it's almost like a roguelike in that the stages are procedurally generated and the contents of the presents you collect and open are different on every playthrough. really ahead of its time in that regard as far as non-ascii roguelike type games go

Mega Man X and Battle Network are genuinely good, but original Mega Man is just "okay" platformer run & guns, don't really deserve to be held to such high esteem

Dynamite Headdy is the most underated gem of Genesis
Red Zone is very impressive too

People will just tell you the same dozen or so games, and those games are the absolute best that the Genesis has to offer.

Shadowrun on the Genesis blows the SNES version out of the water. Two totally different games and the Genesis got the better one.

I grew up having both and they're both pretty great systems and you can't go wrong with either one. This is the truth of the matter. Anyone who says otherwise is just being a faggy console fanboy. God, I miss the 90's.
