If there's one thing that will make me drop a game instantly, it's a slow start
Dropped Okami and Twilight Princess during the intro

Your loss

it is very rewarding though! despite the admittedly slow pace at times

The ending is God Tier, have yet to find a better end to any japanese game

Best Zelda game ever

best zelda where you are a wolf even

This was literally just Capcom's version of Twilight Princess

It's nice to see a thread praising this game instead of shitting all over it like some edgy zoomer

And it shit all over Nintendo

>t. Zoom zoom

please stop saying "soul" as if it means anything

but how else can I say it? the game is genuinely soulful. it feels genuine and heartfelt. how do you describe that quality?

My only issues with the game were
>Not enough side events or areas to use your later brush powers like Blizzard or Lightning
>Not exactly much to do in the open world environment
>Platforming wasn't as smooth as it should have been, and there wasn't enough platforming in general
>Awkward to use brush skills with anything besides the Wii mote
Outside of that, I had fun though

>tfw a proper sequel never ever

I wonder if they'd go through the effort to make a fully HD remake of Okamiden or something? Outside of that, I'm pretty sure they want to make a sequel. It was pretty damn successful. The only question is, when?

>a fully HD remake of Okamiden
Would buy it.

I need to replay it i haven't touched it sinced i platinum'd it

It's the only game that made my cry about a paper and a stone wall
these 2 hit me hard

I should buy the HD remaster. It's been years since I've even touched the original on Wii.

>got the digital HD version on PS3 years ago
>fucking cant play it on PS4
Thanks, Sony.

You 12 year old zoomers will never know what it was like to beat the last one of these guys before cellphone cameras were even a thing.

we played it like 10+ years ago
its great

It wasn't even that difficult, though.

how long is the last sequence again, 8 or 10 dots?

It gets better
This but unironically.

I didn't even realize people had a lot of trouble with these when I played the game.

The only game with a memory puzzle that game me any trouble was firefly diary. Shit moved so fast my phone's slow motion couldn't fucking pick it up.

Oh god not having the world segmented into like 40 different loading zones would be great, as would instant battles without needing a lengthy loading screen. Would buy instantly.

>Capcom and Platinum almost made a deal to make a Okami 2, but Platinum Games had massive leadership problems when Scalebond was shitcanned

I just used a marker on my tv

The fuck is up with all the Mung posting lately?

same here I just could not do it otherwise

I think you'll find Twilight Princess was Nintendo's version of Okami

Eight

Actually which started development first?

There similarities are there of course but Okami never felt like that much of a zelda clone to me. The first dungeon works like a typical zelda dungeon but every other part of the game, the pacing and formula is way off.

I think Twilight Princess was revealed first, but Okami was close to completion by the time Twilight Princess was shown off in a recognisable form.

WHY CAN'T A SAVE THE SOUL OF THE BOOBIE LADY REEEEEE

The biggest thing for me with Okamiden was the stripping-away of all your mobility, it made running around a chore and was especially aggravating compared to its previous game where you can GOTTA GO FAST across huge, expansive areas.

Basically this. It just wasn't as fun to explore, and the areas were smaller to compensate with the DS hardware.

People had trouble with these guys?

The final blockhead was actually an asshole.

Most of them are easy but the one in Kamui can be a pain in the ass if you don't get lucky with the pattern or use unorthodox methods

I didn't quite get you're supposed to poke the spots in the order in which they appear the first time I played through so later ones were real cuntish.

Ha! I wish Zelda was actually like Okami. It's amazing what a difference that not having completely braindead, one-dimensional combat mechanics makes.

>omg it's japanese! it's so damn fantastic!!!
weebs should be castrated and drowned

Slow workday?

This, such a tragedy

You should've bought El Shaddai and support Takeyasu after he left Capcom, Yea Forums! Otherwise he wouldn't be forced to get by by making low-budget DRPGs.

Why compare it to Zelda?

It plays like a Zelda game, or more specifically like the Wolf Link sections of Twilight Princess. The dungeons are pretty lackluster in comparison, though.

I played it a couple years back but lost my save near the end of Ryoshima Coast, I remember beating up a stronger version of the spider boss or something
how far into the game was I? I remember doing most of the side shit and I can't really be assed to go back to it

I’d say around 2/3rds? Maybe a little closer to half way? Depends, you go on a spooky ship?

>why did you guys not say anything sooner?
You are way behind the times, bra. This game has been talked about to death.
In case you missed them there is also Gravity Rush and Rule of Rose.

I don't remember going on a spooky ship. I think I saw one, but I don't think I could go on it.

Then yeah I’d say maybe about half way. It’s a pretty long game and I’d consider the spooky ship about 2/3rds in. Oorochi is roughly a third I think.

What made me drop Okami is being boring, no skipping the cut scenes, Issun being very annoying, and I honestly do not like the way the humans look. Amaterasu is okay, but the humans look way too garbage. The art style is just not appealing.

Yea Forums has done a complete 180 on any game made by Kamiya, so they hate it.

Also while I love Okami to death it does get a tad too hand-holdy at times. And I wish a lot of the challenge was completely restrained to some bonus combat areas. Okami's OST is nothing short of a master piece though, holy fucking hell I love it.

I was a couple hours of side stuff after Orochi iirc, so yeah probably a big third/small halfway through. I'll probably pick it up again someday, once I've forgotten enough about it

Okami sucks. Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon is a better Japanese Culture game.

FUCK the little shit at Oni Island. Took me like an hour to get past his stupid ass.

If this was on PC I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

You can actually skip that one

>YFW you enjoy most of them because Edo Japan was pretty cool.

Attached: 1558546372781.jpg (1024x986, 153K)

Edo Japan sucks.

So is this like playing Zelda except you're a dog?

Attached: 1557936987109.gif (448x320, 720K)

Basically, yeah. The game stands on its own merits, though, so describing it like that doesn't really do it justice.

For the most part, yeah. The dungeons aren't as good as Zelda, though.

with better combat

I guess? It’s gets that comparison a lot but I’d say okami is more about the world and characters than gameplay/dungeons like Zelda is. Like I doubt anyone is bad enough they ever actually experienced the game over screen.

Cope

>It was decided early on that Sakuya would have a certain peachy motif, and as such we not only gave her breasts a peach-like appearance, but also her bum as well. I remember that Kamiya loved it and gave it the okay right away. We had also prepared "level 2" and "level 3" looks to go with the progression of the game, where she would become increasingly undressed but understandably, the proposed level 3 design was vetoed by Inaba...too bad.
>ywn see level 3 Sakuya

Attached: Sakuya.jpg (293x400, 98K)

because its not that good

Yeah, the dungeons actually do feel a lot shorter compared to all the stuff you can do in the overworld. That's another thing I really liked about it compared to Zelda. There's tons of stuff to do outside the dungeons and all the collectibles feel meaningful in some way; it doesn't feel like you're just getting more health you don't need. Of course, you do kinda keep getting Praise orbs after you've maxed everything out, but I get why they'd do that.

I had the wii version and the game was autistic as fuck about the exact placement of a dot. Like you'd have it a millimeter off and fuck you you failed.
I mean it's also a kino as fuck setting that's part Heian era Japan (I can't think of another game set then) and boatloads of shit from Japanese folklore and mythology
