Third Strike at this point is the Tetris of fighting games. It's not that it doesn't deserve it, but it shows a willful ignorance of problems it has, such as how the first 2 iterations were garbage, balance issues, and arguably how it's not a traditional SF game, all in the name of making the safest choice possible. I'd trust someone who picked CVS2 or VSav more, they probably have better and more in-depth reasons for picking those games.

Balance is overrated, in most cases. It is okay for a large disparity in tiers to exist if it at least feels like most characters can compete. Most of the games people hold up are the best ever are pretty poorly balanced, it is likely cause these game favour a certain style so much with a lot of depth to it that the demographic can't get enough of it. But they wouldn't be worse games if more of the cast was able to compete to some degree.

What is most important is that characters feel like they have a complete kit for their gameplay. A bad character who has nothing going on is the worst thing ever, but a low tier character with a functional gameplan can make it work and even win. This is why Tekken 7 is so popular right now, sure Jin has a leg up on everyone else but a Panda can still take it all.

Presentation, fakes hype well enough, work ethic (say what you want about him but Max is always working) and generated a friendly atmosphere which makes him seem more approachable than some FGC people. He also generally has his finger on the pulse of what to cover and for how long.

Who else are new people going to listen to? Aris is the next most popular streamer and he is a lazy bum, Mike filled that role but he has gone crazy, Justin is trying but he needs to work on his shit. After that it is less frequent uploaders who for the most part lack charisma. There are so many FGC podcasts and shit when the only one worth watching is Yipes. Most people lack anything interesting to say and unlike Max aren't good at presenting it in a way where it seems like they know something.

As a long term fighting games fan, I have to agree with that. 3d strike is pretty easy to learn for a fighting game, the combos are small and do fair damage, and the amazing parry system doesnt allow passive play but allows unexpected comebacks making the whole game an interesting watching experience from start to finish. Also visually speaking it has great and well animated pixelart

The tournaments lately have certainly been good enough to produce such a thing, but I'm not sure what would do it. Tekken 7 has done a lot to make it more visually exciting and while it constantly produces great clips there hasn't been one that really blew up. I think it would have to be a story line outside the game for that to really work, something like Majin winning EVO. Even then he doesn't really have a cult around him. That isn't a slight against the game, more the community. It lacks that level of investment that SF has. I know a lot of people who hate SFV but will watch when Daigo is on cause they are fanboys. If you get that going then any number of the clips T7 produces could blow up.

But it could also be everything around the gameplay. The content is meh and the presentation is just more Tekken. T4 is a bad game but still gets jerked off for having style. There isn't really a thing to latch onto outside of this game is really fun to play and watch. Dickriders need the extra, which in part has been they don't like SFV so need something else.

Third strike is pretty fun but the balance is a mess and it has no decent port. Ps2 version has delay, ps3 version has unnecessary changes to menu, music and the online is ass, the, 30 year anniversary version is dogshit in general and on fight cade is a coin toss for connection quality.

We could have had a new version of the game when they are making the ps3 version but for what I heard purists would rather have the exactly same version instead of a revamped one. It could have been the best game ever.

This. Tekken 7 cannot be the best game in the franchise, it has good gameplay and online but utterly fails in all other regards if compared to 5 and 6. The games lacks something that all other Tekken's since 1 had, proper characters endings.

Play him like Balrog. Space with dash punch to make people block, then command throw pressure. If you land a hit, do a big combo because Q needs damage to stay competitive. If you opponent can parry or just plays offensively you are in trouble though.

That isn't true. In Tekken 7 there is a large disparity from D.Jin to the low tiers, the high tiers are significantly better characters who have a better chance at winning in tournament. Which is reflected in results. But those low tier characters can do well enough and even win big things on occasion.

That is not true in the slightest, low tier doesn't just meant this character is barely functional. Especially cause their are shades of that, sometimes characters have one thing that makes the viable while some top tiers have every tool in the book. If your character's match up are all 7-3, while most of the cast is better off you are very much low tier. But your character can still win enough times to progress through a bracket, it is simply harder for you.

The issue is complex when you break it down. Take Master Raven. She generally ends up mid tiers, but a lot of Maven players complain she is more work than many characters for a mediocre set of tools. Which is partly why she isn't particularly common, especially in tournament. She has gameplans but it is questionable how much some are worth.

I can't go back to it. I recently reinstalled it and I couldn't play more than 3 matches before putting it down and not playing anymore. 3 months later I just uninstalled it again. I had fun but it reminds me of how good Juri used to be compared to how they fucked her in V.

also how can you say the play style of super turbo and sf4 is the intended developer vision. there are games in the series which are in your face(3rd strike sfa3 like) compared to games where zoning is super strong.
games like alpha 3, 3rd strike, ex2+, sfv. they have very low emphasis on zoning and almost makes you feel like being in your face is encouraged.
super turbo is the only game where fireballs are way too powerful and sf4 was just made to capitalize on that. but it turns out they made a very good balanced game in which all play styles are viable.
3s is my most played fg but I unironicallu believe usf4 is best street fighter.

Third Strike is nowadays liked by hipsters but everyone at the time hated it. The game is terribly balanced and no one likes it because everyone had to stomach 8 years of chun/chun/ken/chun/ken/chun/yun/ken top 8s. Not to mention parries while good in theory in practice ruin many core aspects of SF to the point 3S is the least SF-like game (it kills multiple character archetypes, fucks up with the risk/reward of tools, with antiairing, positioning, etc).

The only reason people like 3S is the Daigo parry, Daigo single handely saved the reputation of the game with that stunt so now everyone who is new or had a casual understanding think the game is "hype" and parries are "hype".

Tekken Tag 1 was great for content and visuals at the time, but it was busted competitively. Characters like Devil and True Ogre shit all over the rest of the cast. The ending movies weren’t great either. They were all 10 seconds long with the same music track.

I used Geese in Tekken and got rocked by my friend who did local/played all the times King and got kinda salty but took some games i was just playing too stiffly and god frustrated.
