You were forgotten even before launch since no one cares about VR anymore
Quest is not even vr.
>tfw meme magic keeps turning VR into a bigger and bigger success
>tfw shitposters don't know they're a critical part of the shilling
>posting 2017 articles
actually pathetic
Out of date article,

the graph isn't irrelevant, quest is simply the most important VR product of the decade

Join us in VR, anons. No need to be so bitter.
>no one cares about VR anymore
Keep believing that.
I really like VR and wish it would pick up the pace a bit. Not just for games but there's all sorts of nifty uses for it. Live concerts with 'VR ticket' seats would be awesome and I almost never see it happen. Or a fucking official D&D client where you can meet up with your friends in VR, have a virtual table and figurines and drawable surfaces to play campaigns on. All of my D&D buddies have long since moved away and it's impossible to play anymore, but that would be fucking awesome

VR THREAD.
WHAT YOU GUYS PLAYING?
I got skyrim all modded up now that SKSE has a VR module.
Also have been doing lost of drivan on Assetto Corsa Lake Louise modded track and climbing my way out of D-rank in iRacing
That's what the oculus quest is for, to inject normalfag cash into VR. The Rift S is for "i'm a little interested, but not $1000 Index interested and also i can't set up sensors" sales.
Valve's taking people like me who are enthusiast.
And really everyone's happy that these are the options we have. Budget and equipment range for everyone.
So how does the Oculus Quest compare to the regular old Oculus? I've had mine for awhile and use to for beatsaber mainly. Is OQ Beatsaber moddable with custom songs? How does the tracking compare, can I run around in VR chat etc? Is it powerful enough to handle titles like doom potentially when the fuck is there going to be fullbody for oculus, this seems like the perfect opportunity
>Wants a D&D client to mimic being around a table
>Doesn't want a D&D client to mimic being an adventurer
Can someone give me a tl;dr bullet point or two as to why I should get an Oculus over a Vive or vice versa?
Do you know about the Rift S?
Quest is for normalfags who just want to put on a headset with no customization and play some vidya without worrying about wires and shit.
For the same price, and a cord the Rift S is a simple VR solution that you can get more oomph from. Rift S runs on PC so you can get all the modded goodies.
Tracking is very good. If you hold your hands behind your back long enough for the accelerometers to stop correctly guessing where they are, then you'll lose tracking. But unless you're being a smug anime loli with her hands behind her back, you won't notice.
>WHAT YOU GUYS PLAYING?
nothing. Because there's no games.
PC VR as a market will never allow more than degenerate, glitchy tranny simulators to be developed.
Oculus Go even without any good software sold a million units, the Quest will do the same in a shorter timeframe.
ITT povertyfag cope
Easier and cheaper.
That's facebook's market right now. Mass adoption so devs feel like making games. Maybe their next gen will be catered toward enthusiasts.
Just don't get a vive. Shitty controllers.
Valve Index is what you want if you wanna spend money.
Rift S if you already have a gaming PC
Quest if you have no gaming PC
>poorly cropped out the date
Adorable, but no cookie.
I'd love for vr to take off and actually be a thing in the next decade.
I doubt it will happen, but I'd love to be surprised.
Been having lots of fun with the new take and hold mode in the alpha branch of H3VR.
Really looking forward to my Index controllers arriving next months + Boneworks soon.
why do you think Zuck is advertising hardcore to normalfags about how cheap and easy it is to get into VR?
The vidya industry would crash and burn without normalfag money, VR needs that too.
Rift S it is, then. What's so bad about the Vive's controller's though? And if I were to get a Rift S, would Valve's knuckle controllers be compatible with it?
This is my VR library. I've circled all the good, worthwhile titles.
Sometimes graphics aren't everything. Look at Wii and Switch. Fortnite and Minecraft as well prove graphics aren't nearly as important as some people think.
Is subnautica any good in vr?
4 years and no real gaming experience on par with 2d, pathetic
>get quest
>get beatsaber and superhot
>one day in and I've already started losing weight
VR is the best
They're not ergonomic at all. The Rift S lets you use natural hand motions and can detect you poiting.
Vive you just hold wands.
