lmao, why would anybody play this shit when MUA3 also come out soon?
How is that game still not dead?
I was thinking about this game yesterday, then I found out there's a private server for City of heroes that still exists
You would be surprised how dedicated comic book fans are. Like to the point of retardation. Look at the MCU. To be fair it pays off sometimes like endgame.
t. Comic book fan boy (Marvel and DC)
DC fans man.
If it can cross over like PC/PS3/PS4 one did then holy shit
I remember dropping this game back when red lanterns came out. I told my guild that I'd come back the moment they added a Blue Lantern powerset (because if they can make RL unique enough to be its own power, then they can do the same for the others).
Play City of Heroes instead
>PS3
RIP ps3 servers.
comic fans are literal mouth breathers that will cling to shit even if it's dead. Example: actual comic books. Comic books look like shit now, sell like shit, and have shit characters and stories (even for capeshit) yet they still buy the ugly crap, even if they don't even like it sometimes.
This is still alive? I remember playing it on and off for free on my PS3 because I was bored as shit, but I don't actually remember anything about it, or remember feeling like I was playing an MMO.
As someone who played this game for a while and was in one of the top level guilds, the reason DCUO is still chugging along is because of a regular release schedule in their DLC. It might not be the best content, but it serves its purpose, to keep players coming back and to possibly entice new people in. That, combined with voice acting from top talent and relatively well-prices DLC, gets people to stick around.
This isn't the worst game I've ever played but it's close
>Lex Luthor is fucking around
>Take 20 secret serums and bring them to this point
>Bane is walking around with minions
>Kill 100 minions
and that's it, that's the entire game
It’s called brand loyalty and as a fair-weather comic book fan I totally agree. I read a recent run of Spider-Man and it was boring as fuck. It’s soap-drama for man children and women children.
Eh, for better or worse the big two never put their top level talent on the biggest names unless they're trying something big(e.g. Grant Morrison on Superman for its New 52 "reboot"). That's why we've seen Bendis fuck around with Spider-Man, Superman and now he'll be taking over for Batman.
>Want electric powers, the most basic superpower you can ask for?
>FUCK YOU BUY IT
Name one MMO that does that differently.
Classic stockholm syndrome.
If you would've told me that DCUO would still be here nearly ten years later, I'd laughed.
>Sony EO game
>On switch
Wtf? I remember regretting not buying the premium lifetime subscription for this game for only $100 back at launch.
S4 League
Freejack
Minecraft
TF2
>hurr not MMOs
lol
I haven't played since like DLC 12 or some shit lol back when introduced bases. Has there been any significant gameplay overhauls since then?
I really like angry Superman
youtu.be
10 years later and its still so high quality goddamn.
Man so much memories when this game originally launched on PS3
>On PvP server
>"Fight Club" esque part of Metro
>Heroes and Villains had a mutual truce to challenge 1v1's
>Frequent there
>Decide to just randomly attack the villains (am hero)
>Everyone gets pissed
>Other Villains and Heroes hear about this place
>More Heroes and Villains flock there
>Massive PvP battle there daily
>All the Heroes and Villains hated me because I broke up their little Fight Club by randomly attacking Villains
>Never forget a deaf player named Spaderman
Fuck bros I miss this game.
I absolutely used to love this game as its a snapshot of DC before Nu52 fucked everything uo. You are dropped into the best version of the DCU and made to feel like a legitimate part of it. Then you reach the end game and it turns from a Superhero game into WOW with forced DPS/Controller/Tank/Healer roles that you never had to use the first 30 levels
I might actually subscribe for just 1 month at launch to fuck around and see what's happened in the 8 years (wow) since I last played.
I used to wander around lonely as fuck cus I had no friends and my PS3 had no mic.
Also I have like 100+ images where I would find every female superhero in the game and position the camera in such a way to take screenshots of their ass
I understand that.I was so pissed at the Supergirl being invincible in the low level supervillian mission against her that after she was disabled by Kryptonite I turned on the toyman form gadget for proper height got behind her turned on the dance emote and positioned the camera carefully
>City of Heroes/Villains gets murdered
>Champion's Online and DCUO come up to take it's place
>Both are absolutely terrible
I'm shocked there hasn't been another actual attempt at a Superhero MMO in this current trend of capeshit doing exceptionally well in theatres.
City of Heroes is back now. No need to play any of the shitty ones any more.
Intuitive perverts amazing. Go be an engineer dude.
There was a neat Marvel based on from some of the fellers that worked on Diablo. It was alright but the company ran into management problems and Disney decided to kill it and replace it with absolutely nothing
>Private Servers
>For a game that was killed mid-update by it's developers
While I'm happy people were able to squeeze the code out of that guy I don't really like private servers for the very reason that they are subject to take down at any time and that they don't have a full on team developing new content for them.
I remember playing the beta and not caring that much about it. A few weeks back I watched some videos of the game a month or so before it shut down. I really regret not playing it.
Great, more ports of 5+ year old games.
>The Virgin zombie DCUO
>THE CHAD RESURRECTED COH
It changed wildly during its time with constant massive overhauls the first year. It was generally good but sometimes the tweaks could overly nerf things like survivability and you would die far too often especially on the big raid battles About 4-6 months after it started was when it reach my favorite point before overly tweaking survivability again next year.
Are you going to complain the game is ok ps4 and Xbox one? Oh... No you're not.
Holy shit, this thing still exists? Why?
>One gets updated with new content literally every month for 9 years and is still getting supported and even brought to hot new systems
>One was kept in a dusty time capsule echo chamber by neckbeard virgin autistic foreigners
Sad.
based
That’s pretty cool.
I quite enjoy playing the game.
It gets supported really well
>Want electric powers, the most basic superpower you can ask for?
>FUCK YOU BUY IT
Just use a black character, dude
>TF2
>MMO
What?
Oh fuck lads I'm having a nostalgia overload for FUCKING DCUO of all things fuck!!!
Name one MMORPG that does that differently.
>I'm going to pay for a monthly subscription to DCUO in 2019
What even is this timeline? Is Lex Luthor involved?
I remember waiting 3 days for it to download on our shitty wifi back in 2011. Don't play the game religiously, but I'll hop on every time a new power is out. Character creation is fun. My sister and I would create hero pairs and stomp on all the missions together. We played like two months ago and made creepy human versions of crash and spyro. Good times, can't wait to waste more on the switch.
I always loved the freedom it gives you with the cosmetics
this game was my jam back in the day. it had god tier character customization.
I remember playing this game with Yea Forums when it went F2P.
I went through 3 mice during the 6 months I played.
Fun times.
Fucking seriously. Every game should let you keep appearances customizable so you arent running around in a roman helmet with a stop sign shield and Ballerina tutu clipping into your WWII bomber jacket
And multiple dye areas in all equipment.
