Will this be good? Based on what we've seen so far, it's set in a single village making it seem quite limited. What could they possibly have in store that would make it worth playing?

I'm looking forward to it. It being limited to one town makes me think the gameplay is going to be much more focused instead of spread thin. Not every game needs to be about traveling the world.
Game Freak's non-Pokemon games in recent years have been pretty good so I'm basing these assumptions on those games (Tembo, Pocket Card Jockey)

I have more faith in it than Pokemon SnS desu. Best scenario is that it actually turns out to be pretty great and is well-received in turn. It'll be interesting to see what modern GF can do when it's not focusing on the almighty cash cow god that is Pokemon. Hopefully we'll get more information soon. Nintendo's E3 Direct/Treehouse, probably.

Mother 3 was supposed to take place in a single town that changed over time. Perhaps they took inspiration from that. I don't see how this can be a bad thing if executed properly. Althought that fan box art makes me lol because unless they state otherwise this is going to be another small eShop digital exclusive like their last few non Pokemon games.
