Enemy attack permanently lowers max hp by 1

>enemy attack permanently lowers max hp by 1
>only instance of this happening in the entire game
>previous variations of zombie don't do this or anything else but standard melee attacks; no way to know this particular flavor is dangerous
why was this allowed?

Try playing the old rpgs where they permanently reduce your levels on hit

HP is for non-magical brainlets. Based sorcerer with mana shield wins again.

you can regain your levels. you cant regain your max hp however

>enemy attack permanently lowers max hp by 1
I never knew that. I guess it'd be a big deal if you were playing online and doing a character build I guess, but it doesn't matter much in single player because you shouldn't get hit by them more than a few times and they're only on a few levels. Still seems weird to do though.

Bard is peak kino. Rape melee with triple hitting dual swords and fireball cowardly succubi and wizards up the ass

>Sorceror with mana shield
>current HP is clearly more than 10
You're doing this wrong.

>Come across a Shrine
>Gotta open up the FAQ to make sure it's not one of those annoying ones that doesn't reduce something to boost another thing.
I can't remember which shrine it was but the one that reduced the durability of one item and boosted another was really good for boosting the durability on Thinking Cap.

>why was this allowed?
Fuck you, pay me

is hellfire even worth playing?

It adds more stuff to the already good base game, why not play it

i like it, the extra classes are interesting and it has some cool new modifiers and spells, not to mention you can run in town
hive and crypt are kinda shitty but luckily there's no real reason to do them

It's definitely worth playing since it adds more stuff to the base game. In essence it basically turns it into Diablo 1.5 as it's like this prototype version of Diablo 2 features in the Diablo 1 engine like running and so forth.

ok im convinced... where can i get these games though?

On the INTERNET of course.

Piratebay

gog

I already play Grim Dawn, why should i play this game? The graphics are just so old i wish it were a full 2d game but i never liked the 2.5d generation.

It's a part of VIDEO GAME history user.

Kinda interesting how many features ended up being in D2
>running
>dual wielding
>barbarian class with little magic and passive resistance bonus
>search is basically item highlighting as a spell
>runes are much like assassin traps: magical items mimicking spells
>berserk is essentially attract
>cornerstone is a very poor man's stash
>unique bow with multishot
bummed that the AOE attack didn't make it, it's a very fun and viable way to make 2h weapons competitive with shields

I don't think it's too out of place with the original content as long as you don't activate the extremely goofy side quests with the cowsuit guy and the little girl. The main boss also has special dialog that can be activated where he talks like a radio show host about Aerosmith tickets. That's the only stuff in Hellfire that I would say is just straight terrible.

Yeah it's basically the prototype testing game for features into Diablo 2. Mind you, Hellfire got a large amount of drama at Blizzard since it was an outside studio making an expansion on the game.
