What is the point if I still need the shit launcher installed

fucking retard

>"import" games from consoles
What the fuck is the point of that?

Who’s the retarded one being excited for a launcher “launcher”?

>whats the point of going fast if I need a fucking car to do it?

t. retard who can't read

Attached: demondames_0_800.png (800x1023, 1.2M)

Sounds good, especially now that stores are fragmenting.
Still need the other clients running in the background but hey it's something

Okay. Why do I need this if a game will just go through shitty uplay

Is it a good time to finally abandon Steam?

>install and launch any PC game
This has me very interested, other attempts at all-in-one launchers only show installed games which is not very useful

they need to create a standardization for friends / achievements and the like that all the platforms use. this is still walled gardens

It literally has multi-platform achievements and friend lists.
You could buy a game anywhere and your progress and contacts will be available in one place.

>launcher launcher
wtf is the point???

it'll be less than a week before steam stops gog from launching steam games

It literally says I need the other launcher installed, so the problem hasn't been addressed

Gog galaxy is worth using anyway, they actually implemented cloud saves into old games while steam hasn't even tried.

I mean either

1) It launches the other launches, making it pointless.
2) It bypasses the launcher. This annoys [company] as it means less interaction on their platform, which means less sales/user retention. They DMCA GOG or make it so the launcher has to be open to play their games.

And the launchers have to be installed for the apis to communicate, which means the problem hasn't gone away. You just made it pretty.

>valve giving a fuck about anything that isn't jewing VR
lol

>Import console games
What does this mean, exactly?

>a launcher that launches another launcher
Great, so it's exactly like buying Ubisoft games on Steam.

>You just made it pretty.
this is literally fine.
So long as it looks good on the surface, only ramlets will complain.

Kids on their parents laptops can go fuck themselves, no one cares.

Is this not just another layer of launchers?

Looks like it offers a bit more than Playnite does, which is... disappointing, actually. I was rooting for Playnite.

With GOG Galaxy doing this, other store's clients will probably end up doing it too, and it will be a mess. I'd rather just leave the aggregation to third-party, fully open-source programs.

Playnite stores everything locally so that your personal data is never sent anywhere. Will GOG Galaxy do the same? I trust GOG a bit more than other stores, but not that much more.

>no linux

Since always GOG WON
>buy the switch 3 on release
>download game
>refund game
>upload game since it doesnt require crack
>get paid every time the game get downloaded
>buy the game on steam or origin

Kek

it's not another layer for GOG games, which are of course the best games as they are all DRM-free.

>Buy car
>Can use car
>But can also hire a driver for said car
>Can also hire a person to remind said driver to drive said car
SIGN ME FUCKING UP!

That second case probably won't happen because you'll still have to buy games from other companies' launchers. At the end of the day all that matters is sales.

And I'd rather just use the application directly for those instead of going through a launcher

>has to say they are not spying on you for good guy points
The Chinese really did ruin gaming.

it says it lets you sync your customizations to the gog cloud to make sure it works everywhere, but you can delete customizations at any time and it doesn't store "personal data".
It goes so far as to say it doesn't spy on data on your computer, a jab at Epic Launcher and Steam.

Lol

since when Valve is doing evil shit? Last bad thing they did is made account settings private by default and ruined steamspy.

>aka to poorfag to buy a tesla

Do I need to explain to you how poorly optimized it is to run some of these launchers, especially all at once or are you just daft?

>ruining steamspy
>bad
Funny how that faggot screamed about how important public sales data is after getting shafted and now refuses to say anything about EGS sales

will we be able to add games that we don’t own though? I want to make lists of my games

>average PC has 6-12 physical cores, 16GB of DDR4 and at least a 1TB sata SSD
>"IT'S SO UNOPTIMIZED TO LAUNCH 500MB APPLICATIONS AT BOOT"
just admit you're a poor nigger

Attached: 1530926016032.png (451x595, 94K)

I wonder how long it took them to decide how many Gs the website name should have in it.
Probably a couple of months.

>will we be able to add games that we don’t own though?
Actually you can import GOG games you pirated into GOG galaxy currently when you run a local scan.
It won't do achievements so the page is blank in the launcher but the artwork and everything is there.

Will it help me organize all my pirated games? That's the real trick.

it says games you own not games you stole

You can already do that with Steam by adding non-Steam game to library. It's how you launch Bethesda games through script extenders.

That's good. But it still won't be fully open-source, so I still trust Playnite more.

GOG's idea of combining friends lists is pretty cool, but literally none of my friends use anything other than Steam. They won't even create GOG or Humble accounts for free games. So Steam's friends list is unfortunately the only one I would use anyway.

