Nostalgia blinders off fellas.
What are some RPGs with top tier writing?

So I'm going to preface this by saying that anything posted as a suggestion here is going to draw out that poser kid who leans against the back corner of the room and scoffs at what others consider to be "good writing". With that out of the way, here are my choices:

>Fallout New Vegas
>Witcher series
>Bloodborne
>RDR2 (Not an RPG, but imo it has the best writing in all of gaming, and it has certain elements that include role playing)

nwn2: motb is the only one where it actually stood out as good
I can think of a bunch where it was good enough that it didn't make you cringe while working in service of the gameplay/etc., which is usually all you can hope for

Unironically the Persona series.

Unironically I really liked the writing in Tyranny.

One of the things I really liked about the game is that it really made you feel like a player in the powers that be in the world. Not some bizarrely powerful pawn that's moved around by others with little to no agency.

That's almost like something Todd would say, but you're clearly not him as Todd doesn't wear hats or masks.

Weird.

Videogame writers are so insanely bad at their jobs that new vegas writing somehow passes as a masterpiece despite being trash.

was it done strategically, or was it all just thrown at you?
I liked the writing in PoE most of the time, but often it felt like it was just flooding you with text and leaving it up to you to decide what's important. which is ok I guess but really killed the pacing of the game

There he is, right on schedule. Thinks his taste is better than others, yet anything he suggests as good writing is bound to get shit on by someone else. Probably by this fellow:
Who has taken the safe and cozy stance of "all video game writing is shit". He's probably the type to put written literature on a pedestal because the older generation would respect him more that way.

Donut County

Or maybe it's because video game writing is indeed shit and invariably fails to hold a candle to real literature. Perhaps if you thought about it for a little while you'd come to that conclusion too.

Morrowind has the most fully realized world
Planescape: Torment for the best characters
KOTOR2 for Planescape: Torment in space

>Weeb shit
Yikes!

>to REAL LITERATURE
Yeah, whatever, retard. Why don't you go to Yea Forums and see if you fit in there. I'm sure those high brow patrons of the art will take you right in.

Yeah guys! New Vegas is super trash! Hahaha! Now, why don't you stop on by your old Gamestop store and buy the newest copy of Fallout 4?

Planescape torment
Kotor 2
Nothing else

>RDR2 (Not an RPG, but imo it has the best writing in all of gaming
You brainlets and your embarrassing taste.

>Planescape: Torment

Everything else is shit desu.

you know how shit vegas is when the only defense is at least it's not as bad as fallout 4

>KotOR 2
>Chris Avellone yammers incessantly about why he hates Star Wars: The Game

Pull that trigger already, insects

Never been to Yea Forums once mate. I just read books.

Star Wars is garbage, user. That doesn't even matter though because he likes Star Wars. He's said that ESB is one of his favorite movies.

>Nostalgia blinders off fellas.

Yea Forums don't read though, they all drank the french obscurantist kool-aid. Actually, they technically CAN'T read because all language is an arbitrary game of symbols with no underlying content to transmit.

Not my thread. My first rpg was baby's first rpg, KOTOR, and my last rpg was as far as I can recall Fallout New Vegas, or I don't remmeber. I just posted this because as well as reverse calling out posers there's also showing how to admit you don't have an opinion on something and I don't have an opinion on rpg stories.

final fantasy tactics
xenogears
chrono cross
grandia 2

oh yeah forgot lost odyssey has a good story

The Witcher series. The second game especially has some brilliant dialogue, like: youtube.com/watch?v=SBXQBef3JG8

And also every line spoken by Iorveth.

I forgot to add, skip until 1:48

Having played Torment for the first time only 2 years ago, I think It's a prime example of a well written story in a video game.

Anything written by Tetsuya Takahashi

what can change the nature of a man.

>listing all the games I came here to post in one golden post
>being this based

>Bioshock
>Fallout NV
>Deus Ex is top tier at the same time quite cringy as far as dialog can get
>CoD Black Ops 3 fight me pussy it has a golden story with zero plotholes and quite the twist.

Don't attack their opinions without providing your own, anons.
