Minecraft stage has the same gimmick as Mario Maker stage with the layout changing whenever you load the map.

Nah that's a shit meme, it's only half the game. The other half is gearing your hunter with cool armor and using a variety of weapons with unique moves. And the hunters have plenty of personality in their animations.

Each character gets a Stage + Music. I highly doubt that we're going to get a standalone 3rd party stage for no fucking reason. Either Steve gets in with a character and a stage or we don't get any minecraft content at all outside of a Mii costume.

Isn't there a gap in the stage select screen? If you calculate where all the Fighter Pass stages go, there's one empty spot left in the corner

That's some serious reaching. If we're going to get another stage it will likely be a first party stage or a returning stage that didn't make it in the first place, like Mute City or Pokefloats or something.
The only people who think "i-it's just a stage" are the people who are afraid that Vergeben was right when he said Minecraft content and don't want Steve to actually be playable lol. There's no real reason for it to be a Minecraft stage unless Steve is playable. Same goes for Banjo. If he gets in expect Spiral Mountain, not fucking minecraft.

The missing stage space is going to be the Smash Run map which you can have regular matches on now outside of Smash Run mode
a stage that size sounds like it would be a absolute shitshow but if they scaled it down it could probably work like the bigger kid icarus stage
i do hope they keep bringing old gamemodes back though
