How has the board responded to the increasing likelihood that George may in fact be serving in some capacity on the next Fromsoftware game? Pretty rad sounding if you ask me.
Fears? Hopes? Expectations?

I love fs but i hate this fucker
Is there a reason? What are your greatest concerns if he is indeed involved on a project with them?
I dislike open world games, I don't care about Game of Thrones and hate "realistic fantasy" shit like The Witcher so I'm avoiding From's new project.
Norse mythology is hype killer for me , when found about the leak and Martin involvement i thought a game based on asoiaf on Sotohoryos or any of the land shrouded in mystery of asoiaf not another Norse mythology shit but unless this is another case like sekiro single player will be day 1
Only if I can sit in the grass and shit brown fluids.
I'm indifferent on Popeye here but fucking hate fromsoft, what now cunt?
FromSoft should stick to the DS gameplay and just explore other cultures and ages.
>CrossCode fag hates good developers
As expected. I will never touch that shit game.
>Developer has rereleased the same game with adjustments five times in a row
>Good developer
I want Soulsfags to stop breathing my air
We're not breathing your fetid mongoloid air.
>I actually now nothing about videogames
You're on an assisted breathing machine? It'd explain your lackluster thought processes and how you're able to eat up actual rehashes on the constant.
Mite b cool
>Says the one shilling a Terranigma ripoff
Who's shilling? Do you think at all before you start slapping keys, or do you just let it come naturally? If the latter, you may be clinically retarded.
I definitely share in your feelings towards open world games in general. I love them in theory but there has yet to be one (outside of perhaps Breath of the Wild and even then I have some problems with it) that really engrossed me in the process of exploring a world. I've always felt that the preoccupation with size distracts from the focus of meaningful gameplay and level design. Look no further than No Man's Sky for a crystallization of these grievances. If it weren't made clear what their ambition was on that game it could have easily been taken as a satire of the entire philosophy that governs most open world games.
As for George's role I think him being on board could actually benefit From if they are striving towards something more character based. He may be best known for Game of Thrones but he has written other material that doesn't strictly fall under the boilerplate assessment of "realistic fantasy" or "gritty" that many will be quick to dish out.
I don't care about Martin one way or another really. I just want the game play to be good and varied. I'll feel better about it once they give us some gameplay details.
No squatting in the grass no buy
This. Although I will also add that I'm not going to let myself get hyped until I see some gameplay videos of the game in question.
He can barely finish his books, this is just marketing. He won't be able to come up with something mind blowing with such small dev time
Reminder that when linear games were popular we heard the same bullshit about them too.
Reminder that a majority of games are shit and that it shouldn't speak for every open world game
Stop being a retarded sheep and appreciate all vidya fellow hardcore gamers
Two hacks collaborating? Wew
If he's only serving as a creative consultant as alluded to in his blog then I don't think that requires a massive time sink. They likely just bounced some ideas off one another and asked for a few pointers.
I hope it's a lie because this fat fuck needs to finish his fucking books
I've been waiting like 7 years now
I wouldn't go so far as to say most games are shit as much as most are unmemorable. Especially the subject of Open world which is predominantly headed by the AAA companies who sink economy altering amounts of money into games and feel compelled to resort to tropes in it's execution for fear of not making a return on such a gargantuan investment. I know open world games have the potential to be great. Some are even. We just have more developers than ever focusing on this one thing and with littler to distinguish them from one another it becomes tiresome.
*little (ew)
Not him but his tendencies I hate are
>bullshit, cheap deus ex machina
>way too much reliance on trope subversion
>in a story about a power struggle between kingdoms, food and shitting are almost always described in great detail but more important aspects like warfare and state affairs are largely neglected
>simplistic, childish prose
>half-assed worldbuilding
That said, if his counsel was more than a few tips and guidelines, then the game's narrative will still probably be top tier by video game standards.
Maybe he should write a book sometime.
no hollywood shit is always trash
the Norse stuff is a Yea Forums rumor, GRRM involvement is confirmed
t. has never played a video game
you have brain damage, you don't have to keep reminding us
I would disagree with most everything in this post save for the banality of the man's prose which I can look past when faced with an otherwise lavish realization of the world and it's inhabitants. I would almost agree with the absence of more procedural detailings concerning the military and state but I would attribute that to being a result of what he is prioritizing in the story than it is an innate fault. He is clearly less concerned with the intricate logistics of governance during wartime than he is the human tales embroiled in these affairs and their affects on them. The whole tax-policy meme is overstated because the series never vitalized those aspects of politics and as such I feel it is a moot point. Unless you just really want a story about those things in which case I can't fault you for being disappointed. Similarly I've always found the subversion complaint overplayed because when unexpected things happen it always makes sense following the causality of the narrative.
