I remember Homestar tried to make a comeback, what ever happened with that, are they still around?

They are currently in the process of uploading all of their stuff to youtube, including dvd segments and stuff. Also a Trogdor board game just came out and the did a bunch of promotional videos and stuff for it.

Considering it's just an old hobby that the chaps have been done with for years, I wouldn't call it "tried to make a comback", more like "made a few new toons for old-time's sake before Flash gets nuked"
I think the most recent one that wasn't just another board game ad was the halloween mr. poofers video.

This is what made it unique in my opinion. Pretty much all flash animation back then was super edgy "adult" stuff with lots of swearing and gore, and was filled to the brim with modern pop culture references that make it feel extremely dated nowadays. Homestar was different in that it avoided going overly raunchy and edgy while also being weird enough that it felt cool because it wasn't really intended for younger kids. And it legitimately still holds up today, partly because the pop culture references it made were already outdated and obscure back then, and more importantly because the jokes are really well-written and timeless. I can go watch some old sbemails from 14 years ago and still laugh just as hard now as I did back when they were coming out.

Yeah that's what I meant by "wasn't really intended for younger kids". I think of it this way: Strong Bad was always implied to have done a lot of nasty shit, but you never really see it outside of a few examples. There was never graphic violence or swearing or offensive jokes. Even when the series got extremely non-sequitur and surreal it still had this air of wholesomeness to it.

The creators of the cartoon didn't do it for any money, they did it purely because they enjoyed it, and they shared it because they figured others would enjoy it too. Mind you it isn't some masterpiece, but it is consistent in its quality. At its core, it's a simple, homely, cartoon.

It may very well be perhaps the last batch of pure soul left on the internet, that hasn't been tainted by targeted advertisement sanitation.

Sums it up. Two more eggs isn't that bad, but you just have a desire to go back and watch Homestar instead. I understand they didn't want to use Homestar, I can't imagine it ending well with Disney taking control of it, but it's clear they basically just tried to put a new, less interesting coat of paint over Homestar Runner for it.

this is the only telltale game i own and i've never played it

its comeback was never really meant to be a big thing, far as I'm aware. It just went from "literally not updating for over 5 years" to "we update like thrice a year now I guess."
last year felt pretty sparse even by those standards though because they put everything into a board game based on trogdor. I guess there was a decent amount of content if you care about that but I kinda spaced out on it. At least they consistently do halloween toons each year since they came back.

It's based on an agreement between the original devs and the license holders.
That's why the Scott Pilgrim game has had such a difficult time trying to get a new release because the license is split between Ubisoft, Universal, and Oni Press.
