waterfall secret

Not sure if that's sarcasm or not, but I enjoy the classic Warrior/Mage/Rogue class set-ups

>Local party member knows more than they let on/is more integral to the plot than they first seem.

Final Battle theme is a remix of the games themes and/or a characters theme.

Final dungeon is the one of the first zones you visit.

Not everyone side char in the game wants to dick you and/or have you dick them.

"Where are they now" Epilogue.

>Final boss' theme is a remix of another character's theme
>Which character's theme it's a remix of holds layers of meaning

>Betrayed by seemingly innocent NPC

>check every waterfall of every game
>get angry every time there's nothing

>The starting pistol is so good you can play most of the game with it

>Starting weapon is shit but if you hold on to it you can turn it into the best weapon in the game late-game

>boss starts as a smug asshole, but starts losing his shit once he starts losing and becomes a nervous wreck when he's about to be killed.

>A party member is the one pulling the strings all along and on your 2nd playthough you notice him in the background fuckleing around the entire time.

bof4 enshin

you are the final boss and your party must kill you

This isn't a trope, it's something that happens in maybe 2 games total.

what game?

>middle aged character who has silly antics but is a fairly strong character and acts as a mentor to the younger party members
>character with his eyes closed suddenly opens his eyes for his bonus boss battle

Attached: 1496281251513.png (462x490, 280K)

I can name you exactly 378 games with this trope

Name 6.

>Antagonist is a religious based cult

Attached: bottom.jpg (655x485, 47K)

Baten Kaitos

>setting is bleak, depressing, good people get fucked over constantly
>main character knows that he'll get punished for every good deed he does will probably screw him over and probably won't matter in the long term
>still does it anyway because it's the right thing to do

I love knights in sour armor.

Attached: 1543893978248.png (239x372, 128K)

>Big, buff, and tough character is actually a total sweetheart and/or a major dork

I love gentle giants desu they always warm my heart

Attached: cool pizza.png (272x229, 136K)

>The weather/seasons can be controlled and changed at will by the player

Sometimes I’m in the mood for a rainy day.

All or nothing pushes at the end of the game. Combine this with including a point of no return if it is a final level

>the lower your hp, the faster you go

Attached: spider_dog.gif (500x377, 2M)

>member of enemy race or species joins your party

>99% chance to hit.
>miss.

>boss battle is a character with similar abilities you do
>bonus points if it's someone that went through similar shit the MC did
>even more if it's the protagonist of the previous game

Attached: 1531715011061.gif (415x367, 454K)

>party member betrays you
>you get their equipment back

Not enough games do the second part.

Boss battle is your brother

Attached: 1531537917417.png (441x437, 100K)

>deequip your party member ahead of time because you know they'll betray you
>game calls you out for it ahead of time and gives them powerful gear as replacement when fighting you

>main character betrays the player

Cod Zombies

That is why you give them a shitty shirt afterwards so the game doesn't recognize the character as "Naked"

Attached: 71fc5e5c.jpg (600x557, 24K)

Baten Kaitos?

>final level is the first level

Attached: 1547575333931.png (646x634, 350K)

this one right there

Attached: 1547336613443.jpg (249x250, 13K)

if I recall, Neverwinter NIghts 2 MoB does a check if the gear is worth less than I think like 9-10k GP? If they're below it, it gives them replacement gear. So giving them shitty gear isn't enough, you have to make sure they're above the threshold.

>the lower your hp, the more damage you do
>Have ability that can keep you at 1 health

yes you fucking chalkboard

>Game offers a lot of customization in abilities and lets you experiment with them
>Abilities have synergies or combinations that would not immediately be apparent

For instance, casting a water spell before a lightning spell deals additional damage. Or Oil before fire makes it harder to shake burn. Or equipping abilities to your weapons makes your physical attacks have spell effects.

>game has a mainly typical fantasy soundtrack, big orchestra and all that
>final themes of the game are rock anthems or a completely different genre from the rest of the game

demon's souls sl1 run in constant hyper mode with thiefs ring & a lava bow

>Final Battle theme is a remix of the games themes and/or a characters theme.
This never fails to make my iron into the big iron
Pledge of Demon/Oath of Enma from Yakuza 0 comes to mind
Also in the same vein is Yuyuko Saigyouji's main theme (Border of Life) and her resurrection theme

Attached: noice.png (560x622, 358K)

It's a mechanic in various games and comes from class traits, items, or skills/perks.

Games where this happens?

