ITT 10/10 RPGs only
ITT 10/10 RPGs only
okay, you start
>lol dude the Waterdavian animals
Only if its with A Dance With Rogues
this ,also vico did nothing wrong
oc is shit, but multiplayer and player made modules are the shit
I'm playing it for the first time, made a cute cleric girl and am currently at the prison. It's not a 10/10 but it's okay. Nice atmosphere.
So you can really only have one henchman at a time? Do they still have quests/backstory? So should I be swapping them out after every major section, or just keep around whoever's the most useful?
Also what modules and shit should I install? I have the Diamond edition because fuck giving Beamdog money.
I thought you said 10/10??? No story, sometimes interesting gameplay. Worse than BG in every way except graphics.
easy
It’s totally different than Baldur’s Gate and Planescape if that’s what you’re expecting then you’re gonna have a bad time. Basically no story and the NPC party members are pretty bland and questless. It’s like playing a D and D campaign by yourself (because your party has zero personality).
You can have 2 in the second dlc
you really dont need henchmen tho , i finished the whole game on hard solo
skyrim with mods is easily the best western rpg
>gave money to beamdog
dont pretend to care about rpgs
Why do people praise that crap as the holy grail of NN modules? It's just a porn game with barely any rpg element.
The first NW sucks ass tho only retarded boomers and ironic zoomers trying to earn the formers respect like that shit
NW2 is where it's at
sex sells. or downloads in this case.
>pic not related
I believe that there's some module level variable that controls how many companions you may have, which can be changed using the toolset. I forget what/where exactly it is, though.
Yeah seems pretty barebones but that's fine, I don't know much D&D lore although I played NWN2 a loooong time ago. I haven't played BG or Planescape, too stupid/ADHD, so I'm hoping NWN will be a good introduction into how these games work. I don't usually have the patience for RPGs but I'd like to get into them more.
I barely managed to finish the first floor of the prison. I don't like using potions/items in games, but it looks like I don't have much of a choice here.
did you actually play it
Just a tip: the game doesn't track cross campaign variables so well aside from items in your inventory (kinda like Fallout Tactics), so if you want companions/NPCs to remember what you did for them in the previous chapter, you gotta bring the specific items they give you. Companions have token items, Aribeth has her ring if I remember correctly.
For fucking around with? Sure. Gameplay and the world is hot garbage though.
Ocarina of time
Pokemon yellow
Morrowind is one of the most overrated games in history.
I know you're just shitposting, but you really shouldn't say that. You might trick some hapless newfag into purchasing the abject trashfire that is NWN2.
how did it all go so wrong bros
Pretty fitting that you also post another incredibly overrated game
I said Skyrim with mods. Skyrim with mods has the best gameplay of any Western made rpg, unironically. Plenty of mods that mess around and add to the world space too.
Also, greatest D&D based vidya I've ever played. It had plenty of issues on release, it still does. But it's also the definition of a diamond in the rough. I'm willing to look past the flaws so it's 10/10 for me.
Ah, okay... how long is the game anyways?
Buggy trashfire of a game, about as optimized as Battletech was
faggot
>It had plenty of issues on release, it still does
>I'm willing to look past the flaws
Are you American by any chance? I expect only the US public schools would allow someone to have such shit reading comprehension.
Illiterate cunt.
Pathfinder Kingmaker is still an amazing RPG though.
Your post is extremely ironic.
Morrowind is a way better game then Fallout NV, even if it is overrated.
>Ocarina of time
Why did you feel compelled to post in the RPG recommendation thread when you don't even know what an RPG is?
Beamdog is a guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.
1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).
2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.
3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.
4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.
5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.
It's shit and for gays, it tries to be the "dark souls" of CRPGs but really it's just tedious and buggy
>dark souls comparison
are you a videogame journalist by any chance?
There is literally nothing in morrowind that is better than f nv.
Take off your pink nostalgia glasses boomer
Never stop, you glorious faggot.
You first zoomer.
Oh hey it's this shitty copy pasta.
Morrowind had shit quests and shit writing, especially the dialogue. The setting was cool but it's useless without some quality writing.
I'm not averse to reading a shit ton of text. I love Planescape Torment. It's the encyclopedia like design of Morrowind dialogue that kills the writing. You're literally unable to write something good using that shit.
Absolutely shit combat. First person D&D rolls to determine accuracy. Come on.
All that's left for Morrowind is the magic system and score, which are the only 2 truly great things about the game.
Like I said, it's incredibly overrated.
>enhanced edition
Fuck Beamdog.
Keep the good work, user.
Most bugs are fixed now.
