Marketing it in Japan is very very hard since most of the time it’s advertised as something big

It all boils down to the kind of games available on it. The original xbox had some sega games, the 360 had a ton of shmups, but it has always been stuff for western audiences mostly. If they had, say, an exclusive final fantasy game it might see some traction over there.

I don't think the japs hate it, but I wish all the japan only original xbox games/360 games got ported off the consoles.

Japan doesn't hate the Xbox, it's just that it's marketed like shit in Japan. The Xbox 360 had tons of great games in it that were marketed to appeal to the Japanese: Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Bullet Soul, Akai Katana and many more. They tried REALLY hard, but the problem is that the Xbox didn't and still doesn't entice Japanese players. Japan isn't that into shooters, sports or what is considered ''hardcore gaming'' in the US. That and, apparently, Japanese audiences though the og Xbox looked ugly. The Xbox 360 did slightly better, but not good enough, and just like the og Xbox, the Xbox One is considered ''ugly'' in design.