And imagine on your controller you play vidya with, instead of a joystick you have a trackpad you have to constantly shove your finger around. The headset is fine if you buy the $100 deluxe audio strap, but at that point you've spent $200-300 more than a Rift S for a headset that has shittier controllers. Reminder: you play games with your controllers. They're important.
Which is why the Knuckles controllers on the Index is going to shit on all of them.
Disappointingly unoptimized. Im on a 1060 6GB though, so maybe my povertycard isn't enough.
Last I used it, it was a bit glitchy. Seeing everything at scale is pretty amazing for a while but I found it hard to actually play the game that way and instead just cruised around in vehicles taking in sights until it got boring which wasn't that long.
If you have both VR and subnautica though there's no reason not to try it.
fuck off shill
What's your favorite vr game?
If simply waving your arms is more activity than you've ever done, maybe you need to get your ass outside and do some yardwork. To hell with VR.
>elite dangerous
user please don't show me taht playtime of over 100 hours where you hit the point where bigger ships won't make you happier as you wallow through their shitty shallow space simulator
;_;
Daily reminder inside-out tracking is and always will be a scam. Never ever buy a HMD that doesn't use basestations/lighthouses, you will regret it.
Wanna play a FPS on VR? Want to aim down sights or hold a gun steady? good luck! good luck throwing grenades too
evidence:
twitch.tv
Onward devs are shitty, who knew.
Robo Recall on the quest has you constantly, CONSTANTLY reaching behind your back for a weapon and it does it without issue.
Pavlov has the exact same issues
What else should I get for the quest right now?
Space Pirate demo was pretty fun. Definitely getting that.
>mfw got apex construct in a giveaway
>mfw got superhot vr as a kickstarter backer for free
where the questbros at?
Now is the time to get a Discounted/secondhand CV1 rift or vive, just don't spend over $250 for either. Everyone is jumping on the newer more expensive VR 1.5 train and for someone who doesn't know it as well you might as well start with a low risk investment.
>letting Epic make a better functioning game amateur shooter devs
neither the original rift nor the vive nor the pimax have any of the same tracking issues with both of those titles and they're older HMD platforms
you bought a rift-s? you done goofed son
yea and with ps5 which we already know will be shit and have no games so that doesnt mean anything
That's a good watch. The new rifts both seem to be a dumpster fire.
Got my Quest in the mail this morning. Question for any other Questfags here: Am I the only one who thinks the Quest and everything inside the box smells like sterilized diarrhea? I know most fresh out the box stuff has that, but goddamn this was the first time I've experienced such a foul odor. Irony maybe?
Wow Valve are gonna launch a VR headset people can actually bu-
>even more expensive
They've gone completely off the rails. It's like no one at any company these days just thinks for a second about what consumers actually need
they went for that new car small which always makes me dizzy, i sprayed some perfume in its general direction
I've got a rift CV1 and am migrating to the Index
What i'm saying is Pavlov and Onward devs can't program for the accelerometers as it was only WMR devices that had inside-out tracking, which wasn't a significant
Now that Quest and Rift S are coming out, they're going to have to program for that unless they want to miss out on all the new money facebook is bringing.
Robo Recall came out when it was just two front-facing sensors that would lose your controller behind your back, so they accounted for the accelerators.
Onward and Pavlov devs made it for the vive, and a third sensor for a Rift made it to where they didn't have to worry about programming that in.
So, shitty devs with no foresight.
Facebook has your cheap options covered.
They're the consoles of VR, if you can't afford a good system then stick with the mediocre shit.
Not surprising at all considering the tech they use, they're only going to be good for the normiest of normie gaming like replaying theBlu over and over and going "oh woooow" at jellyfish or maybe virtual ERP in vrchat or an escape room game but that's about it.
Makes sense, but if the reviews come out for the next gen VR shit and it's decent, don't you think it would be better to jump on the more technically refined product once it's verified to be good? I still have some saving to do, so I can sit on it for a bit longer.
$800 tranny box cope
>Superhot still the only action game after like 8 years
>All that shit
this is the power of VR... damn
keep blaming the devs when oculus had all the time and the money to make a HMD that would work on that game let alone the possibility of networking with said devs to prevent these issues from coming up before launch.
Pavlov is the #2 most played multiplayer title on steamVR and it has a huge playerbase compared to other VR titles (see also VRLFG.net). If I was releasing a new HMD I sure as fuck would collaborate with them to make sure it worked on my platform.
