I've been wondering the logic behind the Switch being ""portable"" since when they were calling it the NX, and using a friend's really didn't do anything to change that for me. This thing is less pocketable than the DMG and has a 3 hour battery life.
So wait, why do people call these things portable again?
I don't care. I am currently waiting for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and playing Spider-ManPS4 because I want to play as Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and his eternal rival, Venom (Eddie Brock.)
I do not care for Spider-Man (Miles Morales) because he is weak. His Venom Blasts are weaker than a serious punch from Peter Parker as seen in the Red Goblin arc of TASM which is the only good thing that the pig, Dan Slott, has written. Also, Miles Morales is barely Class 10 as he's physically weaker than 1610 Peter Parker, but 616 Peter Parker is Class 25 while holding back. At full bloodlust, Peter Parker is Class 50 (pic related) and he exceeds Class 100 with either the Venom Symbiote or the Other as they are both stronger than Morlun who can survive Wakandan nukes. Even against high-end super humans, Peter Parker has to hold back because his Mark of Kaine is strong enough to casually tear apart Iron Man's armor.
With the Other or the Venom symbiote, Peter Parker can hurt and even kill gods. Superior Venom made Thor bleed with a punch. Kaine has shown that the Other at its full potential can kill Solus with ease, so Peter Parker could also do the same as he is the Spider-Totem's chosen one unlike Miles Morales.
Wall Crawling is the most dangerous ability that a superhero can have, and the Mark of Kain isn't just Peter Parker using his wall crawling powers on your face. It is control over electrostatic forces just as the Speed Force is control over kinetic energy instead of simple "super speed." This means that the pain of the Mark of Kaine comes from Peter Parker forcibly splitting apart the atoms that comprise your face. But that's not all. Peter Parker's mutations have allowed him to control these electrostatic forces with any part of his body such as the time Anti-Venom tried to remove Peter's mask, but it was stuck on his face. Can you imagine what would happen if Peter Parker where to throw a punch with the Mark of Kaine instead of placing his hands on his enemy's face?
the switch is the worst "portable" console ever made. it's oversized, unergonomic without a grip case, the joycons are cheap shit, the battery lasts two hours, and every game looks and runs like shit in handheld mode.
handheld mode isn't a worthwhile successor to the 3ds, it's a shitty gimmick they tacked on to the switch to justify lagging a generation behind on hardware again.
This shit again? How do you take your PS4 or Xbone along with you? You need the console itself, controllers, a screen, and all the wires to actually hook it up. Now compare that portability to the Switch's. You just need the Switch and nothing else.
So yes it's portable. A little on the big side sure but it's portable.
nice OP I have all those things too
I can lug around my original 1992 Game Boy in my pocket, it's cumbersome but possible. I can't put this thing in my pocket. My Game Boy lasts 20 hours on one set of batteries, the Switch lasts three on one charge. When the DMG is more of a handheld than your console you really need to re-evaluate your whole plan. And to add insult to injury they're killing off the 3DS for this shit, when this isn't and will never be a portable console.
>a little on the big side
>doesn't fit inside of pockets, you have to take it in a tablet case or a backpack
>How do you take your PS4 or Xbone along with you?
the ps4 and xbone aren't being sold as portable consoles. the switch is, and it fucking sucks at it compared to previous portable consoles.
Without the joycons attached it's nearly the same size as the original Gameboy and the 3DS XL.
portable has a variety of different meanings. There are basically laptop brief cases for consoles that have monitors in them but need to be plugged in but that is way more portable than lugging a TV and console around. A laptop is a portable computer but harder to pull out in certain places and have limited battery life but can be plugged in. Gameboys were not even great pocket systems. Often kept in bags over pockets even the gameboy pocket. i dont deny Many people still use them in their pockets but its not a sole factor of portability even if it was a selling factor for some versions of the systems. Switch is too big as a pocket system but a fine system for a bag system. something to take out in places or easily transport somewhere between a laptop and a pocket sized gameboy or similar
Yeah fatass, not everything needs to fit into your fat folds
yes that makes something portable. its not the switch pocket
>the ps4 and xbone aren't being sold as portable consoles.
Well of course I was merely illustrating the very obvious differences between a portable and non-portable console. The Switch is clearly portable.
Again, it's a bit big to be carrying around in your pockets but who the fuck does that anyways except for children? Good for taking with you to bed, or to shit, or on vacation or whatever else you do with portable things other than putting in your pocket.
it's a stupid idea but Nintendo just changes the console gimmick instead of making new games now
If you can take it with you and use it in various locations without needing to plug anything in or any heavy lifting involved, it's portable.
First off, no it isn't
I just keep the joycons separate in another pocket
Secondly, even if it was, yeah, this sure is convenient.
people who take the bus or train to work
i guess the ps4 is portable too, then, since you can carry it around in one of these things.
your special kind of stupid huh
>I can lug around my original 1992 Game Boy in my pocket, it's cumbersome but possible
Why even fucking do this? also the system was made and advertised for children even more than the switch was. how would a kid fit it if you struggle
>I've been wondering
Liar.
Because what, are you going to have it in a pouch you clip onto your pants with a carabiner? Carry it around in your hands everywhere?
That still requires a standalone power supply of some sort, even if it contains the rest of the hardware. There's no battery.
I'm so sick of these portablefags
I rather prefer to have my system docked
>comparing switch to other portables makes it look bad so i'll compare it's portability to things nobody made or wanted to be portable
>blocks ur path
Nice try faggot.
get a fucking backpack retard
the 3ds xl folds over, and you don't have to detach the controls to carry the 3ds or game boy around in your pocket.
>the system was made and advertised for children
Just keep the joycons in another pocket I guess, right? Thereby taking not just one but nearly two pockets' worth of space?
And you could connect it to a TV.
Who the hell actually uses a backpack after high school or college?
portable ≠ pocketable
/thread
fuck you
>the 3ds xl folds over
Yes and when folded it's roughly the same size as the Switch minus joycons as I was saying.
I use one when travelling, it's convenient
Sure do whatever you want.
>buying a backpack for the switch
you might as well go all the way and wear a t-shirt that says "i'm a cringe manchild" on the front.
That "minus joycons" thing is important, because with the 3DS you just open the lid and the controls are all there, while with the Switch you also have to fish out the controllers.
I mean so what? It's pretty well established that the Switch is portable but not really pocketable. If that's a deal breaker for you then either don't buy it or wait for the Switch Mini I don't care either way.
They either did or are about to kill off the 3DS for this, my options are going to be Switch and older/straight up old games going forward.
