how did they get away with it?
*had characters
Watch out! TTYD fags will kill you for considering anything good from SPM.
Anybody ever use a cheating device to collect currency to pay off the 'Broken Vase' stage in that Super Paper Mario stage? (Clearing the stage without using the vault)
Cus she cute
Yep.
Yep, way back in 2016.
Post an example first.
Nah I like Mimi
I was always sad she didn't talk. I imagined her being voiced by Jessica DiCicco.
EAT
THE
SPIDER
ASS
don't
Roy is cheating! He makes any game at least a 1/10 due to him adding a point for being a cool dude!
>cheating device
you mean taping down the d-pad?
Super Paper Mario is just as good as the first 2, it's just different.
On a scale of 1 to 10 how hard would it be to adapt SPM to the original Paper Mario gameplay style?
On a scale of 1 to 10 how hard would it to adapt TTYD to SPM's gameplay style?
Giving SPM turn based battles doesn't fix the shit artstyle, jarring visuals, soulless companions, the awful 3D gimmick shit, nor the shitty main hub.
the 3d gimmick was fun from i remember of it. mayeb my memory is bad. the companions wernt so great but you got to pay as bowser peach and luigi and they were neat.
It was awful because it forced you to swap back to Mario every time and the transitions were so slow every time.
Jesus christ you talk like the game killed your parents or something
It killed my interest and hope in Paper Mario, literally nothing but the story was good about that game.
No, Shitter Star being worse doesn't make SPM good.
SPM artstyle was unironically kino though, geometry shapes are aesthetic af, it's also pretty unique, there are only a handful of games with so many geometry shapes in their artstyle
People are just completely enraged at the mere mention of the game due to their anti-nostalgia. There isn't a word for "thing I remember hating fondly".
The point being that shit gets vindicated by people almost as randomly as shit gets paraded around as perfect and pure.
New Vegas
Mimi is cute
Reminder that Paper Mario characters are considered non-canon by Miyamoto himself because he didn't create those characters and doesn't want characters he didn't make in HIS video game.
nice
The problem with SPM isn't the gameplay because all PMs have baby-tier shit gameplay. The problem is that the game relishes in wasting your fucking time, making you collect rubles with monotonous tasks, making you spell out please 5 times, making you run through endless boring fights in that samurai world etc.
One time for comedic fuction? OK. This is ALMOST HALF THE GAME.
>Super Paper Mario is just as good as the first 2
You're high.
I'd still hit it.
And only the first one you mentioned has any real point to it. Mimi's entire plan in that part of the game is to waste your time. Granted, it's still a fair bit too long, but it has context and isn't pure fucking autism like the Sammers.
The less said about having to say "please" five times, the better because that's literally something that I think nobody can defend, even the most irrational shitposter.
>You could pay off that Rupee debt without using the vault
>I was one of those dumbasses as a kid that actually grinded out the Rupees even after getting Slim
Her spider-form chasing you throughout the 'maze' area was pretty spooky, too. Her spider-form in general was unnerving as a kid, but I really like it now.
Tie down her spider legs and use her "normal" legs to help push/pull in and out. Wouldn't be so bad desu.
Even if it makes narrative sense there should never be a part of a game designed to not be fun. Because due to imperfections there will always be part designed to be fun that aren't. The result in SPM is a game that isn't fun, littered with parts that aren't fun but they weren't meant to be. The Mimi segment if made fun could've saved the game, like if it was just the quiz.
Forgot pic
Honestly, I think that's part of what makes SPM so interesting to talk about. There's a lot of genuinely unique and fun ideas that are present, but at the same time they're bogged down by the batshit insane attempts to be "funny" and/or "wacky". It's stuck in this weird place where there's a lot of shit that's honestly amazing, but it's too bogged down by the absolutely miserable awful segments to be worth slogging through unless you're really into the story or characters (when they're not caving your skull in with bullshit). It's odd, seeing something that clearly had a fuckton of effort and passion go into it but for things to still go so very wrong in so many places.
There need to be more deliberately spiteful games. I can only think of Skyward Sword and even then the devs might have deluded themselves into thinking Fi was actually useful.
I've never played Skyward Sword so I wouldn't know, but I've heard a lot of divisive things about it in a similar manner to the point where I think a similar deal might have happened to it. A bunch of crazy ideas were thrown in with almost no regard to how they'd integrate into the game proper, and as a result bits and pieces are amazing while others are a steaming pile of shit.
Skyward Sword had a lot of unique features that needed explaining. Sadly the one time I needed her (figuring out how to damage that faggot in the first dungeon) she specifically doesn't give any advice.
TTYD fag here not true SPM is the last decent Paper Mario