It's difficult, but if you aren't a brainlet and are familiar with D&D rules it's actually quite easy.
Depending on the class especially. Just roll with like idk, 3 Sacred Huntsmaster/1 Vivisectionist/xx Mad Dog and game becomes easy mode.
The campaign took me a little over 20 hours.
Although I'm a lot more forgiving of Bethesda than some, I really don't think any mod can fix that garbage combat.
Making your own OP character build is fun in this game, it's a real shame I played this shit 1 month into release. The bugs are PTSD tier.
>shit writing
more like you having shit taste
The writing in Morrowind is leagues above an other RPG I have played barring Planescape.
>hurr durr if it first person it can't have dice rolls
kys
>pathfinder
You can't fool me. I've seen your general threads over on /tg/. I know exactly what sort of degenerates that game panders to.
>It's just a porn game
Yeah, but it's female written porn game. You know how rare that is?
>I better namedrop Planescape: Torment so that no one calls me a zoomer
>Making your own OP character build is fun in this game
Probably why I like it so much.
>it's a real shame I played this shit 1 month into release. The bugs are PTSD tier
I never play games on release anymore, I let others play test them for me.
Thank you for your service user.
I genuinely think PST is one of the greatest RPGs of the 90s.
What now?
Not me user. Why, what happened?
Explain why Morrowind has good writing.
f1 > f2 though.
is blondie a chick or a dude?
You want it be one way, but it's the other way.

These are a few to use as base. From there, there's an entire world of mods that fundamentally change how you play. You'd be surprised what mods have done. Anything from weapon arts to complete overhauls of specific aspects of gamelay.
youtube.com
a dude.
Wasn't that supposed to get an expansion?
Underrail is truly great.
Is the expansion out yet?
It creates a living, breathing world and populates it with interesting cultures, histories, and characters. Nothing has ever rivaled its worldbuilding and the entire plot of the Tribunal and main quest is amazingly indepth and intriguing.
The fact that you just go
>lol hyperlinks
shows that you are a brainlet
But go ahead and continue saying asinine reasons why it is bad.
neverever
last time i checked dev said towards the end of the year
10/10 mechanics but the campaign is a slog at times
Diablo 2 :D
It's about on par with the worldbuilding of any Bethesda game. Wide as an ocean deep as a puddle.
The NPCs literally constantly repeat the same shit over and over again.
That's the thing that turned me off of Morrowind. What's the point of interacting with the different copy pasted NPCs if they all say mostly the same things?
>ah well bro, just go talk to the quest NPCs.
>living breathing world
It's literally the opposite of that. And having that opinion is truly a brainlet take.
Can New Vegas really be called overrated when it's the best RPG ever made?
>D and D
Please kill yourself.
>rpg has generic townspeople
woah...
>Thinking some fag off the streets can tell you anything you don't already know
The people who whine about that shit are utterly pathetic. You should know the best when Morrowind and Planescape both have very similar design philosophies when it comes to NPCs.
There are still PLENTY of NPCs that have unique, interesting dialogue.
>It's about on par with the worldbuilding of any Bethesda game. Wide as an ocean deep as a puddle.
Laughably wrong. It is the only RPG with actually developed worldbuilding.
Nothing comes even close.
based
>Yea Forums subhuman
Go away and stay go.
>Gothic
>Good
kek
It's the way they're generic though.
If they're generic name them fucking town person so I don't have to waste time with them.
Morrowind's solution to this is to basically sequester the actual NPCs in guild halls and random locations.
>I want to experience the game
>Lets get some quests
>Talk to 10 useless NPCs who say the same thing and offer nothing
This is how Bethesda created the illusion of a "living, breathing" world in Morrowind. And it's fucking horrible.
Just stop replying to the nvfag altogether, it's literally just one delusional faggot spamming the board day or night
Unironically based and patricianpilled.
Gothic 2 is leagues above Morrowind in every single way.
>Gothic is shi-
>It's about on par with the worldbuilding of any Bethesda game. Wide as an ocean deep as a puddle.
I have to give you credit for keeping the ruse up this long.
There is no "illusion" mate.
But continue spouting your drivel. I am sure someone will listen to you.
completely wrong.
Shadow of undrentide was pretty meh tho
Ah yeah, a shitty webm of the last fucking dungeon where you can't see a goddamn thing sure proves something.
Perhaps it's better like that though since you can't fathom just how horrible Gothic's combat is.
Am I the only one who didn't hate the original nwn campaign? It had great moments, the trial was stellar.
HotU is tops though.
Best fun was making an op character with insane items in editor modules and transferring him.
