My mom used to do this with small but expensive items (usually fishing equipment) for cigarette money, in certain states if you aren't caught on camera stealing they can't do shit (and even if they see you actually seeing it they can't since they're just wageslaves) meaning if you just go to a camera blind spot and shove your coat full of items you can dance out and there's nothing they can do about it.

This is actually true. Walmart specifically does all kinds of scummy things to maintain a certain profit margin depending on the store. Yours hours can be cut from full time to one or two 8 hour shifts without warning depending on the state if they need to "make up" for losses. Their biggest policy is to do something good for PR every 4-5 years depending on public relations, like raising their minimum to 10 dollars for new hires, then after the PR has been forgotten they slash those people's hours down to nothing so they're forced to quit and hire people back at basically minimum. I was involved with upper management for multiple years through Walmart remodeling and heard it from their mouths directly.

Most Walmart employees are going to be making around 1.2k to 1.5k a month, even as middle management. I know you're baiting, but in case you're just retarded.

My mom used to work at Blockbuster several years ago(and bailed out about 5 years before the downward spiral really kicked in, thank fuck). This absolutely works because employees aren't allowed to chase you outside of the store or use force to stop you(generally for their own safety because you never know if these people are armed or insane) and mostly because the company is liable for anything that happens to you while you're on the clock(and they would get in trouble with the state asking questions like "How did your employee get stabbed a block away from the store if they were on the clock?")

Actually, Blockbuster was easy as shit to rob. They literally had people just grab stuff and hold it over the sensors as they walked out and employees couldn't do jack shit about it aside from calling the police. Easy enough that a Game Craze down the street actually used shoplifting from Blockbuster as a way to get games in it's stock(the manager got arrested and the store shut down because he was a complete fucking retard and left Blockbuster stickers, and occasionally the entire Blockbuster case on the product).

Fair enough. I've never worked at Walmart so I can't comment on how the hiring and work-related practices are. Currently at a different supermarket chain, and every time I hear horror stories about Walmart I thank god that I didn't decide to go there.

They get barely anything for doing it, we're talking 50k salaries, and they're basically spying on people to keep up a quota like a cop at the end of the month. It's the worst of the worst of working culture.

Well that explains it. You basically saw a completely different side of the business than the one most applicants will see. Store Planning temps are the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality. The reason so few of them make it to a full job is because they fucking suck, even by Walmart's low hiring standards. It's basically expected that at least half of the temps hired on will be fired before the project is complete because of poor attendance/performance. If you work in an actual store, things are a lot better, because they actually expect you to do shit and you won't get away with slacking off all the time like you will in Store Planning.