I stole it and now I own it, what are you talking about

>They won't even create GOG or Humble accounts for free games.
jesus christ

Attached: 1540376681213.jpg (2185x2185, 332K)

I hope it will let me download a game WITHOUT being forced to download dlc too.

I have to use the manuel downloader for mount and blade warband so I don't have to fill up my toaster with useless VC.

This is a solution to a problem we shouldn't even have.
Fucking windows explorer + shortcuts are the only launcher you'll ever fucking need but NOPE. Gotta have a launcher launch more launchers because fuck ram usage. Soon we're gonna have launchers for launchers that launch launchers ad infinum.
Good thing you don't have to use a launcher with pirated games.

Attached: 4ea2e0_5f559d9570604b31b797d20fc4fc3bec~mv2.jpg (383x600, 81K)

If they're going through the trouble of enabling imports from all the other stores, I'm sure they'll let you import games manually.

If not, that's one advantage Playnite has over this.

Attached: Locomalito.png (1441x859, 1.02M)

>Fucking windows explorer + shortcuts are the only launcher you'll ever fucking need
it's fucking ugly as shit and icons take too long to load because Windows explorer sucks dick and was never fixed.

LAUNCH ME BAYYBEE!!

DOWNLOAD ANOTHER LAUNCHER SO YOU DONT HAVE TO USE ALL YOUR OTHER LAUNCHERS.

Seriously fuck these dumb nigger companies who want you to download their spyware. Pirating everything thats not on Steam

Attached: 1469424273932.jpg (600x384, 15K)

Looks like wincucks finally have lutris.
Congrats.

>ugly as shit
Who the fuck cares? I don't stare at the UI. I just want to type "B I O enter" and play fucking bioshock. Having to have a launcher that essentially does the same exact fucking thing as any half decent file manager is retarded. I don't want fucking 3 GiB of auxiliary programs made for the sole purpose of launching other programs.
What prompted all this bullshit? Seriously.

Attached: qkryt9svenj21.jpg (750x745, 29K)

GOG doesn't spy on you, Steam does.
You need to get your shit straight.

>listing privacy as a feature
what sad times we live in

It's an update to an existing launcher though.

I mean, I suppose this update means you could use GOG Galaxy even if you don't have any GOG games, but that would be silly.

*opens Edge with a Bing search for "biology"*

Their FAQ says yes. I think I might switch from Backloggery to this

what do these companies think I have infinite ram and hard drive space fuck off I don't need another launcher so I can launch my launchers

how fucking little ram do you have?

The idea of being able to see all my owned steam, origin, uplay, twitch, and god knows what else games in one window makes my dick hard

Good goy!

Does it matter? I'd rather have that ram be used for the fucking game I'm playing than waste it on some bullshit program.
It's the equivalent of saying "bro the earth is 70% water so why don't we just keep pissing and shitting into it bro."

Attached: tjl316p4r0y21.jpg (720x673, 30K)

>bro the earth is 70% water so why don't we just keep pissing and shitting into it bro.
you realize fish literally shit and piss in the ocean and rivers for their entire lives right?
Most games will not use 16GB of ram, I run fucking multiple browsers and a VM with 16GB while playing modern games.
Get real.

>"import" games from consoles
I desire to know more on this subject.

Then why aren't you already doing it?

>GOG
>Trusted developer/Publisher with a good track record to consumers

>Playnite

can't i just use steam?
they already have these features

>Most games will not use 16GB of ram

>selling point is that they won't spy on you like Epic does

>they already have these features
they literally don't and importing games into steam is a pain since it only scans the start menu and then forces you to manually select the directory for everything it doesn't find.

Playnite is bad because you can't read?

>selling point is that they won't spy on you like Epic and Steam* does

Had anyone sign-in yet? How is it?

You can connect it to console accounts, where it will keep track of the titles in your libraries, play time, achivements, and other miscellaneous facts. Decent for keeping track of your backlog across everything, or for sheer data fetishism, but nothing else.

Where does it say the other launchers have to be open? It says the other launchers have to be installed, not running.
correct me if i am wrong

Me? I use a little launcher called "shortcuts on my desktop". Very useful.

>just have 6 launchers open at the same time bro fuck your ram

this would be pretty fucking cool.
imagine buying a multiplat game on PC while your friend is on PS4 and easily seeing how far he gets compared to you.

Attached: D6QA7CDWwAAttvq.jpg (575x411, 38K)

Fair enough.

Playnite is just bloat now more than ever now that GOGs doing their shit.

