Let me guess, you also think Luigi's MAnsion 1 is better than 2. You're a fan of chibi-robo and think Wind Waker is the best zelda game.
OP, look, I understand. You were 7 when Sunshine came out. You played it all summer.
Sunshine is a GREAT game. But to argue that it's the best of the 3D Mario titles is innately absurd. It's mechanically the weakest.
Not him but Wind Waker is a tedious, boring slog of a game, Chibi Robo is similarly tedious, a literal chore of a game.
Luigi's Mansion 1 is indeed better than 2 though.
Big brain thread? I like it
>It's mechanically the weakest.
Mechanically, it's one of the better ones.
Level design, level variety, and overall content is where it's the weakest and those are just as important as the mechanics.
>you also think Luigi's MAnsion 1 is better than 2
I don't see how this statement would be untrue in anyway
not sure about all that but chibi-robo is the shit
Shit game, barely a third of it is actually fun, story is nonsensical.
Prove me wrong Nocturnefags.
I dont see how its true frankly. To me 2 is superior in pretty much every way.
SimCity 4 is still the best city builder
Cities Skylines btfo
luigi's mansion 2 is a piece of shit
>Mechanically the weakest
There's a lot you can say about Sunshine but calling it the weakest mechanically when Galaxy exists is a fucking joke. Every 3D Mario opens up tremendously with skips to the platforming & creativity can blossom upon replaying the games if you do a good effort at learning to use Mario's abilities, and Sunshine is no exception. You know what isn't an exception though? The Galaxy games. That shit is floaty & slow, and although justifiable within the context of the game, fact of the matter is, there's little difference or improvement you can make upon replaying the Galaxy games.
Literally git gud, faggot.
Seething GC baby.

>It's mechanically the weakest.
Its mechanically the strongest, aside from the FULL FIVE FUCKING SECOND hover. It's literally every other thing in that game that's the problem. You could sum up every moving platform in the overwolds and I'm willing to bet there'd be less than Tick Tock Clock had by itself.
I find Seasons more enjoyable, honestly.
Puzzles, gameplay, gives Luigi more personality. The multiplayer was a lot of fun too.
the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be.

there, you dont even have to reply now; ive posted all the canned responces you would have used.
Note that this applies to modern Sonic specifically
MM has a much more annoying intro than WW. It's cool the first time, but is grating on repeat playthroughs.
ya seethe lil man?
It's only one cycle, though. In WW you're not really free until Dragon Roost Island.
>Implying that the draw of Sonic is the story
How about no. Oh but of course you post uncharted, bland boring ""game"" with lame story anyways. I bet you like witcher 3 too
Reminder that only retarded niggers think that the gun and treasure sections aren't fun. I always liked those stages.
You can get through the intro much faster than Wind Waker's thanks to the scarecrow. Still a bit tedious, but it really doesn't take that much time.
if i ever meet you in real life im gonna pin you down and violently fuck your prostate you annoying little brat
What kind of crack are you smoking to think that MM has a more tedious start than the 3rd most tedious zelda ever to come out. WW is basically a tutorial for hours and practically doesn't start until you reach hyrule
Oh look another thread for Sunshine, but not Odyssey. Where are the Söydessey apologista gonna get their excuses now?

