also didn't change the easy sorting and select options that make going through a full inventory extremely quickly.
Thanks for the literal beta testing
nobody even played nioh 1 though, who cares
Speaking from experience, you're better playing as much of this as possible in case they change it drastically for the worse. There's a long time till it releases.
>you're better playing as much of this as possible in case they change it drastically for the worse
Did that happen with the first game? I never played any of the test sessions for it?
The enemy AI aggressive levels were toned down significantly. That was the biggest change.
Hatchets are pretty cool. You can quickly flux between stance and chain the throwing moves. Low stance ones are quick and you can throw a bunch and then flux to the heavy for the harder hitting ones. I'm finding the high stance skill lethal barage to be very good with the followup square at the end. I only hope the weapon gets more skill slots because it doesn't have any L1 square moves. Definitely mentioning this in the feedback.
It did. Almost all the main issues cited about the game, particularly in the balancing, were exposed or made far worse due to many changes made to systems, stats, mechanics and enemy layout, count and behaviour. Plus they ruined the camera angle, homogenized the 1kat sheathing animations and removed the YOOOOOO from premission loading.
Thoughts so far on the alpha?
>Hatchets are pretty good. Aside from the rest of the moveset being strong, having a non-limited ranged attack that charges relatively fast with three different versions at a time is strong. Especially since high stance throw can break horns and hit large enemies twice when fully charged. What the hell is the hatchets' weakness supposed to be? High Ki Consumption?
>Yokai Shift is a welcome improvement over LW due to giving stagger immunity and a full new moveset. Not too happy with forms being tied to the guardian spirits but at least the element of the spirit doesn't affect it anymore. Still kinda faceroll though. Revenants being able to spawn in Yokai shift is kinda scary.
>Grapples on Yokai and the yokai shift grapple look pretty good
>Enemies pulling an entire area into the yokai world might actually make the yokai world effect actually relevant especially in boss fights
>Soul core skills are strong, especially with the spirit that lets you heal off of the damage you do with them. The meter is supposed to limit you but it charges pretty fast.
They gave out a place to send feedback with the codes too? I expected it but never really heard it yet.
I DON'T HAVE ANY THOUGHTS BECAUSE I DIDN'T GET AN INVITE
THE BOSS HAS WAY TO MUCH FUCKING HEALTH AND THE BULLSHIT TORNADO IS INSTANT DEATH
The throws leave you kind of open and otherwise their melee range is pretty short. They also do seem like their using a good amount of ki. They're not as fast as the dual swords from the previous game either.
Surely the four weapons in the alpha aren't going to be the only weapons in the full game, right?
LW already gave stagger immunity. The new movesets look cool but I hope there's plenty useful moves to each as that was the main thing that made LW so dull.
>Odachi has its own Backwave now
The first game's Alpha had three weapons.
I forgot to test it but I'm guessing the hatchet skill eagle shadow would be great for breaking yoki horns. Its the low stance one where you throw it high up.
Simple square high stance attack did it for me, followed up by triangle square combo made most of them a cake walk. It's still not as reliable as the Kusarigama's attack.
I hope and assume there will be more like last time. The only question is if they'll be returning weapons or completely new ones.
Don't lose hope user. Seems like they're sending the codes out in waves, I only got mine yesterday too. Maybe you'll get yours later today?
High throw for sure is unsafe as all hell if it doesn't stagger but mid and basic low throw usually have a bit of time to dodge out of the way or toss up a guard. Also the Human enemy AI tends to screw itself over with preemptively dodging the throw during charging
Yeah low is the safest but they do eat a good bit of ki.
>What the hell is the hatchets' weakness supposed to be? High Ki Consumption?
Limited attack range on normal moveset and the fact it can move you forward into the hazards. You're forced to stay dangerously close to most things.
Other than that it feels like a refined version of both 2kat and tonfa. The only thingi t lacks is the SotC equivalent
Spear has a fun new ability in low stance that lets you jump in whatever direction after a ki pulse. Its kind of similar to the foward x one.
Do all the elements have the same effects? Corruption is basically Earth but what about Purity, what does that do?
I used 2kat as one of my main weapons last game and its kind of similar but a lot more different. Its definitely a bit heavier and the throws make it a lot different. The triangle after deflect move is a lot better than 2kats moon shadow. It doesn't have a god of wind equivalent which in my opinion was 2kats true defining and best move.
>Corruption is basically Earth
Nah, it's way better and comes with sentience mechanic.
Purity removes all status buffs from yokai which will most likely come extremely in handy on higher difficulties, plus increases the amount of ki and yokai force damage as well as buffing your own ki recovery.
Kind of wish their was a way to manually activate the sentience guage.
