no you can start making bombs in the first 50 levels of engineering. They dont stun until the copper plated bombs (forgot what they are actually called). i think iron grenades are first bombs that stun for a good amount. A lot of people just use iron grenades because they are cheap and they are mostly after the stun anyways.

They have enough testers even when only letting subscribed players join, so there is no reason to let anyone else in.

you can play vanilla, bc, wrath, cata, all kinds of stuff. and there are high xp servers if you just wanna see the content fast without grinding, it depends. there are 1x (regular xp) servers as well

Light's Hope/Northdale is probably the best vanilla server right now. Easily the biggest population on a private server which is one of the most important things.

By far the most polished are the vanilla private servers. There are some gimmicks there which are the result of guesswork of devs (stuff like /sit proccing on-crit stuff and so on), other than that, they're perfectly playable and have large communities.
You'll need the vanilla client (1.12.1) to play on vanilla private servers, you can't play with clients from expansions.

BCs two big mistakes were flying mounts and resilience, the former really wasn't an issue in BC itself but became a problem when they went mad and allowed flying in the old zones.

I haven't opted into betas and I wouldn't waste $15 for an overwhelmingly pointless beta/stress test. Blizzard will get my money on the 12th of August so I can reserve my name and not a day sooner.

Flying was a bad choice in retrospect, i agree. Another big problem was making the expansion area a different world completely.
Resilience was a pretty good fix for pvp, so i disagree. I do understand the rage pve-shitters would experience, though, but they could still basically one shot people.

Resilience was shit because it divided the game. Used to be you could get good gear from PvE or PvP and the reward was good period. In TBC you could grind to Gladiator and rock the best gear PvP had to offer but still get beat out by some schmuck in partial T4 and welfare epics. But that's just my opinion.

The problem was that pve gear was way too strong in comparison so they had to introduce res. But you’re right with the split it made.

BC's other mistakes were a garbage continent with a garbage neutral city, dead azeroth, paladins on horde and shamans on alliance, gear homogenization (look at all the interesting items in vanilla that had situational uses). There was class homogenization to some degree, though at the same time some classes became more specialized. Hybrid nature started eroding away for more a specialized role, motivated by raiding concerns. This can be seen most clearly with druids in pvp. Introduction of dailies turned the game from fun to work. When you can only grind for a set amount of time a day, you feel like you're missing out if you don't do your dailies that day. This is quite different from the grind whenever approach, where you're not actually missing out if you don't want to grind some day. You can just grind more some other day instead.

BC gets big minus by starting the downfall that wotlk accelerated and then onwards it was in full effect. TBC i view more of a DLC to Vanilla because the art direction was not as good as WOTLK. They are equally shit to me, and deserve to keep each other company so i've rated them like that.
they're both equally shitty yet playable, they're equal in shitiness.

It's long been established that Warriors were bullshit mary sues who got to ignore the Hybrid Tax. They should have been knocked down rather than every other class being brought up to their level.

Some GM spawned a bunch of endgame bosses to kill lvl 1s, c’thun is one of them.
Also, kind of a reference to what they did in the actual wow vanilla beta.

Hybrids, outside of 5 mans, have never been good in PvE. This is because PvE is too simplistic and heavily relies on specialized roles. For tank, your main concerns are to take as little damage as possible and deal as much threat as possible. For healers, your main concern is to heal as much as possible. For dps, your main concern is to deal as much damage as possible. You don't need people who do two or more things just ok. You want people who do one thing great. This is one thing that stayed constant during wow's lifespan (or at least the time I played it). It's so heavily ingrained to wow's raids that specialized roles are the key (and honestly, I couldn't think of a good way to fix it).

Our disagreement here comes from a different definition of hybrids. What you're talking about is a class that can perform several roles, about as well as a pure class, if specced correctly, but only one at a time. What I'm talking about is a class that does it all at the same time. BC made hybrids more specialized at the cost of the hybrid nature. One good example of this is tree form. Now druids had a form for each role, with one of them at the bottom of one tree, and one as a 31p talent (that was garbage in vanilla despite existing). This combined with the bottom half of talent trees being pretty good pushed druids into more specialized roles. If you want to do any cat/bear stuff, you gotta go get your mangle. This was very different from vanilla, where many druid specs were mixes between all the trees - getting NS from resto, getting feral charge from feral, getting some stuff from balance possibly, or maybe going further into feral for hotw.

Most things could not tank a properly geared Warrior. Mortal Strike and Hamstring combo were extremely deadly and usually near one shots.

Paladin for instance was a healer in Vanilla outside of making meme PVP videos. Fast forward to BC and they had a fully functioning ret spec AND they could be tanks. You're confusing homogenization for them fixing the useless/broken/unfinished specs.