Morrowind is simply not as good as you think it is. I'm sorry. It might be the best Elder Scrolls game, but that's like saying the most solid shit in a sea of diarrhea is somehow a great thing.
Git gud, you shitter.
Wrong, but it isn't that surprising that you have shit taste when you have a less than three digit IQ.
Yeah it's the weakest of the 3
If I remember correctly, every 3 lvls you can ask them more about their story. At the final stage they give you a fetch quest to retrieve a unique item for them. Like a specific brooch for the barbarian, half-orc guy or a medicine for a bard slut.
>Yea Forums hates Morrowind now
What the FUCK went wrong?
zoomers.
Is it worth getting when i already have standard diamond edition on GOG?
Skyrim does everything better (you know I'm right)
Vanilla Skyrim isnt even an RPG, its like comparing apples to oranges
Yea Forums grew up and realized nostalgia isn't the measure of quality.
i just got the pic for the thread
i also have the diamond edition so idk about the difference
I've finished the entire trilogy with all kinds of builds for each game you assblasted gopnik, if you want to pretend your shitty free swing combat is anything but garbage feel free to do so, but don't pretend anyone who actually played the games to take you seriously, let alone the garbage ranged combat with dice rolls for hit checks or the atrocious magic.
You're using the same fucking webms since years, you're literally obsessed.
define RPG?
The only real post.
>it was written by a woman so it must be good
the state of soi cucks
No
Git gud.
damn, i don't remember gothic looking that comfy
Kek. But no, the point is that shit's comedy gold. Only the female mind can write the most depraved shit and perceive it as romantic. It's a rare experience to see it in a game. Normally you'd have to read their pulp schlock, and may god save us from that horror.
>Skyrim
>best gameplay
All the mods in the world wouldn't fix the shitty floaty combat system and horrendously bad animations.
Get the fuck out of here.
Gothic is the comfiest game ever.
Unironically the pinnacle of vidiya roleplay.
>Charlemagne start
no
A game wherein the actions that the player character may perform are mechanically limited to those defined by a set role which is chosen by the player.
Godspeed.
it's literally one guy
Morrowind is a shitty game with a lot of soul (mostly due to art direction) and people were willing to forgive most of its flaws when there was still hope for The Elder Scroll series. But as those flaws became core of Bethesda's "game design" the illusion of Morrowind as diamond in a rough fell apart.

Well played.
Used to love them, but haven't played a CPRG since Neverwinter Nights, which CPRG has the cutest girls? I'm so fucking lonely
Is decent combat too much to ask?
D:OS2
I never played any RPG games starring in the D&D worlds, which one should I play first?
Don't talk about waifus, you'll attract the Valerie retard from the Kingmaker general
The Midnight module for NWN1 has a drow cutie
kek
Pathfinder Kingmaker has all your needs met.
It even has Tristain if you want to have a go at some sweet boipussy.

Baldur's Gate 2
Morrowind

NWN gets disqualified from a 10 right away for not letting you control your party, and fuck Beamdog for not patching that in.
>you can add gorillions of damage to game's only (janky as shit) combat spell for shits and giggles
Very impressive.
How the fuck do you play swordflight and not abuse the shit out of dm_god? Who honestly expects you to be able to fight fucking 6 gargoyles that stealth attack my ass back to the sha- I mean air realm in 5 seconds flat.
>Also what modules and shit should I install?
Tales of Arterra
Aielund Saga
Darkness over Daggerford
Shadowlords/Dreamcatcher/Demon
Bastard of Kosigan if you can get it to work
Oh, and Customize Character Override if you like playing dressup.
use your items
Not as rare as a female-written porn game that *isn't* full of rape.
Baldurs Gate with Imoen Romance mod coming through
>tfw no qt drow gf
Seriously fagets, memes aside, I dunno how long I can drag this existence of mine...
Imoen is so cute.
If I recall that whole mod was an edgy clusterfuck.
Not in Japan, almost all the games with heavy rape and mindbreak are written by mostly female teams since the 90s.
Not him, but my big problem with Skyrim mods is that even if they could give good gameplay, you're still left with the same boring quests. Sure, there are some quest mods, but almost none of them have much of a story.
Never nut in a drow user. It's not worth it.
You know what they say about never sticking dick in the crazy? Imagine if the Crazy has a spider in her vagina.
That's what drow pussy is like.
This, female written romance is so ridiculous.
Only in the mind of a woman being shared by orcs as a breeding sow is perceived as a romantic experience.
