Aquatic update was fun. You can now actually see under the water. Also sunken ships, and buildings. Basicly underwater content.

The thing is I don't think its one you can actually utilise.

You say they could turn a profit by selling; they bought it for over a billion, and it was already at a point where max saturation was close to being reached (you already had autistic children masturbating to minecraft porn when Notch was involved). To me the buy just seemed really poorly planned on MS's part. Now if they were to flip it for a profit, with where its at, how could anyone else even hope to make a profit off of it? Who else is left to actually buy Minecraft?

I know kids are obsessed with it - my ex's little brother was one of them - but i don't think buying foam pickaxes is going to generate enough profit to warrant such a high price.

I already dabble in a modpack with thaumcraft, botania, and witchery. They were fun but I'm keen to expand my horizons.

No one modpack is probably going to be a safe recommend, so keep an eye out for certain mods:
Anything with Astral Sorcery is a safe bet. Just don't make an Armara Mantle unless you want to break the game.
Thaumcraft if you don't mind grinding for research and the retarded fucking sanity effects.
Botania if you want a factory mod disguising itself as a magic mod.
Embers Rekindled if you really fucking like Dwarves.
Abyssalcraft if you're a legitimate masochist.

Tree's gonna be real impressive until you get 1/3rd up the trunk and hit the height limit.

What's wrong with Astral Sorcery?

My last modpack already had botania which I never used as a factory mod I just unga'd my way through with an infinite mana generator and that mirror.
Thaumcraft as well but I didn't explore it too thoroughly.

What modpacks have astral sorcery and/or embers rekindled that you'd recommend?

I'm a Kitchensinkfag, so I just use FTB Revelations which has everything I mentioned in save for Abyssalcraft.

I just don't like the whole premise of looking at the sky at certaind times and days to figure out some random shape.

I love how this board acts like TF2 is a boomer game and Minecraft is a zoomer game even though TF2 first peaked around the time Minecraft came out.

It's not that hard, though. You literally just slap down the telescope/Observatory and check it every night when you've got a constellation learned but not unlocked. After that, you just connect the dots.