Nah. There was plenty of homogenization in tbc, from priest racials, to hunters given a mortal strike, to cc for classes that didn't have it, to class weaknesses being addressed.

Talking about buffs is honestly retarded, because for the most part they were a method of getting some classes with subpar performance into raids on the account that they give some unique buff. A spec or class isn't unique because it has a 5% crit buff. It's unique based on how it actually plays.

It's one thing to add new gear or try to manipulate the game in a way which changes how you play it. But the respawn times were literally created for like 10 or so people in the area, not over 1000.

Unfortunately WoW was designed from the very start to only have 3 roles, tank, healer, dps. They never cared to have the always fun support role like many of the MMOs that came before it.

Couple reasons, one I don't really want to play classic wow only for most of the actual content from classic wow to be rendered totally obsolete. There's a lot of original RS2 content that just doesn't matter anymore or has no reason to exist because of shit OSRS added on top. Even BFA is pretty dogshit about this since the only raids that are ever relevant is the latest one.

I also find that when you give peoples influence over the design of the game, they don't really know where to stop so to speak, especially when it comes to convenience mechanics and streamlining, and it really damages the spirit of the game. There can be some valid improvements to be made but based off my experience in OSRS people just won't stop begging for them until the game is automated. Like okay add a barber, maybe send more than one item per mail, next people want dual spec, auto loot, many other things that can impact the game more than they realize and turn it into something else entirely.

It's not that big of an issue, really. Just remember stocking up on ammo before entering a dungeon, but they're relatively inexpensive and usually last for multiple hours before having to restock.
What's more annoying is having to feed your pet. Depending on which one you tame, they're gonna eat different food, and if you ignore feeding them for too long they can even run away.

It's up for another 12 hours for people to test it to lvl 5 and fuck with layering(totally not sharding) where you can zone in and out of layers on your own demand

Sounds interesting, I kinda like the role playing aspects even if the feeding sounds a bit annoying. Are there rare pets in vanilla you can camp for and stuff? That was one of my favourite aspects of playing the class in modern WoW, it really made the pet feel connected to you more.

The actual stress test was only for a few hours. You could sit in queue and watch streamers magically leap ahead of you and get right in with no issues in real time. Then AFTER the initial hype period where everyone else wasn't allowed in and got pissed off and stopped trying, Blizzard said they'd let it stay open until tomorrow.

Hunters are unstoppable killing machines at low levels, pets are as strong as an entire other player. They don't scale well and they fall off pretty hard at 60 though.

Ammo is a gold sink but not a super huge issue if you pay attention to it. Feeding your pet can be really fucking annoying too, especially if you tame something that can't eat meat and/or fish. (Hint, never tame anything that can't eat meat and/or/fish). At a certain point your bags can get really cluttered with ammo and food though which sucks.

Training your pet is also extremely obtuse and weird in vanilla. Basically your pets never learn new abilities or ability ranks on their own. To teach them new abilities you have to stable them, then go out and tame a new animal that naturally knows the ability you need, then after fighting with that new pet for a bit its abilities will be added to your pet training list, which you can then use to train those new abilities to your real pet, provided they have enough training points, which they get on level up and through happiness.

Pet stats are not normalized so you will end up camping the best pet to tame.

There's a bunch of rare pets, not that many of them are mind blowing or anything so I'd recommend that you'd just go with whatever looks cool or is good to piss people off with instead of wasting hours waiting for a spawn.

Stats can be different but not enough for it to really matter. The only specific pet which will be valuable is brokentooth, for being a cat with 1.0 speed, but other than that there's a lot of options for many pet species.

Also, Lupos won't mean shit in classic. Lupos doing shadow damage was removed in 1.9 and only shit 1.12 funservers added his shadow damage back.

Pet feeding isn't as bad as it sounds. As soon as pet loyalty goes up to max(best friend?) You will hardly need to feed it. Just throw it some good every now and then. Or when it dies it goes to yellow and one piece of food will bring it back to green. Bears amd boars are easiest to feed since they eat anything. Cats eat fish and meat. Raptors only meat. These are the easy ones. The Gorrilas or other herbivores only wat fruit and it's kinda annoying. Protip: if you use a bear or boar you can feed it mage food. Extra tip not related to pets: you can fear Feral Druids with Scare Beast. It surprised me how many people didn't know this, so im just adding it in there.

Same as always. Best way to get rep for Alliance/Horde factions is going back to low level quests you missed, cloth donations, or battlegrounds once those are out.

It's basically impossible to get exalted with Gnomeragan, Thunder Bluff and Dark Spear through quests alone until AQ turn-ins are added. I'm not sure if Ironforge is impossible too.

Grey quests give something like 10% normal rep so there's no going back to lowbie zones later for rep. If you want another faction's mounts then you basically gotta go to their starting zones at level 1 and do all your leveling there.

Also the only rep-based discounts are 10% at honored.