No. They have yet to add anything to the EE that would make switching over worth it, and apparently it isn't even fully compatible with all the old modules even though they promised it would be.
based
because I want to be a girl and even if a lot of the sex interactions feel a little forced it does a decent job at weaving it in between average gameplay and writing / worldbuilding. Most of the game is playing an rpg about on par with base NwN, which lets you ground and relate to the porn more.
Can confirm dwarven pussy best pussy.
I just want to love someone, man.
No game with controls that bad could be the comfiest game ever.
Yes
Based Pasta user
NWN1 is the best one. Play that, then play the user-made modules. You don't really need any of the other games. They use older versions of D&D that are pretty bad. NWN2 is the exception, of course, but it's bad for other reasons.
That's true for all bethesda games unfortunately. These are games you need to make your own fun in.
Try out Vigilant, Project AHO, Legacy of the Dragonborn In fact look up up all the quest mods that are compatable with Legacy of the Dragonborn and download those too. There's also a list of quality of life mods that change up npc behaviour
There's also overhauls for most the existing main questlines, like this
youtu.be
controls are fine when you play keyboard only, as it was meant, you fucking pleb
Thanks brehs, thought about buying it on steam since the price is surprisingly low. What about the multiplayer? Do most people switched to the enhanced edition or are staying with the original? Pic unrelated
Its literaly zoomers im not even kidding.
Ive played Morrowind as one of my first RPGs because i didnt used to be into them.
lvoed it back then and for the longest time i thought it was only my nostalgia goggles talking.
So recently i replayed morrowind again (also witht he multiplayer mod and whatnot) and i realiezd , no, no morrowind was actually good.
In fact, i like it better now that im more used to RPGs.
Morrowinds gameplay is a bit slow, but everything is smooth, nothing is slowed down, nothing requires a lot of clicks, everything is extremley simple, it might not have the charme of oer stylized UIs but at least it actually works.
Graphics wise, its ass, but it aged well because of the artstyle, but thats a matter of taste.
but what realy surprised me is the gameplay.
Its inferior to Oblivions combat + magic system i admit as much. But i got zero problems with dice rolling especialy since things like stamina management and raeach management with spears still factors in.
Alchemy is baller, its a lot of fun and beeing able to carry the crafting station around means its something you always do.
Quests are also neat. You gotta ask around whats going on, it might not be super exciting, but it feels apropriate for beeing a literaly who mercenary. Doenst mean that some things arent a drag, but ofthen youre just left with figuring out what to do. Which especialy if you go telvanni ofthen involves finding clever solution to get away with murder.
Also, very few binary choices. If you want to be a moral person and also play the fighters guild, youll just have to skip a few quests. thats just the way of it. The best you can do is NOT be a pawn of the morag tong.
Morrowind is more than just its stellar setting. Its a good RPG, as far as non simulated RPGs go. Zoomers are fucking idiots that havent played Morrowind and thus think parroting the "miss" meme or saying that the quests were badly written will fly under the radar.
RPGs are dead. Pathfinder was the only recent one, but it came out in almost an alpha state, so must of us burned the game playing through endless patches.
The game works fine now, but there are no surprises left so it ended with a sour taste.
This.
Gothic came out in 2001. Keyboard-only was an outdated concept by then.
It highly depends what you want.. The best overall is probably Baldur's Gate 2, which is a party based grand scale isometric adventure thing. It's one of these games that basically everything in a genre tried to copy with varying success after. Must play for the genre. Also of that era of games is Icewind Dale 1 and 2, which are like Baldur's Gate but more focus on combat and a lot less on characters/story, and Planescape Torment, which has more focus on story but less on combat/gameplay.
As another poster suggested, Neverwinter Nights is good. I would say the actual campaign in the game isn't so good. It's fine and I enjoyed it, but it doesn't come near the game I already mentioned. However, NWN is unmatched when it comes to user made content. There are shitloads of very high quality user made campaigns and other things and you will get a LOT of value out of the game if you get into those. Definitely a good choice.
If you are hardcore into the combat side of things there's also Temple of Elemental Evil.
You are all faggots. Best gameplay, community, and devs and you faggots cant remember to post the greatest rpg of all time!?
That is a MMORPG, a completely different beast from regular RPGs.
Best game ever made though, I will give you that.
Fair enough.
The GOAT.
Playing it now; it's good. Stopping to play the Three Kingdoms TW, but I'll get back to it. My complaint is the walking is SO SLOW.
I alt tab while walking across huge zones at snail's pace. Worse if it's raining.
How hard is ToEE to get into? It's the only Troika game I haven't played.
Why does everyone praise druids in this game?
Clerics are much better.
Do I also need to buy Neverwinter Nights DLCs?
