Pretty excited. Replayed the beta demo not too long ago, and the game's fun. A shame that the graphics aren't that good, but I'll take good gameplay with bad graphics over the reverse any day.

Depends on what the progression system is, but let me tell you, I'll be happy to just be playing a non-linear game with RPG mechanics again. Every "Metroidvania" I've ever played that isn't a Castlevania game copies Metroid and gets rid of all the level up systems, the unique equipment, gameplay gimmicks and melee focus that makes Castlevania stand out because it's too much work as compared to Metroid's lazy formula

There is not one nonlinear Castlevania where grinding is necessary, and only one of them even has crafting (and only for weapons, and it was made shit because of it to the point where the next game literally got rid of equippable weapons entirely)

Fully expected the staggered release honestly. With some being "rougelike mode" and online mulitplayer, I didn't expect these on release.
I am disappointed about the lack of characters though, seeing as every other Igavania always had bonus characters out of the gate. I just hope the base game has enough content for the dev time.

i finished it today, the luck fix alone actually makes it so that you get enough souls to upgrade everything while still having some souls left to use, really feels like the way the game was meant to be played

I think it's a good way to enhance the exploration aspect. If you go out of your way to look for something, even if you hit a dead end or find a place where you can't progress and find nothing, you still haven't entirely wasted your time because your character will be a little stronger from all the enemies you killed.

emulator, a DS flashcart to play it on a DS or a 3DS, or if you have CFW on your 3DS you can use something called twilightmenu to play DS games on your 3DS

In a game based around backtracking, it's a fantastic progression metric.

It makes you feel like each area you travel through makes you more powerful, until at the end you finish the final boss and on New Game+ can wreck most of the game with relative ease. That's satisfying as fuck.

1. areas you haven't defeated the boss in yet are calculated to NOT be affected by your level, aka all damage is pre-set in that area, so this benefit only applies to areas you backtrack in.

2. there is always a way to hide the floating damage numbers.

Why apply a handicap on myself? I'm not incapable of using my reflexes alone to defeat well-designed enemies, I don't need higher damage numbers to progress forward. All the good enemy designs in these games came from before there was any level up system too.