Suikoden

>Always looked up to these guys as a kid
>grew up to be a manlet

Just the first or second too? I was planning on playing 2

I live magicka

>Final boss is god, or a god like entity
I know it's clique but I really like it, as long as it's set up well and results in a good fight

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 122K)

Boss' theme gets louder and more elaborate the lower his health is.

Bosses theme slowly gets replaced with the main character's them the lower hp he has.

*cliche

>betrayed by the main fucking character

faggot

Honne expressed a desire to finally go back and finish Baten Kaitos 3 which was in the planning phases before they got sold to Nintendo, but of course they'd need the greenlight from Namco since they hold the IP.
So basically never ever

>an even bigger antagonist shows up
>turns out he’s the reason why the potags and antag have conflict to begin with
>they band together to stop him

>Game suddently gives you over-the-top power during/before a huge battle

That was unexpectedly neat.

The puzzle ended up being a let down though. It was some blue ice blocking a passage forward, but it wouldn't melt from fire and said I lacked a tool hard enough to crack it. Eventually I got the tool and came back, but the blue thing was just Stralhim ore (the first you encounter it) and instead of a passage it was just an upright draugr coffin.

Xenoblade X has 1 (one) waterfall cave from what I recall. God, fuck this boss fight.
>Fight six enemies at once, all of whom are piloting Skells, and you're not allowed to use your own Skell

>the big titted girl is dumb as fuck and easily manipulated

The 3DS's library is too fucking good, I can't just list every good game.

what game?

>game has "unwinnable" boss
>beat him
>"heh, time to get serious"
>new fight starts which you are clearly meant to lose
>he's still beatable and is left in utter disbelief if you manage it
Name it. Please. I just want to btfo some smug cunt.

do it anyways :^)

Xenoblade Chronicles X

You ARE allowed to jump into your skell any time once phase 2 starts, he even says as much.

TEW2 minus the credits-part

>you hava an ability that let's you go really fucking fast and invincible while you're at it

I fucking love how Luna Nights handles the final boss. The difficulty will vary solely depending on how much you use the shopkeeper.

Tolkien wrote once it's the cowards that are capable of the greatest amount of courage. Or something like that. This is a good trope.

>who goes first?
>how about...
>...me?

mommy character gets CHOMPED

>fighting a character that was your friend
>attacks aren't as effective
>they waste turns crying
>if your HP gets low, they start missing on purpose

Is that a one legged suit of armor?
Those are my fetish user, please tell me what the name of that armor is so I can get it when I play X

ligma balls lmao

I think dmc 5 has a moment like this.

Urizen in DMC5 user

A fellow BL2 player I see

Skyward Sword unironically

You can't get it, it's unique to this boss character and the shop you get from her people doesn't sell her gear. The closest you will get is youtu.be/_Fl3OTgHMCY?t=42 in various colors depending on level

Attached: a sad cat.jpg (737x668, 46K)

As opposed to Skyward Sword ironically?

>the boss battle is against the MC of the tutorial
>the boss battle in your second playthrough is against your first playtrough MC

Animal Crossing New Leaf (sunk literally over 1000 hours into it lol)
Mario Kart 7
Super Mario 3D Land
Pokemon X and Y (black and white 1 / 2 if you don't mind DS era)
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon

That's not a trope nigger, only Dragon's Dogma does that. WHY CAN'T YOU FAGGOTS GET THROUGH YOUR FAT SKULL THAT IF IT ONLY EXISTS IN ONE GAME, OR EVEN JUST TWO GAMES, IT'S NOT A TROPE.

That is sad to hear, user.
I'll still play it anyways though.
Dragon's Dogma

Idk Yea Forums hates Skyward Sword, felt necessary

Omikron?

name one game

>antagonist acts perfectly sane and respectful until the final boss fight when they feel threatened and blow their lid
>antagonist treats the protagonist to a drink halfway through the game, anticipating a good fight later in the game and giving you a last chance to change your mind about what you want to achieve

i hate this trope... it's so fucking unrealistic. like at the end of tales of symphonia, everyone has to fucking chime in when in reality on lloyd, kratos, zelos, and mithos should be talking

>you play as a previous boss for the final showdown
this is probably why i like In the Final so much

I am an inefficient user of them, but holy shit do I enjoy landing a hit on the verge of death.

This is why I love Persona, max those S Links, everyone that you've built a relationship with cheers you the fuck on. P4 did it best imo.

