I wish it had only two difficulties, one is tutorial for normies and another one is true where everythign is balanced for it. Instead we got some stupid shit where everything up to Way of the Nioh is piss easy and once you there all you need is to find a good weapon and stuck +% damage on your gear and -% damage reduction.
All of this felt like a wasted potential since combat is actually good but buried under all those pointless stats.

Just played through Nioh all the way to beating Way of the Nioh difficulty over the past 2 months. People complain about the Diablo loot system, but that's a non-issue. In fact, if anything, it encourages build variety. There's just so many fucking ways of playing the game.

The problem is just how unfair a lot of the sub-missions are. Seriously, who the fuck thinks fighting a Flying Bolt AND a Raven Tengu at the same time is even remotely fair? Or what about the sub-missions where you have to fight TWO human NPC bosses at the same fucking time? And it's not even genuinely hard. It's just artificial difficulty. You can beat these sub-missions by coming back to them later with better gear and stomping all over them with Carnage+Extraction+Quick Change+Weakness and using Living Weapon infinitely. These missions are more "DPS checks" rather than skill checks. They're clearly designed with co-op in mind.

I hope Nioh 2 gets rid of these dumb missions. Also, please allow players to filter weapons of a specific level (eg: "200+15 and below only") in the menu to make offerings and disassemblies quicker.

I still like Nioh more than Dark Souls 3 though.

Goddamn, look at all that enemy variety. It's like they heard one of the top complaints about Nioh 1 and set their mind to fixing that problem.

Even though honestly, it wasn't really a problem, since the enemy roster, though small, is excellent. Each enemy (reskins aside) felt distinct. For example, fighting the dual sword Namahage is a completely different experience from fighting the Odachi Namahage.

Nioh's fault wasn't just having a small enemy roster, it's also about how they reuse enemies way too much in every level. For example you will definitely fight some undead skeletons in literally every fucking level alongside 10 other enemies, so the the more you play you'll just notice them more and blame the game for not variety. I'm pretty sure in the last main mission alone you fight like 90% of the enemy roster, each type sprinkled around the map.
I'm sure people wouldn't have complained as much if they tried to stick to a theme in each mission.

this game is very fun and shows the core of the gameplay when wearing a light armor set. the fast move and attack is the core of the action mechanism i believe like ninja gaiden. edgy soul fags tend to wear a heavy one and move their characters very slow. and keep being beaten by all those bosses. i was one of those tho in the early part of this game. i changed the style after hino-enma.

I'll buy it on ps4 but I hope it does come to PC eventually. Being able to test out builds using cheat engine was much more relaxing than farming for a perfect item for 1000 hours on console. I actually like the loot system too.

If they come around to making a PC version, I really hope they don't hardcode the target lock-on switching to mouse movement. It's the only problem with the mouse and keyboard controls for Nioh on PC.

When you're fighting 1v1, it feels so perfect. But as soon as there's more than 1 enemy on screen, it becomes a nightmare, because the slightest movement of your mouse means that you'll switch lock-on targets. They made that shit WAY too sensitive. And you cannot remove it. It meant that I had to play with both M+KB (when I'm fighting solo bosses) and my PS4 controller (when I'm fighting mobs).

The only thing I don't like about that list is the weapons breaking. I hate weapon durability in videogames. But everything else sounds like it should have been in the main game. For example, Ki Pulsing is so satisfying, so it saddens me when I see YouTube videos of people being at end-game and barely knowing how to Ki Pulse. The game needs to force players how to do it.

Ki pulse only matters if you actually have a reason to attack a lot, but that's not viable in high difficulties so you're never low enough on ki for ki pulse to be relevant.

Enemies look good but everything depends on how they handle enemy variety this time. For all we know the enemies in the trailer are almost all of the enemies that appear in the final game. I thought Nioh 1 was going to be god-tier during the alpha but little did I know that I had practically seen every enemy type the game had to offer already. If the bosses were good it would be a different story but they were mostly trash. I'm rooting for this game but if it ends up being mediocre like the first one I wouldnt be surprised.

From what i know to this date the PS4 version online (which i play) is more active than PC, with less technical issues and framerate problems to boot. Seems like a safer bet for the sequel to get it on PS also.

The animations themselves are ok, but there's very little hitstop or recovery. They try to make the animation have impact by slowing down the startup and speeding the collision to create the sensation of heavy impact, but the speed is maintained until the sword is fully recoiled so it looks awful. The mocap animations are fine, but they've obviously been edited. It should be a relatively easy fix, and might be better in the full version.

The people that think this way are build autists that rest on one game for as long as possible because they're poor and can't afford many more games to play. Usually South Americans.

I am both. I used Kusarigama on my first playthrough, but found them a little too easy after a while. You can stunlock up close and still have tons of range, as well as utility moves like trips. There's very little downside to them. I used tonfa on my second character and loved every second. I don't understand the hate towards them.