It's basically MAL for vidya. It also probably allows you to launch any game from GOG, acting as a shortcut

Honestly if all those features in GOG 2 are forreal, it might be better than Steam.

...

>having anything on your desktop
How the fuck can you even see your desktop at any given time?

Backloggery already keeps track of my entire collection.

>he doesn't use LTSB which removes all that gay shit

the fact that you're too dumb to use a computer is not an argument in favour of game launchers user

Attached: bottom.png (1332x1026, 419K)

No. MAL for games would be something like Backloggery with an actual game database. Not this launcher bullshit.

How can you complain about launchers and then say that you will pirate games from platforms that don't require launchers and buy games from a platform that does require a launcher?

yeah, going through several layers of the Start menu is so much easier than clicking one thing.

I really hope I’ll be able to use it for something like this.

But since BL doesn’t have a game database, and all the other websites look like shit, this one might actually be a good alternative

There never have been and literally never could be unless communism was implemented.

A "monopoly" would mean you could only buy games from ONE company. It would mean GOG not existing, Amazon not existing, retail not existing, and other online sites that allow you to buy games either physically or digitally not existing. It's not fucking complicated. Yea Forums calls EVERYTHING a "monopoly" because Yea Forums is a bunch of literal underage illiterate children.

What the fuck are you talking about? I just have windows open everywhere. The desktop is pretty much completely covered

Since you shill gog lately play gwent also it is the best looking and sounding card game today

Attached: 201595.webm (420x610, 2.84M)

>several layers of the Start menu
Nowadays with certain software, you simply have to type the title of the game.
That's even more efficient than having to find the icon on your desktop and double clicking it.

Brainlet here, can you teach me this?

Why would a launcher help that? In fact, on windows at least, it's faster to hit Win+D to get to the desktop, and type in the game you want to play.

Attached: 1557588624805.gif (250x250, 3.88M)

Sorry, but I'm already Gabe's slave because of Steam Input.

No Loli No Buy

I wish the old "tavern board" is back.

>right click the launchers icon in the taskbar
>click the game you want to play
Two fucking clicks, and I don't have to minimize anything

What? I said im going to pirate any games that require me to download another launcher.

Lol not even steam can bypass Uplay you're the retard here

no.
Gog galaxy is the only non-DRM client.

Use desktop icons for things you want to use frequently. You know there's a middle-ground between TOTALLY EMPTY and FUCKING MESS, right? If I had to type "firefox" every time I wanted to open my browser, I'd lose my mind. Not because it's hard, but just because it's fucking retarded.

>If I had to type "firefox" every time I wanted to open my browser, I'd lose my mind. Not because it's hard, but just because it's fucking retarded.
>what is pinning to taskbar

I'll believe it when I see it

It's not retarded, at all.. or do you type so slowly?

Oh my god, just get the fuck out of the thread with your desktops already

>If I had to type "firefox" every time I wanted to open my browser
Pin it to your taskbar, fuckhead

>sounds cool
>remember all my shitty rpgmaker hentai games on steam
thats a yikes from me

It's enough for me to use it as my primary launcher and get more stuff from them once they iron the bugs out. Not fond of betas.

So you think "anything not on Steam" requires another launcher, in a thread literally about the one site that advertises itself as being DRM free and not requiring a launcher?

I have my web-browser auto-launch at boot because there's never any situation where I wouldn't want it open.

Attached: 1529500492267.jpg (201x240, 6K)

One of the most common misquotes ever, congrats you're officially an NPC!

The taskbar is smaller than the desktop. Maybe the number of programs which I use frequently is enough to clutter up my taskbar but not enough to clutter up the desktop.

The desktop is a tool and you're refusing to use it just because it makes you feel special.

I could type 9999999 words per minute, and typing would still be more work than not typing. Therefore it's retarded.

I'm not a zoomer that needs extra shit, I just want to play good games you fucking retard. I don't care about anything else

Does GOG's launcher inform the user whenever they give out free games?
If so, that's probably another reason to use it.

so you can import your sweet rom collection?

I'm gonna sign up for the beta. It looks interesting but this playnite thing looks cool too.

I'm sorry you think it's retarded, but looking for a single icon in a messy desktop is retarded, as well as thinking that using the mouse is even faster than typing. Therefore you're retarded.

there is no way you use so many programs it fills the taskbar.
Even if you're an editor the number of programs you need to open regularly isn't that high.

Damn, do I love the Steam controller. I just want some way to control its configs without needing to launch everything through Steam.

>Maybe the number of programs which I use frequently is enough to clutter up my taskbar but not enough to clutter up the desktop.
Maybe it is. But pinning something to the taskbar keeps in a single place that doesn't change and is always visible, you complete baboon

>but looking for a single icon in a messy desktop is retarded
So don't make it messy.