Cope.
The gameplay itself is shit. Only Sonic/Shadow is fun to play as, and Shadow only gets 4 stages. The mechs are mediocre and don't belong in a Sonic game. The treasure hunting sequences are unironically the worst gaming experience I've ever had.
The game is terrible, people only like it because of nostalgia.
It's way too gimmicky. Some of it works, and then there's shit like the skateboarding or the dumb yeti boxing or 75% of the time you're playing as Sgt. Byrd. 2nd game was much better. Moneybags did have the GOAT lines though
this was the last good 3d sonic game
The ranking system is completely broken, you can complete the stage with 300 rings, defeat all the enemies and finish in record time, and you still only get a C rank. Chao minigames are boring distractions. Certain upgrades should just be a part of the default moveset or be removed entirely. Nothing about this game is redeemable. Nothing is worth going back to visiting.
god i need to replay this game while drunk
*blocks your path*
>only the sonic/shadow stages are good meme
WIld Canyon, Pumpkin Hill, Meteor Herd, Dry Lagoon, Weapon's Bed, and Cosmic Wall are all outright great too, though. And the vast majority of the treasure and mech stages, while not outright good, are perfectly servicable.
The only actually bad missions in the game are Aquatic Mine, Mad Space, Eternal Engine, and arguably Security Hall, Death Chamber, Egg Quarters, and Crazy Gadget.
Sunshine is unfinished, rushed shite
>implying 3d sonic is good
the only correct answer itt
>Don't belong in a sonic game.
They are in a sonic game, that means they belong. Measure elements of games based on their execution, not based on if you think it should be going for that to begin with.
Was impressive how they managed to make every single gameplay aspect carried over from Adventure 1 actively worse in Adventure 2
Sonic and Shadow move way more stiffly in SA2 than Sonic in SA1, even slightly tilting the analog stick sends them zooming off in a 45 degree angle
It's similar for Tails and Eggman in terms of movement compared to Gamma, but even worse, they're no longer playing levels designed for Sonic like Gamma was in SA1, so almost every stage is now a boring labyrinth that doesn't even feel like you're playing a Sonic game (though 2 of the Eggman levels were did manage to capture the feel a bit).
Knuckles and Rouge combine all of the above problems with a worse radar.
>They are in a sonic game, that means they belong
That's not how that works.
>3D Sonic is absolute shi-
>And the vast majority of the treasure and mech stages, while not outright good, are perfectly servicable.
No, they're not. They're boring, repetitive, frustrating, confusing, slog fests that make you say "Okay, gotta do this chore and then I can get back to the fun part." When I played through this game I was literally begging to play another Sonic stage after a couple mech and treasure stages. The only stages I remember liking are City Escape, Metal Harbor, and Radical Highway
I don't like the Zelda series in general, so I may be " biased " in that regard, but what I played of WW was honestly one of the most boring games i've experienced.
You're just mad because you never got to see green hill :^)
I would say that the only bad missions are Death Chamber and Mad Space. The other stages you say are "bad" are at least meh to alright if you know what to do. Egg Quarters I would argue is a fun stage purely because the robot thing forces you to change up the strategy.
Yes, yes, very good, Unleashed, very good...
HOWEVER
>You're just mad because you never got to see green hill :^)
If Sonic Generations never existed you might have a point
Mech and Treasure stages are only slogs if you're a fuckin child or a retard. If you know what you're doing its not a slog. So instead of trying to improve the experience, you just shit on something because you can't just readily consume it right off the bat.
I always thoroughly enjoyed the mech stages, E-102 Gamma was the best part of SA1 and liked the treasure stages to a lesser degree, but still have lots of fun.
Is there a more underrated game than Sonic Heroes?
>Still has boost gameplay
Yea no. SA2's green hill is cool to look at and you can break the fuck out of it.
Unironically this. If anyone shits on heroes they're just a fucking idiot
Spoken like a true bandwagon fan.

based
>Wind Waker isn't the best zelda game
> If you know what you're doing its not a slog
>AKA play the game a hundred times so you've memorized everything and can skip past the bullshit
If I have to know everything ahead of time the stage isn't fun. If I need to master the stage to have an enjoyable experience, it's a shit stage. The enjoyment should be in mastering the stage.
Sonic Adventure had decent treasure stages because you could find treasure pieces in any order and the clues weren't complete fucking gibberish. Sonic Adventure 2 decided "Nah fuck that, have fun flying around for 20 minutes in anti-gravity looking for that last piece faggot"
>hey're boring, repetitive, frustrating, confusing, slog fests
Boring? Sure, I could see that if you don't like the sheer act of moving around and exploring with knuckles/rouge, and i'll concede that the mech stages aside from Weapon's bed and Cosmic wall straight up ARE boring. Repeititve? Sure, I guess, but no moreso then the sonic/shadow stages, it's just the base expierence isn't as good to begin with.
But frustrating and confusing? Imagine being this much of a brainlet. Aside from for Mad Space I guess because fuck Mad Space
That's a single stage, user, and everybody agrees Mad Space is fucking dogshit
>projared still has fans after cheating on his wife

Genuinely don't understand how it gets so much hate. Yes it's janky but not more so than any other 3D sonic game. The story is dumb fun, it has ambitious mechanics and level design, presentation is great, personally I really like the 4 campaigns. I feel like the only people who genuinely hate it are dumbass game reviewers who force themselves to finish all 4 campaigns in a week to meet some deadline.
ProJared was 100% right about SA2.
this
BW2 is objectively better, they're both good games though
HGSS is an objective improvement over crystal, and while crystal is great, it's still super limited by being gen 2. Most post gen 2 games are better: it's better then RS and FRLG but that's about it
Platnimum, HGSS, and BW2 are all clearly better then emerald, arguably others as ell
For their time, though, both Crystal and Emerald are top tier and if we were using that as the metric the'd both be contenders for the best in the series alongside Platnimum and BW2