This is more oculus being the typical shitheads they are with their walled garden strategy and not giving a fuck about the rest of the VR community and it's not a good trend at all.
Robo Recall is the shit but even it is just a glorified tech demo. No idea why they wouldn't make it a full game. Hate that about VR. Everything is this disgustingly short, overpriced, empty experience. There's nothing on it as of yet that makes anyone feel good about owning it. The Lab is an exception but that, too, is just a small collection of demos and software examples.
>Makes sense, but if the reviews come out for the next gen VR shit and it's decent, don't you think it would be better to jump on the more technically refined product once it's verified to be good? I still have some saving to do, so I can sit on it for a bit longer.
It depends how serious you are about your investment and how eager you are to jump into VR. If you just want to try the waters, then my previous suggestion still stands. If you want something more robust then it's probably still wise to wait until the end of the year/new year to pull the trigger since the index launch has only recently begun.
It ain't gonna be #2 with all these new Quest users if it doesn't work well.
Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm pretty eager to jump into VR after trying a few demo units at stores, but I'm pretty entry-level on my knowledge. I'll take a look around for hopefully some cheaper last-gen Oculus sets.
It's like all these devs are trying to convince someone to take the plunge and blow $500k making a VR game, because each of them know they would never see that money back
Full-fledged games with a VR implimentation are the best right now.
Mostly simulations, but I've been having fun with modded Skyrim now that SKSE works with it.
The index is actually superior to the vive pro but it's still a kick in the dick that they didn't include some form of foveated rendering which would have been a total game changer and more than that they marketed it as the "enthusiast" version of their VR offering which means FR is completely off the table.
.
i tried vr porn for the first time yesterday
AMA XD
Other way around actually
People on reddit are already returning their rift-s after seeing that twitch review and other first experience reviews of the same titles.
You didn't watch a shitty real-life porn video did you?
You at least got Honey Select, Koikatsu, WaifuSexSimulator, Virt-a-mate, or yiffaliscious, right?
>make a standalone phone VR headstet
>complain that you are forgotten
I'm still waiting for a second generation PC Oculus Rift, fukkerberg.
We're not their target market anymore.
I'm jumping ship to Valve. The knuckles controllers are going to be too good.
Don't forget if you get a good deal on anything vive that it's compatible with the index, meaning you can use the same basestations and controllers should you upgrade in increments at a later date (not a huge deal but it's a nice bonus for vive owners).
>Win a headset in a programming competition
>Don't have controllers but just want to look around in Counter Strike and stuff
>Nothing is supported wtf
>Figure out a way to bind yaw/pitch to mouse XY
>Even then streaming the game's video to the headset is somehow made impossible
>Figure out they actually want to leave anyone not willing to drop 1k on base stations and controllers out in the cold
it's like they want it to fail. The amount of people who just want to kinda look around and stuff must be insane. Payday 2 VR is supported but there's unironically no way to use Mouse/Keyboard.
How did they fuck this up? Googling how to do it led to alot of VR elitism from Reddit and shit, is that it?
Same, yeah. Thankfully it aired out in no time.
I know it's pricey but save up for the index if you want a true upgrade. Failing that, there's nothing wrong with CV1.
I was gonna buy a quest then I remembered I'd have to buy all my steam VR games again and noped the fuck out.
what headset did you even win that didn't come prepackaged with controllers?
coming from a CV1 rift and planning to go to the Index, I sure as fuck hope ReVive works well with it. I've got like $100 in games on the oculus store.
>How does the tracking compare, can I run around in VR chat etc?
It's actually really good. downside is the controllers have sort of a blind spot behind your back (possible workaround is just look at what you're doing with your hands and you're good), but the tracking of the headset itself is very good, I was able to map out my entire apartment in a single guardian setup (3 rooms) and move around from one end to the other with no issues, that alone is already worth something, like first of all no cable and being able to just absolutely max out your play area across your whole space and not just being confined into one room and it only takes a few seconds to setup
I'd get the index, but I don't think anyone knows yet how the mounting options of the sensors are. With the Oculus Rift you can just use regular wall camera mounts, but the index ones seem a lot bigger and need external power too.
actually I can kind of understand the charme of tabletop games and VR would really lend itself to simulated tabletop games of all kinds not just D&D
>make a new headset
>make it worse to appeal to more people
CV1 chads wy@?