>Install and launch any PC game you own, no matter the platform
what does "platform" mean in this context, exactly? isn't the "PC" a platform?

Not sure but would be icing on the cake. I am at the point where I have over 300 games and would prefer consolidation. If they could work a way to point you to the correct respective store with the best deal and let you just buy it and install it without dicking around I would mess my pants.

>the great majority of PC gamers can go fuck themselves
I love GOG, but this is will this won't catch up.

You want your desktop to be empty.
I want my taskbar to show only the programs that are currently running.

Let's just agree to disagree.

>but this is will this won't catch up.

Attached: 1533407511688.jpg (1278x1181, 122K)

This.
Thread is full of CDPNiggeR shills.

only if you pirated the games from GOG

I think it's pretty obvious from context that "platform" means GOG/Steam/Uplay/Origin/Epic, i.e., launcher or client. I'm not saying it's the right word to use, but I'm pretty sure you're just pretending not to understand what they mean.

I SAID ANY GAME THAT REQUIRES ANOTHER LAUNCHER CAN YOU NOT COMPREHEND ENGLISH

Attached: 1465085153582.jpg (480x360, 14K)

Same user.
I think the beta is still closed.

>Is it a good time to finally abandon Steam?
Not until someone offers some loli on their platform.

Well, you can switch between different desktop configs. Still needs active Steam though.

teslas are shit, nobody with money and has critically thought about cars buys them

The intern that ran the Twitter said something dumb, that's about it

yikes you're absolutely retarded. of course launching a game through GOG wouldn't bypass existing platform's DRM. expecting otherwise is retardation

I still don't get why people claim to hate launchers yet give Steam a free pass when they literally invented the concept of a DRM launcher

read harder

>user will never know the joy of Heelys

>it's Playnite but a tiny bit better
>nobody uses Playnite
>people are literally pretending to be excited for something they'll never use because it's not Steam
wow

That's great, now if they could just fix their atrocious refund system. Shit makes Steam look like Mother Theresa

The big thing Steam has going for it is you buy a game through Steam and you can easily get it on your Windows tablet, or your Mac laptop, or your Linux desktop. Literally every other client including GoG's Galaxy is basically Windows-only, or has integrated compatibility solutions to ensure your games can be played on any modern standards-compliant OS.

It's cool that that's a thing but at the same time the only launchers I only really used is Steam and Uplay so I don't really see the point of it.

>uPlay is barely passable after years of development
>Epic and the Microsoft Store are fucking trainwrecks
>Origin is somehow even worse than Epic
Maybe because to this day, Steam is unironically the only decent launcher?

GOG was always the best.

Asking this stupid question because it's relevant.
Is there any way to sort by library and category? Essentially for anything without a category put it in it's default library location but for ones that do put it in it's own group.

The only way this is possible is by having Steam/Epic/Origin/wtfever running in the background all ready so that GOG could hijack them. The game downloads would still happen in Steam, it would just be GOG telling Steam to initiate the download.

There is no way any other launcher or store would allow competition direct access to their servers.

Attached: 1539502048290.jpg (680x440, 26K)

>they actually implemented cloud saves into old games while steam hasn't even tried.
You do realize that all Steam is doing is making a copy of the registered local save directory over to their servers, right? "Cloud Saves" are not magical. It's literally a carbon copy of shit on your hard drive. Because of that, it works with ANY game that handles saves locally (as in, they don't have their own cloud saving, such as Hitman 2 does)

good.

better launcher = more/faster pirated games

keep paying for my free games retards

underrated post

Will it have support for Steam's controller API?

I fucking hate xbox controllers.

>allowing 3rd party software to control your games

yikes

The few times I used the windows store it didn't seem that bad.

Actual GOG client 1.2 shows pirated games too, it just don't provide service for them.
It only works for pirated GOG versions though.

Glad Steam is getting some competition but I'll probably never use it. Half the reason I like GOG is because I don't have to launch things through a shitty client

They're using the wrong word, but the correct word is only off by a few letters. "Monopolistic" vs "monopoly".

Epic is "monopolistic". They are engaging in monopolistic behaviour, with the goal of becoming a monopoly.

That's the dumbest thing I've read all day. Selling a couple games that no one else sells is neither monopolistic nor evidence of wanting to become a monopoly.

if that's the dumbest thing you've read all day, you must not have been here very long

This thread....

