ok please start OP
I finished it at least 50 times. AMA
that's not Baldur's Gate 2
It ok
Game crashes when i change the resolution. What do?
>not finishing the (superior) first one 50 times
cmon kid
>t. played through g2 notr at least 25 times
How can I make the gold Edition more forgiving? I heard that the original isn't nowhere as difficult.
how do you make yourself play 50 times through the shitfest of chapter 4 to end?
Morrowind is better
change my mind
Oh boy it could be time for yet another Gothic 1 and 2 playthrough.
Gothic 2 has the best open world of any RPG ever made, and if you played it you would blow it already.
*know
Fuck I'm asleep
1st one doesn't have nearly as much replayability as 2nd one. And i only got my hands on the 1st one much later after i got the 2nd one. (yuropoor, no internet, 13+ years ago)
because chapter 1 is easily the best part of the game, and the part i spent most of my time in. Every time i played i kept trying new stuff, weapon combos, spells etc. And every single time i played i discovered something new in the game (see above - i didn't have internet, all i had was Gothic 2 and a bunch of other shitty games). Even after i purchased a physical copy of NOTR i still didn't have internet, so i discovered this game from 0 all by myself with no help. God it was amazing...
Oh and everytime, my purpose was to get as much XP as possible with each playthrough so i had each save and kept comparing my "score". That is, without abusing anything in the game, like beating Khorinis NPCs or stuff like that. The only thing i abused was the blacksmith apprentice thing, i kept buying steel and sold a lot of swords for gold. And in gothic 1 the jumping bug where u don't take damage, mainly to make certain things go faster.
fuck gothic 2 was the best.
i heard there are some great mods for it, that expand the gameplay even more
Gothic 2 Steam/GoG patching guide with graphics mods
Download this and install in the correct order (readme). Game won't work properly without these.
mediafire.com
Then download this and extract to the "system" folder in your Gothic 2 folder
gothic-dx11.de
This makes the graphics a lot better and fixes performance
then if you want to make the graphics even better also download and install this by extracting to your Gothic 2 folder
moddb.com
this is based though
Morrowind has better lore but Gothic 2 is far more enjoyable to play and has more soul
Holy shit we didn't have one of these since december?
Reminder that THQ Nordic bought Piranha Bytes and all rights to Gothic / Risen / ELEX
Holy shit I thought you were just shitposting.
that's not Zelda botw
>Zelda
>RPG
Retard.
What mods? This looks beautiful

Innos monastery when it rains = pinnacle comfy, prove me wrong
powiedz no, czy to cos z przodu twojej glowy to twarz, czy dupa?
is he going to Sen's Fortress?
Is this game really better than Morrowind?
They are not as similar as some anons make it to be, so it'll largely come down to what you want from a game. But for me, yes. Gothic is better.
it's better but harder to learn imo. But worth it
It's better in everything except the story and lore
>Look at thread
>Gothic
>Bet my ass thread is full of incognito Romanians
>I was right
This game really did a number on Romania, kinda like Mature/Milf porn
Arguably locations too. Morrowind's a lot more fantastic and interesting to look at. Jharkendar helps Gothic's case a lot, but still nowhere near as cool as flying meteorite prisons and sprawling mushroom towers you have to levitate up to.
it may not have an amazing and intricate story, but the world building and atmosphere are amazing to me
Has anyone tried the Returning mod for 2?
It's apparently pretty good and 250 hours worth of content
I might give it a try later this week
>tfw Kai Rosenkranz is never returning to PB for Gothic 4 because he now does his own stuff
I have a feeling he'd return for a Gothic 4, but not for anything else.
But I don't want PB to make one.
what does that mod do ?
iirc it's supposed to be a sequel to 2, so basically it takes place after Irdorath and you return to Khorinis instead of going to Myrtana
sounds soulless desu, there'd be nothing to do back there, and you are strong as shit
>fanfiction mods
ew
Didnt know its popular in Romania.
Its was very popular in Poland, i had no idea germans could make a game with this much soul.
Offtopic question since i dont want to create a new thread. What build makes gothic 3 playable? Is mage/archer good? I cant stand this dogshit melee combat and getting stunlocked.
Yea play archer and spec into magic later on, with mods there's plenty of summons that are strong enough to carry you, or just cast stuff like fire rain and kill literally everything in a giant radius
don't know about archer, but mage is OP. The summoned demon is strong as fuck and fireball can track enemies and can deal a lot of dmg. I remember the ice explosion or whatever its name was is strong too.
redpill me on G2, I never played it but heard good shit. I played a little bit of Morrowind and some more modern nu-RPGs. Will I like this or is it too much to ask from a brainlet like me?
Thanks
>polish youtuber starts a playthrough of G2 in 2009
>loses save file after episode 100something
>goes back to finish it in 2018
lol
Celeb 55
good times
Offensive magic is shit because of the damage formula, but once you have mana regen it's not a big deal, just boring. Fire Rain and the Water Mage storm spell kill everything. Summons are shit, transformation is good, charm is good, other utility spells are kinda pointless.
Nah. Lotsa skeletons spell is good, so is demon summon. Transformation is just a waste. Fear and enrage is good one too.
Why don't you just try it? Going into a game with expectations will inevitably lead to dissapointment
So just play the game dude, and if you like it come back to discuss why
well I ask only cos I am super busy at the moment and when I start a new game, I like to really get into it. If it is really long or complex I can often lose the story over time as I don't get to play it. But yeah, maybe overthinking it is silly. Cheers mate.
The summoned demon never managed to kill anything for me. Not a single thing. I sic'd it on peasants, and they just flailed at each other until the demon's time ran out. It was only good for gathering every enemy in one place.
Transformation is great if you don't want to fight every critter, or just want to move fast. Jackals run faster than the PC, and Bloodflies are even better.
If you're going to play it try to get the version without the Night of the Raven addon.
Also play G1 first if you haven't already.
I got to the part where you have to talk to all the tribes as part of the main quest and the leader guy gives you all these books to read
left it for months and came back a week ago when I had a minute, it's much more fun to play from the start if you have a basic understanding of the world, blew through the early mages guild quest in no time
I will get it on steam, is that the right version? why the first one, is it very story heavy?
Well if you're planning on playing 2 then go for 1 first, it's the same game just in a different location so if you don't enjoy that i don't see why you would waste your time trying 2
Though I am of the honest opinion that 1 is the far superior game
>without dndr
Why?
NotR absolutely destroys immersion by changing the voice actors (but only for the newly added lines of course...).
It also makes the game more difficult which is unnecessary and may make minmaxing a necessity (I haven't played it in a long time so I don't remember exactly how difficult it is).
Other than that it just adds some shit no-one wanted and no-one cares about like some sandnigger island.
It's one of the best expansions to ever hit the video game market, what are you on about? It's a straight up love letter to people who liked the first game, what with Thorus coming back and you getting to kill those fucking rats from the old and new camps who are now bandits
>changes voice actors
I don't think the german voice actors changed in any way but correct me if I'm wrong
And playing in any other language is retarded anyway so it's an invalid argument
Is it the xpac though that causes dragons to regen health? If so that's definitely something I can't stand behind because it makes the fights near impossible with melee and you have to cheese it with scrolls and black ore
Vanilla Gothic 2 already changed Diego's voice, it doesn't get more immersion breaking than that. What should have been a cool reunion gets immediately ruined as soon as he opens his mouth.
not in polish
>any other language is retarded anyway
People outside Germany played this game too, you know?
>People outside Germany played this game too, you know?
Well the people who didn't play it with german voiceovers played it WRONG
HE DU!
Feel my pain.