Fuck ProJared, I played this game way back before he was ever a thing and hated it then
Him being a piece of shit has nothing to do with SA2 also being a piece of shit.
SA2 is one of my favorite games of all time but I think Heros is pretty mediocre.
Granted, I haven't played it since 2004, but I rememeber there not being nearly as much being a sense of flow. In SA2, you can seamelessly speed through the speed stages chaining jumps to homing attacks and running etc without really ever stopping, and it feels great. In Heros, a lot of actions don't carry over your momteum and the stages have a ton of sections with forced momemtum halters.
Granted, the mech stages in SA2 are slow, and to an extent the treasure stages are, but those are fundamentally different expierences, so that's fine, wheras heros is trying to be more then 1 thing at once and as a result don't suceeed at any of the 3.
Nice
My nigga.
listen man i love sonic adventure 2 but if you're going to sit there and tell me that clunky as fuck "alternate route" is good level design i'll kill you
I want to love this game but I suck at it so much I can't even really get very far in it. I suck at the item management, I hate that you can't drop things on a whim, I get destroyed in combat, but the graphics and the atmosphere of dread it evokes are so fucking good. It makes me sad I can't fully enjoy this game.
Keep at it, user. It's one of the few games I'd ever give a 10/10 to. In most situations, it's best to just ignore the enemy, as you'll want to conserve ammo for later situations.
People exaggerate on the Heroes momentum physics
I agree it's a worse than it SHOULD be, but it's just as janky as it was in Adventure. There are many levels where you can play it the way it was meant to be played, nonstop momentum over a track on the ground. Most other times you stop in place and that's when people complain.
Heroes is the SA3 people refuse to achknowledge. It just needed to be longer and bigger in scale story wise
how do you not like chibi robo?
I would honestly say I prefer the second a little more, but great taste nonetheless. I really like Billie Lurk as a character.
How accurate is this picture?
ya you love sonic adventure 2 so much you dont even know thats not it
That's not 64 or Odyssey.
Sonic Unleashed is simply called "Sonic World Adventure" in Japan and doesn't feature other playable characters like in the Adventure series, so I wouldn't include it .
Sonic 06 should be Sonic Adventure 4.
Sonic Heroes should be Sonic Adventure 3 and Shadow should be Sonic Adventure 3.5
Sunshine is the best 3D Mario game, but it's not the best Mario game. Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best Mario game.
sorry i meant to write 1/2. it's still absolute bullshit and you know it.

BW2 has shit Pokemon and BW's shit region and shit story
Nice looking environments and the PWT is a cool idea, plus Challenge Mode was added