>LAUNCHERS ARE SHIIIIIIIT
>Well except Steam haha
>DRM IS SHIIIIIT
>Haha except Steam because they are the good guys though
>WHO THE FUCK WANTS A LAUNCHER FOR HIS GAMES?
>Well i use Steam from Valve because they are good

What kind of Stockholm syndrom do these people have?

Is this even competition? Aren't GoG and Steam on like good terms or something?

I guess it's friendly competition?

GoG will never reach up to Steam because of the simple fact that Big publishers wont release their games without DRM mechanic.

GoG gets few "AAA" games and many Indies but not the entire stream of new games Steam gets.

I mean, don't you have a butler to speak to your driver? or, user, please don't tell me you speak to your driver's directly?

Attached: Girls.png (449x401, 490K)

have you been here for the past 6 years? faggots on this board are so eager to fight and piss one another off they've been shilling for various corporations, the biggest example of this is Sony / Nintendo / MS. The worst part is they do it for free.

So it just collects launcher shortcuts? Doesn't that mean I still have to have all the other launchers running in the background? What's the point of this, other than another resource-hog?

>Selling a couple games that no one else sells is neither monopolistic nor evidence of wanting to become a monopoly.
It's monopolistic when you are taking games that would otherwise be sold on multiple different outlets, paying them far more than they're worth, and selling them exclusively on your outlet. That is textbook monopolistic behaviour. You literally taking a commodity that was otherwise non-monopolized and then monopolizing it. Monopolizing things is how you get monopolies, hence why they share the exact same fucking root word. It is an attempt to starve out other outlets and get rid of them.

Can you back it up?

Now merge it with Discord and the good old days like when we had Pidgin with MSN and IRC might come back.

windows drivers have to be signed by a recognized CA which costs hundreds of dollars per year to maintain, so there's prob not too many community devs eager to jump on this as it's not just their own hours sunk into writing valve's drivers for them but a continuing out-of-pocket cost to keep it available

i suppose they could also just make their own driver-app but that's a lateral move from using steam. nobody paranoid enough to dodge the steam client is going to buy a steam controller, right?

The real ones are there, it's the XSEED japanese shite they didn't allow on the store

You mean using an adobe launcher that loads for 5 minutes before you can launch photoshop, gimp or paint? Yes, you THAT retarded.

>tfw sticking with steam, gog galaxy, origin, battlenet, onlive, twitch prime, uplay
Cant stop winning lads

The fuck are you using uplay for?

What's the difference between this and steam?

Attached: nekocry.png (522x522, 593K)

>can only be accessed in big picture mode
What the fuck were they thinking?

Actually, legally speaking they could have it bypass other launchers and no one could DMCA or touch them in any way for it.
There's no law that says you can't launch applications directly if they have a launcher or anything even close to that.

Something more realistic would be the potential for companies to label the GOG launcher as an unauthorized 3rd party program and ban people who use it to launch games bypassing the proprietary launcher.

Not him, but I have an account in it because the retail version of Assassin's Creed II asked for an account there. I had no other choice.

Based and redpilled. Launchers and achievements were a fucking mistake.

Illusion of a choise. Now retarded zoomers can choose between different spyware drm's and pretend they are free.

I hope this is the next Xfire

nuxfire

steamfags have been taking it in the ass for 16 years. They have been conditioned to love the steamy cock and defend the steamy cock

>GoG launcher has more features than epic games launcher.
>GoG launcher doesn't spy on you.
>Even if you don't like GoG launcher anyway you still can play games you bought without launcher by downloading DRM free installers you can even keep in external drive as backups.
Dear Yea Forums if you fucking hate steam and want to fight "da steam monopoly" you should support based Poles not some Chinese spyware.

>tfw sticking with steam, gog galaxy, origin, battle.net, onlive, twitch prime, epic, uplay, bethesda and discord.
I'll win them all.

BASED

average PC is way below those specs, it's probably some shitty chink lowcost notebook, just look at the Steam data

You know that GOG isn't the only DRM-free store, right? Even in their FCK DRM, they do list some competition in the gaming store. (One of them didn't liked to be featured there and requested the removal of their name, GOG complied)

>tfw I pirate games
I won.

The only thing you won is a trip to jail.

Hello shill, how much did they pay you, probably more than they pay me to shill for namco bandai games

Winnie the Pooh

Hey, that's pretty cool.

Undertale is on GOG?

zoomers grew up with drm, they do not know freedom from establishment

based and anti-DRM pilled

Yeah, but it took Toby Fox one year to make it there. There was a DRM-free version available on his website, so I guess he liked the brand.

Based Poles winning again. I like them quite a bit.

Unfortunately, as long as GOG stays true to its no DRM policies it will never be a true competitor.