I'm jumping to the index tho.
You "won" some chinese garbage. The Rift and Vive is just plug and play thanks to SteamVR.
Revive technically is a compatibility wrapper for steamVR not vive it's just named that way because the first to use it was the vive. Also the index uses a fuckton of similar hardware and software also used by the vive. You will probably have no issue whatsoever unless the rift game in particular doesn't work on Revive. For me only a handful of titles gave me any issues and they were all demo-tier shit (echo arena, lucky's tale, and a few other titles worked just fine.)
mostly just slr and i found it very underwhelming. hell, even that ghost in a shell demo is more fappable than the all the pov shit.
which one of those would you recommend? i found out about virt-a-mate today and it seemed noice.
Tabletop Simulator works okay enough in VR. I have it and I would really love to play with... anyone ;-;
Mine is still shipping
Waifu Sex Simulator is my personal favorite. The rest feel hacky, particularly Honey Select.
Yiffaliscious 2 when
I would play with you, but im socially incompetent and can't talk with people outside of writing. Aren't there a lot of rooms though or did they split the player base for that?
you should also mention that the available buttons and the thumbstick, and the general design of the Index controller is much closer to the Oculus controller than it is to the Vive controller, so I suppose it should work even better with ReVive than the actual Vive, because you won't have that weird shit anymore where the game prompts you to press buttons and move thumbsticks that you just don't even have
Money talks, bitch.
>no cares about VR anymore
This. Haven't seen a tech fad die so fast since 3DTV.
Because projections are too high.
Appeals to the masses are ignored.
And the rich get dumber with each passing day.
I don't know, I don't play it outside making my own room.
I can't even do VRChat. I'm just too awkward to join in on a conversation because usually I'm not interested in it.
/vg/ is filled with megahomos and they're worse to be around than normalfags.
>Yiffalicious 2
A pipe dream unless a miracle happens, odes and dogson bit off way more than they can chew
Virtual stock mode already exists in both pavlov and onward and it forces you to nosegun (gun pivots once you bring your other hand up close to your face) making hip fire and shooting around corners really awkward. It fixes the aim down scope issue but in the most obnoxious kind of way.
P.S. I can totally tell by now you've never touched either title in your life.
>Yiffaliscious
i’m tempted to try that, it’s free...
You won't get sucked in because 75% of the females are way too fat to be sexy and the cat, who's thin, is a fucking plank.
If you're a homo then you're in a for a good time.
Hell the femboy fox looks better than most of the females.
Are you purposefully being retarded?
I'm glad someone else finds the virtual stock to just be awkward as shit to use. It's really only useful for scopes anyways.
>I'm just too awkward to join in on a conversation because usually I'm not interested in it.
I can't do VRChat either but Tabletop Simulator is easier, because you can just join a room, get someone to teach you the game and play the damn game. No need to be interesting.
No mater matter how many new headsets you make, PSVR is still king despite being technologically inferior.
You simply cannot win against an actual gaming juggernaut that's willing to dump money and studios into making exclusives. This week alone PSVR received two major exclusives.
I'm just agreeing with what user said. Or are upset about thr 3DTV thing?
It's okay if you like the stock models offered but you could also learn how to rig things in blender and port that to unity for your own sexytimes. A lot of the VR toolkits are super easy to use. I'm waiting for another price drop for leap motion personally so I can set up controls to slap virtual ass and titty.
i like bbws, should i still avoid it?
It launched?
Go look at videos of it on pornhub or e621 and decide for yourself, people have uploaded plenty of content already.
The CV1 has a better framerate, what the fuck were they thinking?
How many years has it been of people saying VR is dead/dying? 5 years now?
To be fair Oculus funds some really good exclusives too but people are way more hesitant to give Zuckerberg money.
You also can't use it with your PC so who cares
thanks my man, i’ll have a look.
i’m too lazy for that. ;-;
it had that new car smell, I'm sad it wore off so quickly to be honest
I have a vive and while PSVR does make me a little jelly for AAA VR titles I still have plenty to play in steamVR and also I like to tinker with devkits and other stuff also porn. Can't really do any of that in PSVR.
Don't know. Don't really care what length of time it's been.
Does Aeon get better?
