Gen 4's overworld themes are stellar, but many of the battle themes, with some exceptions, are kinda boring and too slow paced for a pokemon battle.

This, Route 216 and 228 are peak Pokemon music.

Literally the only aspect of gen 7 that captured that pokemon magic for me. At that late in the game, it only made me sad for what the series had become. An awesome track.

Gen 3 is worth it for these chads alone.
No idea of the other games. started again with X and the games onward have been pretty meh.

Are low level runs-possible in the games on your first try? Pokemon is fun and all but it is always too easy.

Just play one of the gen i/ii remakes for the nostalgia.

It had great music and character designs, and a handful of decent decisions like removing HMs amidst some awful ones like the linear level layout and heavy dose of cutscenes. Stop just blindly hating everything about the newest thing.

It has some good tracks but it's by no means the best soundtrack in general.

Poni Canyon and Ten Carat Hill were pretty dank, too.

Hell even Gen 6 managed to be better because
1) It's gimmick, megas, were given to pokemon from almost every generation and mostly to pokemon that needed the buff while Alolan forms were only given to gen 1 pokemon
2) The game had much, much more customization options even for male character who had less than the females.
3) XY had more than 50% of current Pokemon while SM had around 40%
4) O Powers were a huge improvement over pass powers from gen 5 yet SM removed them completely
