m8 the lizardmen are based on actual civilizations and shit, not tribesmen who paint themselves with mud. Maya and Aztec cities could get fucking huge (the Aztec captial was like 4x the size of 16th century paris in terms of size and was as populated, for instance); and had legal systems, philosophers and poets (see pic), etc and shit too
they basically ranged from ancient mesopotamia/egypt to ancient greece/persia tier depending on which civilization in the region you are looking at in particular