Anyways I'm sorry to ramble. To end on a positive I am in agreement with you that if his counsel is bigger than just throwing suggestions that it could be quite great : )
I hate that meme but I agree with this post
This, I love the open world style of game but it seems like every game in the gerne is mediocre to bad, BOTW and skyrim are two I've enjoyed most but BOTW has some big issues and skyrim is only decent cause of mods.
Want me to dump the concept art?
>>Developer has rereleased the same game with adjustments five times in a row
that's the entire game industry
>her cunt became the world
>bullshit, cheap deus ex machina
You could've just said that you never read even one chapter of his books.
Fpbp
one of the leading rumors is that it has horse riding/combat which is great, really want to see how that ties into the Souls style combat since this is likely the dark fantasy ARPG Miyazaki talked about when he said the three games From was working on
I JUST WANT ARMORED CORE 6 FROM FUCKS
>Hype?
more like Cringe
Stay away from my japanese games you fat piece of shit hack of a "modern" ""fantasy"" """author""".
FROM will now do movie games.
Sekiro was the first step into casualization and bamham stealth.
Next they will will do cinematic combat
Witcher at least doesn't act pretend its realistic. Its just gritty.
This piece of shit has tricked the entire world that his garbage world is totally realistic to medieval life.
You have no clue what you're talking about.
I never watched GoT nor do I intend to. Just let From do their own thing, this worries me a lot.
This concept art was presented by a From artist at an art event and he said it was just stuff they prepared for that event and not something from a game project.
Love this design. The dew tipped floral tentacles are an amazing touch. Almost give the thing a molecular quality.
iirc it was inspired from a bacteria or microscope pic of a plant.
I really dislike GRRM, his shallow mentality and all of his disgusting novels. He's not fit for the Soulslike fantasy setting in any way. I'd rather they got Miyazaki instead of this obese mutt and his trashy westacuck writing.
With that said however the rest of the leak sounds pretty interesting and ambitious so I retain faith in FROM. Hopefully GRRM's involvement is minimal.
I would love to see FROM take on Conan or Fire and Ice world.

Norse mythology would be great if they kept that fat sack of shit out of it.
FromSoft could easily do an accurate, interesting take on the myths based on source materials and nip aesthetics.
Instead we get an elderly hack who could only ever enjoy norse myth through deconstruction AKA destruction of what makes them great.
They don't need a hack to make their games. The only thing that will change is more rape. You already had plenty of lewd innuendoes before
I know. BOTW stunned me for the first several hours I played it. I felt I finally got that experience so many talk about when discussing open world games but by it's end there were blemishes that kept me from truly loving it despite thinking it is a fantastic game in the overall. I respect it immensely and see it as the closest a developer has come clear out of the gate to crafting the ideal open world experience. If Nintendo are able to iron out the combat issues, mold environment specific dungeons and include more meaningful side quests that better illustrate the world and its inhabitants in the next installment I will officially have found my first love for the open world.
>modern times
How about no
GRRM's wheelhouse is Lovecraftian horror. You contrarian shits will eat up his lore and beg forgiveness.
The whooooooooooore is dead.
holy shit is that the 'mods ruin games' guy
weeaboos are mentally ill
>lovecraftian horror
AKA writing about loose stools and not-Arab "mongol" invasions of wh*te lands inbetween whining about TRUFAN Convention politics and Sports.
Eat shit.

The World: OMG HE'S SUCH AN AMAZING WRITER
Kill yourselves, but unironically.
Yeahhh... Always saddens me to see so many people angry and spouting drivel at their IDEA of what George and ASOIAF is about than what it actually is. Most will latch on to talking points and memes before actually engaging with the material on an individual basis.
>I think GRRM's work has merit and depth
>I'm a brainlet
Thanks for sharing.
One of the most common compliments I hear about it is it being realistic and le epic dead character reactions.
No. Give me knights or fuck right off.
And all of it, I could maybe look past, if he wasn't such a fat tubby whore.
No, no, worse than a fucking whore. A whore sells her body, not her soul.
He sold his soul when he gave his artistic vision over to Dumb & Dumber.
It's akin to giving your only child to a violent, drunk, pedophile. For fucking money.
What an absolutely disgusting kike hobgoblin that fat fucker is.
