Would the Advance Wars series have been better if they removed the bullshit fog of war?

The fog of war never really got on my nerves and I think its nice for forcing you to be careful on where you put your units
This motherfucker and Colin on the other hand
FOW is half the fun. Stop being dumb.
Yeah you right. The mechanic that has been around since the literal beginning of the strategy genre is bullshit, and doesn’t force you to actually strategize.
yes, fuck fog of war
How can you strategize if you can't see enemy units?
You mean that mechanic that appears in like 3 or so levels per game?
Or do you mean the fact that the AI can see through FoW? Because Days of Ruin already fixed that.
by scouting
The fog of war is only shit in AW1 because of how blatantly the AI ignores it. It cheats in 2 as well but not nearly as much.
it can stay as long as its not a cheating cunt
the better question is, should it be more balanced or make everyone broken in multiplayer mode?
So you like having to make a recon unit then scouting the whole map while writing down the enemy placements before quiting and doing it again properly? That shit is tedious to me.
have you actually played AW?
I'm playing it right now.
This
Holy shit are all the shitters who complain about FOW underage or something? The concept has been around since DnD. Everytime some faggot cries over it in fire emblem, advance wars and so on because the AI has a slight edge needs to grow a pair of balls. Especially when games like FE and Advance wars GIVE you ways to deal with fog of war.
Multiplayer advance wars with fog of war on is a good time also, seriously if you're not playing multiplayer with fog of war on you aren't doing it right
>spoilering nonspoilers
You're the only underage one here.
>tfw co-worker and I are gonna be playing AW Dual Strike tomorrow
Anything I should know to prepare for battle?
no. days of ruin fixed the fog of war. days of ruin is fucking fun. planning sneak attacks actually works for once
Anyone saying that fow is a good design choice in single player has to be a tard.
I think you're giving underage posters too much credit.
It was fun in Age of Empires, it was fun in StarCraft and WarCraft, it was fun in Heroes of might and magic, why wouldn't it be fun in Advance wars?
>FE
>fog of war
wut
Can't run cheats in advance wars to remove it.
have you only played the 3ds games?
I played PoR, Sacred Stones and the Shadow Dragon remake
You must be remembering wrong then
This shit is literally impossible. How do I bet it?
The only issue that FOW causes is that it makes games longer (in a competitive setting, this sucks). Outside of that, the improvements make it fun in my opinion.
there's fog of war in por and ss. fireemblem.fandom.com
spot with infantry first nerd
Fog of war essentially represents lack of battlefield intel.
The most crude way to get intel is to send out a sacrificial scout, but it would be nice if more games tried to implement intel/scout specific units.
Oh wait Advanced Wars does this already with the fucking jeep and aircraft you mong.
>scouting the whole map while writing down the enemy placements before quiting and doing it again properly?
Literal autism
Fog of War is Radiant Dawn but not PoR.
No fog of war is in a total of three chapters in path of radiance, but only on hard/maniac mode.
What's infinity war? I've only played 1 & 2.
>but only on hard/maniac mode
that would explain it, did PoR have the same issue as Radiant Dawn where normal mode was actually easy mode or something?
Use COs that take advantage of movement and overwhelm him. Or you could be a jerk and pulverize them with Kanbei or something like that.
i don't know about RD, but in path of radiance, only US/EU got easy mode, and only japan got maniac mode. which is too bad because even on hard, the game is pretty easy
Well maniac mode wasn't in localized PoR (and it's pretty shit anyways, I don't know what the fuck they were thinking with the enemy density in some of the maps) but hard in localized PoR still has some of the modes' changes. The most notable being three chapters I talked about and a 2nd phase for the final boss.
Also honestly? For RD the difficulty name changes were accurate. The game was made much easier due to QoL changes
>fog of war
You're the first person I ever heard complain about this. You seem to be complaining that the game is challenging and requires strategy. That's a retarded thing to complain about when you're talking about a strategy game.