>protagonist from the first game of the series comes out of nowhere you save you in the final fight
and
>protagonist from another previous games joins the party throughout the game

Game? I can't think of anything that uses more than just barebones hard-coded schedules for enemies. An actual needs/desires system to make their daily lives dynamic, for generic enemies no less, sounds ace.

>option to side with the antagonist right at the end
>get alternate ending that shows the results of this

Basically most good JRPG tropes.
>hero's story is continued by multiple generations of his descendants
>time skip where hero grows up and world changes
>a close friend/mentor ends up being a major antagonist
>optional super bosses
>hero has secret power they're unaware of or can't fully control until quite far in story
>unbeatable boss fights (the less obvious and more epic the fight the better)
>super tough "grey" characters who follows their own agenda
>absolutely over the top endgame attacks
>world may be low tech/almost medieval but evidence planet has reached extremely high tech levels in distant past
>God / delusional God tier last boss

I'm pretty sure he meant as in the enemies in-story turn out to be sentient beings rather than mindless beasts.

I took "I could spend forever just learning about their society and shit" to mean he was observing them.

Monster Girl Quest, too easy.

God XSIII had a god tier soundtrack. All those endgame boss fights were 11/10.

>boss says that he's proud of you for beating him and genuinely means it

Ok, this seems familiar

THE OTHERWORLD AWAITS YOU

>MC's long lost older brother is the final boss mechanized into a mindless robot
>MC can't bring himself to attack during the final battle, refusing to attack even if you select the 'attack' command
>Boss deals insane amounts of damage, can only stay alive by desperately healing
>Your dead mother tries, tries and tries again to reach your mechanized brother until it finally connects, your brother dealing less damage every time she tries until he's regained his former self
>Kills himself by firing an attack he knows will deflect off a special item you have

Mother 3 was awful.

I mean you still lose in the cutscene but in the second FMA game for the ps2 you can fight and "defeat" Scar, dude can pretty much murder you with 2 hits or one really strong hit, and his life bar is 3 times bigger than the last boss you fought. The only difference is that in the cutscene he is like "you are pretty good but..." and destroys your arm while he says nothing if you just lose. Oh, and you get his glasses as an unique item if you win.

Dragons Dogma?

Honestly that was the one interesting thing that happened in The Last Jedi. The fight itself was lame but the 15 seconds when I thought Rey might join him was really interesting.

Yakuza 0, kinda

I long for something that will live up to the hype that was actually getting the Zero Shift and using it for the rest of the game.

>MC and antagonist team up against a bigger threat
>final boss is the MC and the antagonist settling things with a duel after defeating the bigger threat

>the "one last job before retirement" protagonist
These are honestly my favorite but the only problem with them is that it ends really badly for the protagonist. Which is fine, don't get me wrong. Its just sometimes "one last job" can have a happy ending. Just to subvert those expectations.

OVERBLOOD!

Welcome to trope threads.

My friend's cousin fucking loved Symphony of the Night and when he showed it to me I was blown away. He let me borrow it. I came back a week or two later and blew his fucking mind when I loaded my save in the Inverted Castle. The dumb fuck thought killing Richter was the ending.

Is that the bottom of the chin or a mouth?

Absolute fucking kino tee bee aych

And the shitty Syndicate remake with all the bloom. There was a Vampire somethingorother upgrade for melee takedowns that restored your health. And one of the things I really liked is handguns were uniquely able to still be fired while sprinting, so I'd rush enemies peppering them with the low damage handgun so I could punch them in the face for a full heal.

WELCOM IN OMIKRON

That game was pretty fun but short as fuck. But I created a new game (and 100%) just to specifically do that. Wasn't really worth the 2 bits of dialog but fun nonetheless. Still waiting for that update tho

I unironically cry every time.

>this is represented by losing abilities/stats in gameplay
>game gets harder not because the enemies get stronger, but because it's harder and harder to do the things you've been doing from the beginning

>met someone who looks just like you

>you're the clone

Closest I can think of is LISA

Far Cry 3. Early on enemies start calling you Snow White mockingly and then later on it becomes the main character's dread name.

>check behind waterfall
>naked girl singing while bathing
Niceeee

>no rivalshit
>faggot that keeps hanging around trying to fight you over and over just shit on

I'm so fucking tired of this cliche. Every fucking story with cloning pulls it and it's just so predictable. "OH BUT WHAT IF -YOU- WERE THE CLONE ALL ALONG OOOOHOOOO!" who honestly fucking gives a shit. That shit was lame when Spider-Man pulled it in the 90's and it's still lame nearly three decades later.
