>dude, beat vergil for the third time in the franchise!
>dude, references!
This story sucks. Thank god the gameplay is fun. I know DMC has never had great writing, but 1, 3 and 4 at least felt like they were trying to tell a story. This is just a retread.
Dude, beat vergil for the third time in the franchise!
fuk u bich
Nice
nah fuk u u r mad
>implying there's anything wrong with that
stay mad
>implying there's anything wrong with the story being a retread
Get the Itsuno dick out of your mouth user. It's a good game but the fact that this big mystery is set up only for things to revert back to shit we've seen before is really lame.
yet the end of the game is about resolving the rivalry between Dante and Vergil, something that has not been done before.
Vergil only helped against Arkham as a means to an end.
>big mystery
you're giving to much credit to campy dmc story
Although we see in a post-credit scene that the rivalry is still ongoing in the underworld
Maybe, but I thought the first 7 or so chapters of the game where you're switching between Nero and V was leading to some interesting potential. I'm all for callbacks to the earlier games (I smiled upon hearing the remixes of the DMC1 music), but it ends up overstepping the line of repetition.
That rivalry should have been buried in the end of DMC1. They reignited this stupid story element so Nero could magically become relavent. Especially when the manner in which it was finally resolved was fucking stupid.
They will always fight because that's how they bond.
>V was leading to some interesting potential
you missed all the obvious vergil clues? was 5 your first
cope
I didn't just say V, I said Nero and V with the two of them trying to take down the tree and figure out what was going on with Dante. Also if this was my first DMC, how would I know these elements had been done before? I get that by the time you save Trish the V and Vergil relation is basically explicitly stated, but I was still hoping the game would have something else up its sleeve other than a feud that's been well covered by this point.
Glad to see Yea Forums agrees
On what exactly? People here blindly defend any short coming DMC5 has.
based
I liked DMC5 but I thought it borrowed too much from DMC3.
I liked it as well, I just think it fell short of what it could've been if they actually tried to do something new with the story.
It just retreads to many things for me story wise. I absolutely hated this game's story and only a legitimate moron could not see the V twist coming. Capcom should have gone with their initial idea of V being Mundus.
>It just retreads to many things for me story wise.
Like what?
>Vergil being in the game
>King Cerberus
>Giant figure in a city (nevermind that that's only a vague similarity)
whoa dude it's basically DMC3 with a new coat of paint
>Capcom should have gone with their initial idea of V being Mundus.
Source?
I completely agree. I practically cringed when they tried to milk the “devils never cry” line at the end. I absolutely hated how the whole game is just jerking off Vergil as well.
Urizen should have been his own villain (he’s strong enough to carry a game by himself). Vergil meanwhile should have just been a guy with his own agenda who you fight as a boss— Giving him a more minor role would make the story feel less like a bad fanfic.
>Capcom should have gone with their initial idea of V being Mundus.
He was never going to be anything but Vergil, look at the art book for concept sketches.
OP here. I actually liked the "devil's never cry" scene. To me it differentiate's Dante and Nero's personalities. While Dante has a more emotional side, Nero's more hard headed. Now if only they'd call the inevitable Nero-centric game Devil's Never Cry...
If you look at V's concept art you can see a version of him that was going to be female and she had a "shadow" form. In the shadow were Mundus' eyes.
>Urizen should have been his own villain (he’s strong enough to carry a game by himself).
Doesn't do anything but sit a throne and speak really slowly, that is very fascinating lol.
That was the artist just doing his own thing, apparently it also says Nero's little sister or something along those lines.
Personally, I think V shouldn’t have been a playable character. They should have just focused on Nero and Dante, giving them about 10 missions each.
I mean "Devils never cry" has been a line in every single DMC game.
I liked Urizen’s voice, his boss fight and how he was established to be untouchable.
His “You dare strike me?!” line was a real “oh shit” moment.
I honestly hated every single one of Urizen's boss fights. They took Mundus 2, made it infinitely more annoying, and made you do it three times.
I liked him because we got to see what vergil would be if he did get the power he craved so much.
In the end I agree, I don't care for V at all gameplay wise. I love he's a walking DMC1 throwback but I just find his play style so boring. It's only 4 Missions but I have to force myself to play V's Missions.
It had great character moments.
I agree. Nero's meant to be one of the games focal points, but he gets majorly sidelined when Dante shows up. Without extra missions to spread the time between characters more evenly they maybe should've cut V. With that being said I don't blame them for wanting to add in a new character who brings a different playstyle to the table.
A couple towards the end, sure. I think that's enough to make up for the story as a whole though.
I like V’s playstyle, but it’s way too easy to get an SSS with him. The only real benefit from a story perspective to him being playable is that it makes the boss fight against his demons feel more special. He also has only 2 boss fights, one of which (Niddhogg) is a dogshit fight.