Because devs and publishers are all cunts. Like even fucking steam has an option where you can choose to DRM-free but even the lowliest indie devs don't do it.

some games are only available that way plus GOG has their games DRM free too.

>some games are only available that way
There are literally gazillions of games that don't require a launcher.

Yeah, the amount of cheap indie games that require SSE or removing steam stub is insane.

>There are literally gazillions of games that don't require a launcher.

yeah and a lot of them are on GOG already which is neat.

>Calls others zoomers
>Doesn't know GOG is DRM free
Don't you feel silly now?

>getting excited over another waste of ram

I have yet to see anything stop my stolen Morrowind:GOTY CD. Nice try

You really think people who shill the Epic store are against Steam for actual reasons? They're shills, they don't give a fuck, they just want you to use Epic

GoG Galaxy Is OPTIONAL.
You don't need it to play games you bought on GoG. But is nice to have some functions like multiplayer or cloud saves.

Though that being said, I don't know if that's because the devs are scum or because Valve doesn't advertise enough that you can opt out of steam DRM.

I still hate that Arc System Works made GOG delist the Guilty Gear games. I should buy BlazBlue Calamity Trigger ASAP before H2 Interactive loses the rights.

>GoG Galaxy Is OPTIONAL
For some games.

Tell me a GOG game that requires Galaxy.
There are some that require Galaxy for multiplayer (which is not OK, since they have several games that can do multiplayer without that launcher), but still there's the option for offline installers.

Witcher 3

Hmmm...
>All versions of the game can run without GOG Galaxy and do not require any type of authentication, activation, or digital distribution software.
pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Witcher_3:_Wild_Hunt#Availability

Really? Some random website says that? I guess the actual copy I got from GOG must have a bug because it requires Galaxy to be installed just to launch the game unless you manually do a workaround.

But I guess random unofficial website > the actual game from the developer themselves.

This is actually interesting and I'm curious to see how it works.

My main complaint and refusal to use epic is not just their shitty business practices and buying exclusives, but the fact that it's another platform that lacks achievements and other features that steam has, and it's separating my progress in whatever games I buy there from the games I have on steam. Yes, achievements aren't completely necessary, but I like them, and I like keeping track of them on steam, completing games to 100% unlocking everything, etc. Without achievements many games I would have never fully experienced, such as Prey which requires you completely change your play-style for multiple achievements to experience the game in very different ways each playthrough.

I don't even like The Witcher. But it'd be nice to see Cyberpunk 2077 do amazingly, and without DRM. For another DRM free mega hit.
I still can't believe publishers still invest in shit like Denuvo.

I also have Witcher 3, you're a lying retard

Attached: Annotation 2019-05-23 030422.png (1085x898, 381K)

>click on game in your gog library
>in the lower section of the window it should say something like "download offline backup game installer"

but how will they fund it for free?

No, you're the lying shill. CDPR has never released a single game that wasn't infested with DRM, Witcher is no different.

Still comes bundled with the mandatory Galaxy DRM system.

>CDPR has never released a single game that wasn't infested with DRM
Thanks for saying you were baiting us. I have a retail copy of The Witcher 2, you're full of shit. Go kill yourself.

Kill yourself

I miss the days when you could install games from a CD.

I tried it, it's really good, and much better than the previous galaxy client.

Good job from them.

Whats the point of using linux if you are running servers or aren't a pedo?

Aren't GOG games drm-free? If so, only games not available on GOG will have to boot up their respective drms.

i play 4 games on pc and i have 0 friend(s) i will only install this if they give out free games

I'm asuming that downloading the installer of the game I own on Steam via GOGGalaxy is a pipe dream?
One of the features of GOG that I adore is that I can download any installer of the game I own onto the HDD, so it stays there forever. In case of internet shortage or nuclear apocalypse I still physically own that game.

Sorry, user. You posted an actual discussion and your post will go unnoticed and be buried by shitposts.
But I’ll say I agree with you and like GOG’s idea of keeping friends between all platforms. Reminds me of Discord, but now it’s on a GOG account isntead of a chat program

Valve wants a backup plan when Microsoft will limit programs you can run on windows to only these program you buy at windows store.
Gaben is fat but not stupid

I've actually said from my own experience, not from a hearsay.

Gog worked with the DOSbox team to make the cloud saves work properly, most DOS games on steam still do not support cloud saves so you're wrong.

