At least option 1 has the benefit of keeping things fresh (assuming the new weapons are a new type of retarded)
The inherent problem is that option 2 (more realistic if bland weapons) could be interesting IF developers spent more time giving you complete freedom with the weapon--problem is the whole "realism" meme has been more and more co-opted by the "mass appeal" market and the masses wouldn't be interested in something that required actual work

Bandits were incredibly easy to kill. Enemies would let themself get kited around the map if you sat on your horse. High level combat was a parry fest. Non sword weapons had dull movesets. Once you had plate armor you were a walking tank.
I played on release, so I don't know if they fixed any of these issues.

It expands on chivalry with morphing attacks(swapping from stab to swipe) and chambering(beginning an attack in the same direction an attack is coming from when its about to hit). You also have the ability to apply skillpoints into a character to customize them.

For instance, you could have two pieces of heavy armor, a longsword, and the ability to dodge(like in Chiv) This adds another option to your toolset for avoiding damage.
You can also chamber into a morph to further confuse your opponent.

There is also dragging, but not to the extent that Chivalry has it. It's a lot less ballerina dancing and you can't hit enemies behind you but dragging is still very important.

There's a retarded meta of weapons that nonsensically do absurd damage to plate armor, and dragging and turning is around and as relevant as ever. A butchers knife also has as much recovery time as a full length spear because drunken balance efforts

Webm creator here. This happened when Skyrim Enhanced Edition released, so I thought I'd play for a bit to see what's changed. I never liked Skyrim's combat, and that moment was the perfect opportunity to show why, because you can just mash attack and win; the AI having a stroke was a bonus.

It's true you won't get as many moves during your first play but it doesn't mean the game's not fun on the first playthrough either. Part of the fun of the DMC franchise is the sense of progression and working with what you got to achieve the highest possibe ranking. Seeing your skillset grow over time until you finish your first playthrough is rewarding in and out of itself.

The 20th mission was supposed to be a victory lap on normal difficulty while the bulk of the challenge of facing Vergil comes when you're fighting him as Dante. On the other hand, i think the common enemies in 5 are by far the most challenging in the series. I know There's DMC 1 but that game lacked variety while enemies in 5 has more variety and unique behaviors which you need to deal with them differently; they could fuck you up real bad if you don't know how to deal with them while at the same time being fun to fight if you know how to fight them properly.

meanwhile you're comparing a mode that just selects random combos and is exclusive to easy mode. even if it weren't, you'd be destroyed if you tried to use it against anything more than basic enemies in bayonetta whereas with skyrim enemies are all health sponges that literally encourage you to just spam melee.
if you were able to provide a similar result of a webm with bayonetta it would be disconcerting, but either way the point is that Bethesda is incompetent at designing these things. they haven't been able to develop either a good rpg system nor a good action system to save their lives, but normies eat it up anyways