>Heroes is the SA3 people refuse to achknowledge.
Sonic Heroes destroyed so many children’s dreams and turned them into cynical douchebags. I thought I was the only one but it turns out it’s happened to a bunch of people on here.
...
That's not super mario 3
It's the 2nd best 3d Mario after 64
The best game ever made coming right through
This.
It’s better to play the first RE as a horror puzzle game than a zombie shooting gallery.
I tip my hat to you sir
> mechanically the weakest
not only did it give you the best Mario movement before factoring in FLUDD, it partnered with an incredibly friendly camera.
oh no no no etc etc
>Chao minigames are boring distractions.
dull as shit with dumb mechanics
youtube.com
decent story and style, but lacking in substance
In terms of pure movement, 64 and Odyssey wipe the floor with it.
In terms of level design and variety, the Galaxy games and 3D World wipe the floor with it.
I don't play it that much, but I believe this is the most perfect game ever made
I view Heroes as more of a successor to S3&K than the Adventure games. You got a few different characters (or teams, as it were) that all go through the same levels and play mostly the same but have their own little idiosyncrasies that make them stand out and the levels all have slight redesigns depending on who you're playing as
Nice try, DSP.
>In terms of level design, the Galaxy games and 3D World wipe the floor with it
This thread contains the absolute worst opinions I’ve ever read.
1 had better atmosphere and story and 3 has better gameplay but I think 2 has the overall most solid package. The piklopedia was an amazing addition and the amount of enemy variety was really surprising. It has its own share of problems but so do the others. I think all 3 games are really good and are just about the same level of quality as eachother. Pikmin is a great series.
>posts the only good fight in the game
what did he mean by this?
Fucking garbage, is what.
Shadow the Hedgehog for example has horseshit voice acting and terrible physics, on top of not being an Adventure game in gameplay.
It is a 3D Sonic game, just like the rest in the picture, nothing more.
Playing on easy sounds like a good idea. I was kind of already thinking of restarting to play as Jill since I know she has more item slots, which sounds incredibly useful.
For me it's 2006
Galaxy I can understand, but 3D World? Just kys my dude.
Definitely don't play as Chris your first time. Jill also has the lock pick which will streamline your navigation through the mansion. Some other general tips:
>Examine every single item thoroughly
>Keep a notepad where you can jot stuff down in rooms where you can't yet progress
>It's better to use a knife/taser than ammo on zombies
Genichiro is actually one of the weaker fights in the game. Owl and Isshin are both miles better.
You need to be 18+ to post here.
youtube.com
The levels are annoying, the controls are worse, the combat is shit and having to play through the game 4 times to get the final boss was completely retarded.
Ever consider gitting gud?
That's not 5.
yes, exactly
5 doesn't play like a DOA game, doesn't look like one, doesn't have the same style
it was a regression on all fronts in an attempt to appeal to non-fans
it's awful unless you don't like DOA in the first place
That video only makes me want to replay Sunshine and I really don’t even like it. It’s not even in the top five Mario games.
I think it's safe to say.
>it was a regression on all fronts
Why was it mechanically the best, then?
because it regressed to what other fighting games like Tekken were doing
Respect
DoA is far more similar to Virtua Fighter than Tekken.
sure, but still
DOA5 introduced juggle fighting autism
Tekken is far more juggle heavy than DoA5. Not to mention that the way movement works in Tekken is vastly different.
And DOA5 is more juggle heavy than every DOA game before it
Not to mention sidestepping didn't exist
Not even a contest.
this/firestorm and RA2/YR are the peak of C&C rts
>It's mechanically the weakest.
It's literally the Mario game that allows you to do a diagonal walljump. That alone makes it mechanically the strongest.

This
Sunshine is probably my least favorite 3D Mario other than 3D World and Land. It isn't bad, it's just way too limited and linear.
>3D World is one of the worst games ever mad-
most kino souls game
People don't like this fact, but it's true.
I don't hate it, I just don't find it as fun as 64, Odyssey, either of the Galaxy games, or Sunshine.
Sunshine and WW aren't the best but LM1 and Chibi Robo are great
>3D world is bad meme
man they advertised a run to the finish in 3D and provided exactly that and everyone is so fucking asshurt it wasn't mario 64 2
i wanted a traditional mario in a 3D space since the N64 debuted, stop taking that away from me
SM64 has that too, and the fact that that game has 8 camera directions on top of more aerial control means you don't have to deal with doing diagonal wall jumps when you don't want to
You're allowed to like it. Like I said, it isn't bad, I just really like the rest of the 3D Marios more.

Oh good I'm not the only one, Heroes killed my hype for this franchise (which was briefly resurrected by Sonic Rush and killed again by Sonic '06). It was such a letdown after how fast paced and fun the action was in SA1 and 2, not to mention the whole team mechanic was pretty lame.
also I just remembered the comeback mechanic powerblow that's a travesty too

Sonic's moveset and physics being inexcusably and inarguably fucking GIMPED has fuck all to do with how many axes of movement there are
knight had the better story, but it doesn't exist without asylum/city.
it's difficult to say which is best story because the later ones build upon the older ones. 3 is best because its the conclusion/culmination of the 3

He can't curl into a ball (no, Spin Dash is not "curling into a ball"). The somersault does SOME of what rolling would accomplish (melee attack, squeezing under tight spaces), but not all of it (like gaining speed on slopes, out of a melee attack for instance)

I'll always prefer SimCity 3000
At least that one works without having to mod it
Lost world is interesting but only like 1 out of every 20 levels is designed well.

Fuck it hasn't even been a full 3 months since I first played and ginished this game and I'm already nostalgic. This game was so fucking awesome.
Kind of an unfair pick when Kirby Air Ride is the only Kirby game of its kind and is therefore best in its series by default. Not only that but the price given the miniscule amount of content makes it somewhat hard to bite the bullet. (I did just get my copy in the mail last thursday though, so who am I to talk) Ome of the more unfortunate things I found was that the majority of playable characters were just alternate color palattes for Kirby. 8/10 are just variants of Kirby. It's good but it's a bit hard to swallow in my eyes.
