when is atlas putting the nintendo smt games on switch? what gives?
FFVII got released on Switch last month.
All attention is on persona now
Play Yik its turn based and it has shit writing and characters so it might as well be a JRPG.
Ys 8
That's not funny user
>GOOD JRPG
no such thing
This looks interesting
Redpill me
Octopath Traveller
Xenoblade 2
Ys VIII or Tales of Vesperia
Get a real console like the 3DS and then I'll tell you
Xeno2 bored the fucking shit out of me and I hear octopath is garbage
I have a 3DS I just try not to use it because my right shoulder button is busted so if the game requires it count me the fuck out
Ys is a long series by now filled with great games.
They are all action rpg's, but many of them have different kinds of systems. Ys 8 is the latest in the series and one of the most critically acclaimed both by critics and fans of the Ys series. Each Ys game feature the same protagonist, Adol, however, they are all mostly standalone and can be played without playing any of the others.
Ys 8 has a real-time action combat system that is quite fun and has a multitude of interesting mechanics, you have a party too and you can switch between characters as well.
Pic related is the MC across all the games.
Disgaea 5.
What're the pros to vesperia, I'm looking at screenshots and it's interesting me
Follow pic related. Most of the games can be played well by themselves, this is just the most optimal way, but Ys 8 can most definitely be played standalone and was pretty much made so a lot of new fans could jump on.
Romancing SaGa 2 is probably the best game you can get on Switch period.
I like this guide better, that guide's a bit outdated. But yeah, they're all standalone except for I and II.
Ancient series in which a red-haired man likes to go on fast-paced ARPG adventures with music made by a legendary sound team, this time on a comfy tropical island.
Thanks user, I'll keep it in mind for sure
>Romancing SaGa 2
Do I need to play the first Romancing SaGa to understand Romancing SaGa 2?
Nope, standalone game. If you're going to play it, READ THE MANUAL and say it for advice. Game's good but it doesn't fuck around.
This, you got my interest user but this is important info
I'm yet to see one better than BoF4.
Good real-time combat that has a ton of options once you get deep enough in the game, fun party members who have good chemistry with each other, and the protagonist is a really good character, pretty different from most JRPG leads
play the demo
Sounds good
Good idea
Demo's kinda treacherous though since the game does slow down a lot the longer it goes on and the stronger you get. Personally liked it a lot but it's fairly typical in it's faults as a JRPG.
Sounds shitty
Also I hear the characters barely have any personality/never interact with each other and once each characters story is done with they just become background characters basically which sounds even more shitty
Pretty accurate. There's some scenes where the game wants you to think the character is alone (for story purposes) even though the party was just with them in the battle preceding the scene so it makes little sense in context
Hey, as long as we're having a JRPG reccomendation thread, can someone help me? I finished Crosscode last month and loved it, but haven't been able to find something else I've liked. For reference, I've also enjoyed DQ9, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: EoS, and some of Disgaea 1.
I started trying to play through DQ7, but I'm not enjoying it that much.
>Big tiddy moth elf
>MC isn't a total bitch
>combat feels moderately satisfying
It's alright I guess. I feel like I can spot where the extra content has been inserted at least half the time, though. Don't regret buying.
Sounds fucking awful desu
The torna expansion was pretty good.
Base xb2 is completely ruined by the core crystal system though.
Depends on how you take the story. The no-interaction thing is half meme half true, the demo won't show any interactions but they start in all the chapter 2s. Despite that though, the main scenario for each character is treated as solo as the first chapter with only other characters referencing what happens during them outside the actual events.
It's a fun game with good music and a good battle system but the story is a pretty big range of mediocre to decent from character to character and chapter to chapter. If you NEED party interactions and the idea of 8 mostly seperate stories doesn't appeal to you on a base level, it won't suddenly become a different game.
I really liked dragon quest 11 but at this point id just wait for the switch port
Persona 5 is fun too
Is Diasgea 2 good?
I actually played Persona 5 and enjoyed the music and visuals a lot, but got kinda sick of it after Haru's dungeon.
Ah that's too bad
You never got to see Shadow Sae then
Are the atelier games any good? I'm considering rorona dx but I'm pretty on the fence. Sounds like it focuses more on crafting than battle, which is fine as long as it's fun, but I hear it's also more a slice of life than high stakes kinda story, which sounds weird for a jrpg
Looks interesting
Switch I can understand for the portability, but PS4? Why not just play on the PC?
Anyway, the Legend of Heroes series. Start with Trails in the Sky: m.youtube.com
Not everyone's got a gaming PC user
It is. Good story good dungeon crawling.