>red wedding and early backstabbing
Alexander Dumas's "The Last Valois" series.
absolutely based an rp
I think people conflate From's world and lore construction with "good writing". Make no mistake that the realms they serve as author to are among the most evocative and inspired in the entire medium today, but that does not equate to good writing or storytelling. Necessitating the chronic opening and closing of the menu to read copious item descriptions for the faintest modicum of context is a farcry from the masterful weaving of narrative and gameplay. The absentee approach can be utilized to great effect when seeking to enhance the mystery of certain elements of something but when it enswathes everything it blunts the response many will have to a scenario that isn't directly linked to gameplay. Moments can pack emotional weight, but seldom as they are occurring and even then it's typically experienced mostly in the abstract. George could prove quite useful in honing their focus if they are aiming to suffuse the broader mystique of their worlds with more immediately resonant narrative qualities stemming from character. Say what you will about the barren nature of George's prose, but he excels at crafting engrossing character struggles within the maximalist edifice of a fantasy world. I love From's games and George's books and I think the innate qualities of both should compliment one another quite excellently on this project. Can't wait to see more.
George wouldn't know good writing if he had his head caved in with a copy of the collected Lyonesse works.
Fuck that hack and fuck you for championing him.
He's unable to grasp the basics of Tolkien's fantasy, he's an utter moron. He's also lazy as shit.
What is Gwyn's tax policy?
Great, more things that aren't your books to work on you fat piece of SHIT
FINISH THE BOOKS
FINISH THE FUCKING BOOKS AND DIE YOU FAT HACK

nope, that one is history too. GRRM just slapped a bunch of spicy history things that the average guy/gal doesn't know about together, threw in some tiddies and bam, hit series.
what's up with his hands?
I don't read books, what makes his books so good?
I have zero experience with GoT, but if this fat fuck can't even finish his own book series what makes anyone think he'd be a good consultant on a video game
game of thrones is shit and if i was in charge this guy would be arrested for life along with all his retarded faggot nigger fans
kill yourself
in addition to just being a good narrative the multiple povs makes reading them interesting.
They're not.
They got popular because there was fuckall fantasy "epics" being published at the time despite it being at the height of their popularity so people latched onto it.
Helped that it obscured all the fantasy behind obscurantism so blowhard /li/faggots could pretend they weren't reading a fantasy novel.
keep sucking that dick no matter how much your jaw hurts
Finish WoW(not the MMO) you fat fuck. I wanna see how my boi Stannis meets his end.
They got popular cause normies hate history. But disguise history as fiction and fucking BAM.
Normies eat that shit right up and ask for seconds.
He burns his daughter and gets killed. And Danny goes mind and burns KL in the end. Both of these things that occurred in the show were his ideas and are foreshadowed in the books.
It's responded by making threads like yours about it ever five fucking seconds.
I just want to see them make a game set during the Long Night. It wouldn't be hard to just reskin Dark Souls to make that happen.
>wight enemies
>snow covered forests
>wight giant boss
>other on a spider boss
>COTF firekeeper
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually got started on it when they were making Ashes of Ariandel. They had Sekiro animations unused in Dark Souls 3, and they were designing Bloodborne levels while making the DS1 DLC. So why not?
S-Stannis bros...
>great collaboration
>turns out some of the writerts asked him online in chat something
>"he just replied ye this gud ok"
>consultation
>He burns his daughter
Impossible in the books, considering he's stuck in snow and his daughter is a couple thousand kilometers away. More than likely Melisandre burns her of her own accord.
I'm sure it will be good as From is pretty consistent but a norse setting doesn't interest me at all
he confirmed it himself that he was consultant on a "videogame out of japan" on his blog
Stannis can't burn Shireen because Shireen is at the wall and Stannis is down at Winterfell. So if he burns Shireen, he has to survive the battle of ice. If he doesn't she gets burned some other way
>oh yeah? w-
*kick* *stomp you*
dirty weeb
Dark Souls was medieval european fantasy and I enjoyed it.
because you are a dirty weeb who only likes safe western historical fantasy like that in medieval times.
Same. What a disappointment. Give me knights or at least samurai but literally fuck off with the snowniggers. There's little to no variety there.
No he won't because his daughter is at the wall, with the witch and her zealot mom. Also he is uniting the North and wildings under one banner as opposed to Jon in the Show. Last thing we know he divised careful plan how to face the numerically superior Boltons and the epic clash is between Stann and Roose not the bastards.
i'm really hoping not to be a Souls Clone.
Name one Deus Ex machina he used.