>There's no law that says you can't launch applications directly if they have a launcher
Don’t know about the law but there was a program I know that is used to make stereograms that couldn’t include a free program to align two images due to copyright, but the application could use the other program if the user already has the second program installed

I think it’s StereoPhoto maker that uses Autopano

More or less properly. Try playing the game that doesn't have "delete saves" option. The savegames you've created will be forever tied to your account no matter how many times you uninstall the game unless you shut down Cloud Saves completely. Like with HoMM or Warcraft series. Which is technically fine, but if you wish to go with a "fresh start" you are shit out of luck because those 20+ saves you've made throughout the game will still be here.

if GOG won then why are the more recent games 10 patches behind everyone else or completely missing content?

>DRM-free
But i already play DRM-free games on Steam. What makes the GOG client so special?

Oh fuck off. This is just a launcher, not the games. The games are already there. You can go to GoG.com right now and see hundreds of native Linux games.

Not having a linux client undermines their point of "all platforms". It also undermines their claim that they care about your privacy and are against data collection since they're forcing you to operating systems that spy on you.

>steam
>drm-free
Nigga, what?

On PC have a thing called shortcut

not all games on steam have DRM

It's only in beta signups right now. They might release it for linux once windows and mac have a stable release.

Which ones?

newfag

Well yeah but that's what I mean.
It's breaching copyright to actually include someone else's software in your program. However it's not illegal to launch and operate that software using another program though.
Your example pretty much just confirms my statement.

ice cream? i love ice cream!

usually older ones. think it has a tag or something

So like games no one play? Woah

There's a list out there of drm-free games on steam. Like people have said, steam's drm is opt-out.

I do not miss the days of having to switch cds to start a game.

nah, Valve doesn't care for people using the spacewar exploit even today, which is surprising considering the fact that they are mega jews

Attached: 1531437580470.jpg (480x360, 69K)

>another launcher
I already have a launcher. It's called my desktop

>That's the dumbest thing I've read all day.
Then you dont read what you write yourself?

I bought the smallest money amount available for my wallet, which is 35 PLN and I learnt I can't use it because the minimal amount they let you use is 35,99 PLN, so I have to buy another 35 PLN and even then I will have to wait 3 months before they let me spend my money. Fuck GOG

Always one retard in these threads always

What does this mean? Can I play BB on PC now?

based and GOGpilled

So you still need the launchers installed obviously, but do they need to be running for gog to be able to run them or can you just launch the game without the need of having the other launchers active??
It's not specifically stated in the op.

It needs a mod workshop.

Cool, can't wait for everyone to still just use steam and only steam

>What is the point if I still need the shit launcher installed
You don't you dumb faggot, holy shit.

>all it takes to trigger Yea Forums is talking about PC launchers

Attached: 1553531153795.jpg (445x436, 35K)

in response to the sea of apps for games GoG is making it you can boot and run theirs for all you games
It's claimed in the Q&A you just need GoG active

>people shilling playnite
>when lutris is infinitely better
yikes

Attached: 1529221675516.png (1200x796, 596K)

I won't make use of any of this but it's nice to see how much better a client be if the company actually gives a shit or isn't just buying exclusives.

is it worth dropping steam entirely for this ?

If anything this makes it so that it's more worth to get all the launchers.

They will win when it comes out with even half these features if it comes out with any of them

they're a libertarian company after all

He's right, you know

Attached: received_768541926880713.png (667x446, 43K)

>buy game from retail
>it's a disk that does nothing except maybe preload and a steam code

No it's not. That's how rights to sale work for most companies, patents, bidding wars, foreclosure sales, etc. You're an idiot.

>Windows and Mac

Meh.

Why?

Should i switch to ltsb from win 7? I've been using it for 12 fucking years and not sure it's worth it. Does it run old games like fallout?

This.

Support Linux, or I'll not use it.

Attached: hardware stats.png (934x418, 31K)

>how to kill all professional interest in your os in one easy step
They're not that stupid.

>buy game from retail
>it's a paper "disk" with a code on it

Retards who prefer physical copies over digital because "in case there's an apocalypse and the company shuts down and i can't play it anymore" need to off themselves. If such a scenario happens, you're going to be having bigger things to worry about than gaming.

Go take a horse drawn carriage as well instead of a car or bus. God forbid you run out of fuel!

>Your games
When their own tos say they will remove everything and block your account if you ever break them, no thanks, shitty misleading company, as long as it exists we won't have a true drm free experience
>What would be true drm free experience?
Well, first, games won't be linked to any account, they'll have to work like bitcoin, an id and then some phrases you can customize, full anonymity so there's no risk of them ever getting removed for any reason, sales final.
Then, you should be able to do what you please with them including destroying them and selling them.

