Best indie game

Hollow Knight
Underrail
Darkest Dungeon

yas

It's real good, but definitely not the overall best. I'd rate it higher if it weren't for all the backtracking.

Divinity Original Sin, 1 or 2 is your pick

Minecraft

How is Trial of the Fool even possible?

*blocks your path*

nah hollow night is better but Isaac is definitely up there.

I think silksong could be better, hope they have better dlc stuff though. I liked hollow knight enough that I wanted to experience everything and let me tell you that getting all the bindings on every pantheon including PoH was not fun in the slightest. I still would like a boss rush just implemented better.

You zoomers really haven't play metroidvanias before
It's not that hard, just use the right charms and you'll crush
Nailmaster's Glory and Dream Wielder are a must, I also used Quick Slash, Unbreakable Strength, and Longnail

Darkwood

rain world

>You zoomers really haven't play metroidvanias before

Not him but I'm 36 y-o and grew up playing NES
Hollow Knight is a 8/10 AT BEST
The only reason you incels praise it so much is because you get to interact with a female NPC that says "SHA" or something

normie tier

Darkest Dungeon is shit tho

For sure. It's awesome.

I wouldn't say hollow knight is the most outstanding metroidvania in any category, really... but it's so damn solid all around, it's got a lot of content, and it's like 10 bucks, so it's easily my most recommended.

is this the metroidvania thread? does anyone know if the momodora games before reverie are worth checking out? reverie itself was pretty basic but I loved its atmosphere

Darkest Dungeon's gameplay loop is so shallow it may as well be an idle game

>in development for 9 gorillion years
>only real draw is the art
>even that begins to fall apart by the end
>didn't sell very well
What are some other notable indie JUSTs?

Attached: owlboy.jpg (1276x716, 440K)

Owlboy was good but it was so easy, and by the end I felt no drive to collect everything to get to that vault area. Gameplay/art/story was good though.

Why is he so much fucking harder to beat than Radiance?

Attached: gpz.png (265x315, 42K)

Where did I fucking say it was perfect? It's a fucking metroidvania, and that genre involves backtracking to unlock new areas and items

S H I L L T H R E A D

Alright Grampa, name a legitimate 10/10 metroidvania

Cuz he's RNG as shit. Best way to beat him is pray he keeps doing that stupid running attack and just pogo him the whole time. God help you if he keeps doing his jumping fakeout attack.

just spam the down spell like you do for pretty much anything else

Art is good, game sucks ass

>these scrubs
Took me less than an hour to get the golden statue on my steel soul save, all his moves have clear counters.

>contact damage in a melee game
awful decision. decent game though

That isn't Cave Story

cave story is Classic but it's by no measure the Best

It's not even hard aside from the one segment where you can only cling to the walls. As long as you don't die there the rest is pathetic.

I initially was very apathetic to this game, played it for a few hours during it's prime hype around release and soon dropped, I think I was too tired of the genre after AV and Valdis?
Anyway I just picked it back up and having a blast. It really made me remember why I even liked actual Metroidvanias in the first place with it's vast world that I am constantly lost in, no annoying forced "here's a too high platform with a pathway and an item in the first hour of the game and a double jump in the dead end 30 minutes later" shit that feels awfully inorganic and just plain insulting.
So far just lots of wandering and well crafted exploran, loving it. What about DLCs, are they just some kind of bossrushes\challenges etc. and other post game stuff or should I buy them asap?

All the DLC is free and already integrated into the base game. The chances are you might have already experienced some of them. But yes, for the most part they're post-game challenges.

After having your fill of HK, go for ESA next lad.

Not him but what's ESA?

best metroidvania for sure
best indie game??
nah

would give that to a hat in time, easily

Environment Station Alpha.

here's the real best

Attached: hellsinker gameover.png (640x480, 123K)

It’s really not, bro.

Underrail...
>Brhu

Oh. That's actually great
Yeah, ESA's been on my ears for quite some time, definitely going to pick it up, HK is guaranteed to leave me thirsty for another proper vania after i'll be done with it
Thanks

>gameplay loop
autism speak

there are none. HK is closest the genre has ever gotten to a 10/10. We have to wait for Silksong

is Rain World

best platformer ever made

>complaining about backtracking in a Metroidvania
>a Metroidvania with fast travel and a custom warp point no less