Played it yesterday and the begining feels clunky and shitty.
VR is here to stay because there is fuck all going on in every other platform. It's just year after year of bullshots and underperforming shitty games.
The only other "big news" in gaming, especially console gaming, is moving everything to the cloud so they can fuck over the customer as much as possible and normie gamers seem 100% ok with this.
I'd rather have VR tyvm
They've been right the whole time. It hasn't exactly sprung to life. It's on expensive life support but it's been fizzling the whole time.
My mother paid 200 for an Oculus Go, I think VR is still pretty popular among boomers
No. Which is why it's only $11. The first level is awful. Everything after that is the "real" game but it's just enemy spam and this doesn't change for the rest of the game. You do work up a sweat playing but that shit gets old quick.
Thanks. Gonna get a refund then.
>Beat Saber finally comes out of Early Access after a year of 'development'
>Outside of bug fixes can count the number of updates on one hand
>Charge $10 more
I know the price hike is for the Quest but goddamn did that game get carried hard by modders.
you are in a for a good time.
Remember to come out of the headset to drink and eat, user.
to be fair that's all she'd need. Oculus Go is a media consumption device, really
So your opinion on the matter is worth less than nothing
Fucking seriously. I got it on launch and had cleared all the stock songs on the second hardest difficulty by day 2.
>VR will finally die for good any day now, says sure-sounding man for fifth year in a row
>on the second hardest difficulty
Do you mean expert?
It doesn't need to die, it's just in a permanent limbo of possibilities. It won't die cause of that but it never live properly to begin with either.
This is the way VR ends
This is the way VR ends
This is the way VR ends
Not with a bang but with a whimper.
So first impressions match predictions: Quest is good in that it's merely stepping stone (maybe just an overglorifed Oculus Go) towards untethered (albeit mobile) VR going forward, and the downside as always is the apple-like closed off walled garden bullshit. In for a penny, in for a pound. Ya get what ya pay for. Index can't come soon enough.
>oculus quest
>closed development basically just like console strapped on your head
>no porn game for you
Why even bother?
It's been over 9 months since I turned it on. I think I remember them adding another difficulty now that you say.
I want to play it again, just I got fired from my cushy IT job and now I wash dishes 38 hours a week.
I'm dropping 10lbs a month and getting muscle definition, but FUCK if I want to go home and do MORE exercise.
Sitting down experiences have saved my VR headset from collecting dust
Same as yours I guess.
WSS is nice, Koikatsu is also decent, give Virt-a-Mate a try for 3DPD lookish but it is more of a poser right now and has a cluster fuck of a UI.
It's for normalfags to pump money into VR. A necessary evil.
Index with the knuckles is going to shake things up though
You guess wrong.
>I got fired from my cushy IT job and now I wash dishes 38 hours a week.
hits too close to home. Fucking ouch. Never loved any job as much as I loved IT. Didn't even feel like work.
Virt-a-mate has the best looking models but you're right, it's just a poser. WSS is janky as the fuck but it's fairly easy to just do scenes
Oh sorry. Same as yours
Try Fantasy Grounds. One of my buddies bought the ultimate edition and we’ve been playing cross country for like 2+ years this way. It takes getting used to but so much better than pencil and paper.
A thousand fucking dollars, though
Incorrect again, fucko.
don't get me wrong, it's not a bad job. It's just I work from 4-11PM 5 days a week so that fucks up scheduling for many things and it's minimum wage. Getting some other things lined up though, just gotta trudge through the shit first.
But you are god of the kitchen and everyone has to respect you. It's hard to make mistakes as a dishwasher as long as plates get brought to the cooks dry and clean. You have to be fast enough, but if you're smart you won't have a problem.
>mobile vr is dying
>PC vr is not
Why would you post that if you are trying to make the case vr is dying?
Nope.
It'll probably go down like the Vive and Rift did.
When I get a new job I'll pay the bleeding-edge tax though. I'm "ignore-the-small-faults" enthusiast tier right now.
How is Quest not mobile VR?
