Recreations are the best way to figure out a new engine or toolbox, as you know how it must look, sound, and behave. Original stuff comes once you've got an understanding of the tools down.

Playing with PS4 controller fucking sucks. Sculpting especially.
Also I feel like that the amount of time it takes for you to learn to use the tools, isn't worth it since you would be creating games for a closed platform with the sony censorship overlords watching over your every move. Learning actual tools real devs use to make games is much more beneficial in the long run.
