It's all about timing. You can use the riposte normally, you can drag the riposte, you can NOT riposte and instead just follow up with a regular attack and then feint when they go to parry it.

Well for a start Estoc already fills the niche of a spear-like sword. More importantly, zweihanders were used against pikes, and they were used to swing:

I really like the bastard sword and do well with it. On paper I suppose it doesnt look like much reason to use over the messor but I just prefer the 'feel' of it.

The ticket bleed system is great. It forces the losing team to push or lose.
If you removed it, games would take fucking forever to end because it's so easy to turtle in Mordhau, defending is a lot easier than attacking.
There is no skill matchmaking in Frontline (both a positive and a negative), and Taiga is really badly balanced.

thankfully at least parry timings are fairly similar on most weapons so you don't have to relearn that. the biggest differences to learn between weapons are generally just the swing speed+reach.

I'm the guy who did the mockup cosplay, making an update that the logo doesn't go on the chest for the chainmail tabard, making it less accurate than the tier 3 tabard. The tabard with the symbol on its chest more iconic and recognizable for Creighton than something that's correct in what armor is underneath it, so I was wrong about chain tabard's existence but it's no good.
Unless you meant that there's no elk logo, which I knew, but I feel doesn't matter so much so I went with what I felt was closest in what it does to how the armor looks (mostly adding thin strips of white across it in the shape of an animal).
Unless that's not what you meant either, because there I'm lost.

This exists in order to allow you to fight back against multiple people at once, otherwise each of them could just attack at slightly different times and you'd never be able to attack back without getting flinched.

This game is okay but Mount and Blade still has the better melee system. In M&B, duels are WAY faster, chamber blocking is much harder, feints are deeper etc. Also, different weapons and armor in M&B actually feel different. They have different damage types, different effevtive ramges and so on. The effective range thing is super annoying in Mordhau, its fucking retarded and gay that a spear is as good at facehug range as it is at range.

Just about the only things Mordhau objectively has over M&B that's not obvious shit like graphics is that walls and scenery etc play a bigger role, small thrusting weapons are much better in hallways whereas retard 2h swinging is effective basically anywhere in M&B. That, and the timed ripostes are fun (though it makes no sense logically that you can't passively sit in a guard like you frequently would in reality)

Its a lifted mechanic from Mount and Blade. In that game its supposed to be like a riposte. The act of readying your sword blocks and sets up a quick strike. It makes sense in the animations of that game, but in Mordhau it doesnt always look right for all weapons and it really doesnt look right in first person because you can't see the "chamber" animation period. Just think of they direction you would raise a sword in order to prep a strike and imagine blocking an attack with that action and the swing directions make sense.

Chamber = blocking an attack with the "chamber" animation ie the windup. Clash = You and your opponent weapons colliding as you swing at each other.
Thats how I understand it.

Thats a weird way to word it but I suppose thats right, yeah. Chamber the opposite direction as the attack is about to hit you and you will chamber block it. So if the opponents swing is coming at you from YOUR left, you'll block by chambering left. In this example they're swinging from THEIR right to THEIR left, so you chamber an attack going from YOUR left to YOUR right. Just think of it like blocking their attack with your windeup anim.

Yes. Althought literally every weapon has crazy windups in Mordhau so except in those extreme cases you can probably still react.

A clash is a coincidence. To actually do it deliberately, you'd need to have a super fast weapon against a super slow weapon.

To chamber (the intentional technique), any weapon works with any other weapon as all you need to do is begin the attack the moment before the enemy attack would hit you. You see it coming, wait and use your attack to intercept it.

If they're using a fast weapon you're not gonna chamber on reaction but on prediction, at least in my experience. I can't chamber rapier thrusts on reaction at 50 MS if I'm being honest.

The guys who used them were called doppelsoldner, and were payed double the normal wage as their job was far more dangerous. The Longsword is complete dog shit for frontline, it's only viable for Dueling.

Mordhau slows your mouse speed while you're swinging. You can't be a retard helicopter in Mord.

It does look goofy when there's players running around looking at the ground only aiming for the legs though

grab a falchion and wear 2 pieces of weak armour at most. you'll need a really fast sprinting speed. pick the 'rush' perk so whenever you kill someone you instantly accelerate to sprinting speed. you can now finish someone off and then book it before they can catch up. also bring smoke bombs and throw them whenever you're outnumbered.

This is actually a good answer Was playing on a server with a guy who ig had played since alpha (thats what the crown helmet means right?). Anyways the guy was absolutely fucking dabbing on everyone. Commonly saw him kill 3 or 4 people. Over the 4 matches i played with him he had KDRs of 45-3, 80-9, 50-6, 42-2. Shit was ridiculous. He would just stay away from objectives and teammates would literally ignore the objective just to try and get his ass.

all the other weapons are shit

the longsword:
>fast enough to counter slow weapons
>long enough to out-zone fast weapons
>has a great stab AND swing
>can be turned into a club, letting you stomp anyone you come across if you're paying attention at all
there is no situation where the longsword isn't useful. if you're fighting in a group, you can use the long poke to help out without getting in the way. if you're outnumbered, it has a wide fast swing. you will eviscerate anyone in light armour, and you can club everyone else to death. not that you have to even bother, because a good player shouldn't have a problem landing 3 - 4 hits on someone with a weapon that fast and long. it's also cheap enough to give you a ton of options in your loadout to make whatever kind of fag you want.

Yeah but the weapons that user mentioned are good against people in t3 armor. You will 2 shot them. So for 1 extra hit you gain a ton of range and quite a bit of speed. I get that people love the maul, particularly for the sound it makes as you crunch some niggers head. But the fact is, its primarily good for shitting all over people who suck/are new to the game and catching people off guard

Not the user you are replying to, but this shit was already discussed in this very thread. The longsword is servicable in every aspect, but its not particularly good in any. There is always some other weapon that is better than whatever someone would like about the longsword. Unless you just like the versatility.

around level 10 you will get the hang of it and will only improve from there if you are willing to.
around 25 it will solidify and notice how most players/weapons work.

it will go from thinking too much to just actually instinctively do. seconds matter before you get splattered. your footwork will improve, you will be able to hold your own against multiple opponents. your map awareness and being mindful of yours surroundings will improve.