You wont find many second hand vives. Most people are smart enough to realize the image quality wont get much better and that the controllers are the important part.... which work with the OG vive
virt a mate will be GOTYAY once 2.0 comes out and genesis 3/8 models and morphs are supported
and probably the most controversial game because that means a certain size change mod will be supported
I would imagine you can buy a secondhand vive HMD from someone who just bought the index HMD and kept their vive basestations. If they're letting it go at $100 with the DAS included and you can get a pair of basestations and controllers for ~$150 that's a pretty good deal. Not super likely like you said but it's a possibility.
There's also wild life (adeptusteve on patreon) and elera is making a game where you can fingerbang VR horses (realistic and also MLP types) with leap motion
And they're going to keep saying it until we get even ONE game. It's been what, 3 years now? And still, no games.
We've got some tech demos. Some really poor clones of real games. But still no actual games.
VAM is great if you're willing to spend a fuckload of time learning it but you also need to install community morphs, assets and scripts to make up for some of the things it lacks. It's like learning Blender and a lot of people don't want to deal with that when all they want is to nut.
There's really something to be said about ease of use, and VAM is seriously lacking on that front.
>There are no games!
>There are actually plenty of games, but you can't be allowed to give VR credit where it's due, so you'll just keep pretending that it has nothing
>you can get a pair of basestations and controllers for ~$150
That's never going to happen. The basestations and controllers usually go for 150 bucks each, so that's 300 bucks.
The best way to get a Vive is to buy a boxed set for 300 bucks or less, then just spend the 60-100 bucks extra you need for the DAS. Then in a few years you can pick up the knuckles for cheap.
I bought my Rift back in November and there's already an issue getting sound to come out of the right headphone, turns out over time the circuits in the headset malfunction. Not even sure if I have a warranty on it so instead of sending it back for repairs, I'm waiting on a 50ft extension cord for my regular headphones, the sound quality is a little better and less loud which is important when you're not living alone and playing porn games
wtf are you talking about faggot. lone echo, the unspoken, and stormland comes out soon
That user's a cocksucker but the Quest is important for a VR headset that can even slightly get close to VR gaming instead of just watching movies in a VR theater or something without an external device. That on one hand means more VR adoption because not everyone owns a PC capable of VR but the Quest is ridiculously weak and as such everything you can play on it is gonna look like shit unless it's incredibly simplistic graphically like that Journey of the Gods game.
Personally I do have a computer good enough so I'm just getting a Rift S and waiting for Stormland to come out.
This is funny as hell, I’m losing it. OMEGALUL
>VRidge support
>iVRy soon
>ALVR too
maybe not for 6DoF but its likely the quest will be perfectly fine for sim games like E:D or racing games
I can see the quest being adopted in educational environments and maybe used by companies looking to show off tech demos and projects but only if they allow vendors to sell services/apps on their store without more hassle than putting a game on apple store/steam. If they can't manage that, it's going to bomb so hard. People are going to play 1 hour of rec room and then return it.
Even children are more woke on this shit. I see so many kids in onward/pavlov these days and they're all using vives and rifts.
You realize the quest cannot connect to a PC, right? It can only run approved titles off of its onboard chip.
That's why the Vridge page had instructions on how to sideload apps. The bigger issue is that using something like VRidge to be a passthrough is going to be way shittier than just buying a Rift S so I don't get why user didn't just buy one of those instead of a Quest
This is what anti-vr tards believe
Sounds like way too much effort when you can get a regular CV1 rift and not have to fuck with any of that.
Base stations and lighthouses are not hard to set up, you can even get studio light poles or other improv solutions and calibration takes all of 10 minutes for each setup and lasts until you move the emitters. I really don't understand the argument against tethered VR.
thats what they get for forced facebook ads
You can really easily enter dev mode you idiot
until they patch it like how they tried to break revive
Terrible. ZERO comfort options, unoptimized as shit (old version of Unity it runs on doesn't help either), and all UI elements are about four inches away from your eyes, making you strain to read.
No and UWE is unlikely to improve it
They've turned into such a shitty dev ever since NS2
Getting tangled up in the cables is the big complaint. Personally my play area is pretty small so I don't want anything with sensors, I already don't have a lot of room without needing base stations.
>he said whilst phoneposting
Hello, clown frog poster.
This is an image of the DK2. It was what was available before the launch version of the oculus and what was used to develop games for that launch oculus. It is now blocked from playing Oculus games despite being the oculus that was used to make games for the oculus.
...
lol user already hiding the thread and closing 4channel as we speak. Nice work!