Does the demo give any location or character names, or any dates? I want to know when the game is set.
The blacksmith loli doesn't look that much older, but her gramps is dead..
It happens 45 years prior to the original game, in 1555.
Though with MC being half-yokai by blood they can easily include ridiculous timeskips if they want.
A direct sequel would be disappointing.
This would be fucking amazing. Shingen and Kenshin in their primes and young Nobunaga.
so they did change the old weapon skill trees a bit? sword looks exactly the same
>yokai weapons will actually talk to you at full sentience
i love it
In terms of what the status ailment does, not the extra Sentience thing, and Earth was actually pretty effective at boosting Ki damage. I don't know which of those effects are from the weapon and which are the status ailment but Corrupted and Blessed weapons seem a bit too much if it's tied to specific weapon types.
A bit, but there's empty nodes and previous game's alpha modes didn't include the whole moveset.
where are her arms?
They are fucking shitposters
At the very least Purity is an onmyo buff and it can be accessed immediately.
Has there been other sentient weapons found aside from the odachi in the first mission?
>snake
>arms
How could I tell she was a snake lady from that pic? So what is the context with that character? Generic enemy?
yes
Yeah, she's called a Nure-onna
:(
>we might meet papa Hanzo when he's younger
I hope Shoe-chan is in the game
Let me guess its an "improved" version of nioh 1 with extra feature, which coincidentally looks exactly the same as nioh 1 because its a lazy asset flip by koie tecmo.
I really like the Ippon-datara special attack. Reminds me of high monk from Sekiro.
Well no matter what it's ailment is I hope that if they chose wind of all things to remove then lightning better have it's old effect or anything that isn't the slow, but I'm not hopeful.
Ok, so if anyone is wondering, for the purple kodamas you just have to drop any item for them.
I just started watching streams of Nioh 2. Can someone redpill me on what's happening with it, I'm a bit confused. I put 150 hours into the first game.
As far as I can tell, all the levels/interface I've seen are just copy+pasted from the original game. But there's new enemies and character customization and you can turn into yokai. What else is new/the same?
>Brute has a parry with retarded ki damage
>Feral has dodge offset
>Phantom has twinblade teleport throws
>hatches scale off stamina
Tank builds are better than ever boys
I found a spear sentient weapon
>unarmed is still just a meme challenge thing
FUCK that, give me an actual fleshed out martial arts skill tree
>child Hanzo doing the anime ninja run and getting yelled at by his dad
There's still a chance that there's a gauntlet-type weapon for that. Don't give up hope.
>kappa core skill gives you a kappa shell to block attacks with
10/10
>smithing text farming is back
Just as long as they give out the wooden ones at the very beginning, assuming they're still not going to fix base damage and they remember wooden weapons had the hidden modifier. I"m not hopeful.
turning off the music made this so much easier
I really hope there's an onmyo magic-focused weapon.
One thing I'm at least very grateful for is that they split buff and debuff icons, but the real problem was the limit of six icons in the row so maybe that's fixed too
ready for a dozen KT quality rehashes over the next decade?
Did you play as Anjin or someone else?
customizable character like dark souls
The Yokai Realm expanding to entire areas is a cool idea.
are the boss themes different per boss
for the first two, yes. but expect them to be reused a lot
You create a character, the only thing known about him is that some of his ancestors has sinned with oni.
Just nips or also western?
Also, not related to the alpha, but do you have any ideas how will this be managed in cutscene and dialogues? I mean, Anjin didn't talk much but there were the sporadic dialogues in the cutscene. Will we get a mute character with text replies or is there a voice choice?
That a boss? Can I capture/turn into bosses after beating them?
all races it seems
Seeing Tank Kappa Hatchet builds is going to kill me.
it's not a boss. you don't turn into bosses but you can gain some attacks of bosses and other monsters. those can also involve turning into those monsters momentarily.
How was the inventory management?
Cool, now my mage/spirt build gets a snake lady assist.
Spirit is no longer a thing.
OH MY GOD I CAN'T BEAT THIS FUCKING SNAKE NIGGER
The first boss was easy, but this one seems impossible.
CONQUERED
Conquered are only those that give up.
Snake boss is legitimately stronger than Hino-Enma. Pretty good.
What's with that cracked wall in the snake's boss room? I figured maybe you were supposed to lure him into it so he would break it, but that doesn't seem to work.
that might work if this was a soulful game like dragon's dogma or dark souls.
it's not. Nioh is Diablo 3.
WHAT
THAT'S AWESOME
Kill the arms before yokai realm activates, making that phase much shorter
i saw a guy get a spear
Ya well fuck you i got into the surge 2 beta.