Thankfully gog is in a huge crisis right now, I'm hoping for its demise, as of now, it's literally Steam or Epic, except the games skip the license check. Pirating is the best we got as of now, if you want to support devs then send your money directly to them and don't give any money to this company.

>Linux
>relevant

Why would I bother with GoG's shit when Launchbox already exists?

Attached: 262334223.jpg (2560x1080, 370K)

This.

>devs have literally no problems selling their games there
>but I must complain because reasons
Kill yourself.

I like physical copies because I can re-sell them.

>Re-L

Attached: Man of Culture.png (498x280, 135K)

>Say they sell drm free games and that you own the games
>Actually you own a license and yes they can remove it and block your account whenever they want even after you paid for everything
Yeah, no problem at all retard, how about you kill yourself shiller? Most devs aren't as retarded as you, that's why they don't sell their games in that stupid store

It's impossible to have a monopoly as long as piracy exists. They still have to compete with people just deciding it's more convenient to pirate than give them money.

So why would I use this instead of steam and discord again?

>Actually you own a license
Every game ever released on retail comes with a license.

If you already use GoG because you like owning your games.

Lol. GoG just sells torrented games.

Only digital games.
Stop saying you own them then.

>Gog does bad thing
>Actually every other company does bad thing too
Nice argument.
Stop shilling this retarded store if it's exactly like the others!!

You don't own shit

>launchers
Totally unnecessary bloat to begin with but good on GOG for sticking to their guns

GOG is good if you like Witcher and assorted indie trash

Hi Will

>You must accept the enclosed License Agreement before you can use this product. If you do not accept the terms of the License Agreement, you should promptly return the product for a return.
mobygames.com/game/windows/metal-gear-solid__/cover-art/gameCoverId,15505/

Pointlessly exclusivizing third party intellectual properties in order to avoid needing to improve your service to continue holding on to your market niche is some of the most anti-competitive monopoly-seeking bullshit to come out of the industry in recent decades you fucking swine.

>Supporting SJW asskissers
No thanks

Attached: 1554724929209.jpg (854x859, 63K)

It is pretty much everywhere except the desktop.

If it wasn't for Linux, I think I'd be already in some hospital with a major depression. It's one of the few things that gives me hope for the future of human kind.

And gog is different? No? Then what's your point?

>463184658
My point is that you're full of shit.
>463183510
>Only digital games (have a license).
Kill yourself.

>463185176
Not an argument. Not even worth a you, kill yourself shiller

So can we try this now?

>463185365
>digital games sucks because there are license agreements
>physical games had them since pretty much always
>s-shill

Not having to launch software to launch other software is the entire point of GOG though. Hard pass and yikies from me.

Discord and Steam already do this, Win + G already is implementing a chat system via xbox live. This adds nothing of value for PC gamers if it still requires Battle.net, Microsoft Store, steam, Epic store etc installed in order to download and run games.

This is not going to do anything, its like the OneGuide on Xbox One, it just slows everything down and feels jaggy.

they dont have a clean record but source ?

Are you guys blatantly ignoring what this 'launcher' does? It doesn't bypass Epic or any other launcher's built in DRM and data collection. When you boot up the GoG launcher and play a game thats on Epic Games store, it BOOTS UP EPIC GAME'S LAUNCHER AND HAS IT RUNNING. THEY STILL GET TO COLLECT/SHARE ALL YOUR DATA. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS YOU NOW HAVE 2 LAUNCHERS UP.

Hahaha hahaha. Windows game bar fucking sucks and makes everything run worse as well as that shitty game mode.

If it automatically closes the launcher when the game is done like uplay that would be a nice improvement.

What are other drm free stores? I'd be interested in taking my business there.

can someone tell me the difference between this and discord other than achievements?

People actually buy games on Gog.

There are actually games on gog.

effective 90% market share is a defacto monopoly, don't be a semantic faggot
e.g. google has a monopoly even though octogenarians using Edge on their all-in-one use Bing by default and people with browser hijackers use ask.com

I actually buy games on GOG.

Ehhh I already use Steam for that with the Add a Non-Steam Product thing.

zoomers don't know about that feature

>tripcode user being retarded
Everything checks out here

Man who has the rights to prey 2006? Fucking great game, I lost my discs years back. Should definitely be on digital again.

no steam no buy

don't be a fucking retard
when people say monopoly they obviously don't mean a literal, absolute 100.000% control by one company, they just mean a pretty fucking huge control that the said company can abuse, because the market is already too reliant on said company, and even the second closest competitor is fucking far away from being able to prevent this abuse by competing

>and consoles

how does this even work?

Attached: 00001.jpg (221x213, 12K)

Maybe learn what words mean before you use them incorrectly.
